Chapter 343: The Young Maiden Comes to Serve the Master

When Xiao Lin appeared at the door, Xia Xue felt a few minutes of discomfort and confusion. There were countless times she hoped the doorbell would reveal his silhouette, but disappointment often overshadowed reality, teaching her not to expect anything anymore. Preparing to open the beauty salon gave her a bit of solace amidst the busyness, and Liang Feng occasionally brought Fei Feng's children over to accompany her. Although no one said anything, Xia Xue's longing for Xiao Lin never truly ceased.

She was mad at Xiao Lin because he never gave her any information, leaving her anxious. Every time she saw news of conflict in the Middle East, it caused her pain, but she knew he left her many comforts, including people who protected her in the shadows.

If it weren't for his existence, she might have been harmed by those people many times already. Despite the fear, she believed she could remain safe because of Xiao Lin's presence. Over time, she found comfort in the idea that no news meant good news, that he was still alive. As long as he was alive, there was a chance he would return, and she believed he would.

Now, he was finally standing in front of her, yet Xia Xue couldn't feel happy. She glared with her beautiful eyes, focusing intensely on the woman behind Xiao Lin—a woman so beautiful she seemed unreal. Women are jealous by nature, and her intuition clearly told her this woman was a threat.

"I'm back!" Xiao Lin tried to hug Xia Xue but she dodged him. Unhappy with her reaction, Xiao Lin grunted, "What, have you already forgotten me after a few days?" He awkwardly turned away, avoiding looking at Xia Xue's face.

"Who is she?" Xia Xue disregarded Xiao Lin's attitude, pointing at the woman behind him as she unabashedly asked.

"Her name is Lian; I went to the Middle East this time to find her!" Xiao Lin offered no further explanation, as he felt there was nothing to explain, and it was indeed true. "I'm very tired, can we talk inside?"

Xiao Lin really was tired; escaping from five levels underground wasn't nearly as easy as leaving from five levels above ground. All he wanted right now was to lie down on his bed and sleep. Having arrived at the door to endure a punishment of standing made him speak harshly.

Tears hovered in Xia Xue's eyes, refusing to fall. She felt a grievance ready to explode, yet knew now was not the time. She restrained the bitterness and yielded a path for Xiao Lin and them.

"He's really tired," Lian added behind Xiao Lin, addressing Xia Xue.

"Lian, this is my room. You sleep here; the bathroom is to the left of the living room." Xiao Lin said while removing his coat and taking out clean clothes from the closet. "I'll sleep in the same room as my wife. Don't be restrained; sleep well, and we can talk afterwards."

"Ah, you'd better wash first then!" Xiao Lin left but returned to wink at Lian, "Too sleepy!"

Seeing Xia Xue still standing idly in the living room like a utility pole, Xiao Lin chuckled, "Don't get jealous."

He pulled Xia Xue into her room and tossed her onto the bed. "You seem thinner; is it because you've been missing me?"

With his forehead resting against Xia Xue's, his nose rubbed against hers, leaving only her reflection in his eyes. "I've missed you terribly. When I heard you had trouble, I wanted to rush back immediately." His deep voice dispelled the anxiety in Xia Xue's heart. Women are really easy to reassure, easy to deceive. Just a sentence could make worries vanish completely. "Let me check if you're hurt, if there are scars!"

"No!" Xia Xue grasped Xiao Lin's hand, shaking her head firmly.

"Let me see there!" His palm touched the wound on her waist, the long scar felt so real under his fingers. "I should have stayed."

"I don't blame you!"

"There won't be a next time, I swear!" Kissing Xia Xue's lips, Xiao Lin sucked passionately. His longing for her surged like waves after seeing Xia Xue again. He urgently wanted her, unwilling to wait even a moment.

"Me too!" Xia Xue felt Xiao Lin's body heat, suddenly pushing him onto the bed before straddling him. "Today, let me serve you!" Her seductive eyes twinkled with extraordinary allure!

A little absurd, a little sorrowful!

When did she become so sentimental? Lian smiled with her lips pulled wide, yet from the mirror could only see a woman's tearless crying face. Her years of guarding just to hand her beloved man to someone else. How could she express such bitterness?

"If it were me, I'd fight for it with no hesitation." Ah, these were the words of the woman who seemed like an Angel. Was it meaningful to gain it by any means?

She dared not think, would not think. Everyone interprets love with bias. She'd quietly stay beside the loved one—a foolish act. She turned her head toward the door; outside it lay her heart's love.

After the storm comes sweet comforting. Xia Xue leaned against Xiao Lin's chest, blinking her eyes at his sleeping face. She had never observed his sleeping face so closely, innocent and playful like a child. Such a perfect man who entrusted his heart wholly to her, she ought to be the happiest woman alive.

Her fingers traced his straight nose, reaching his lips, lastly his Adam's apple. Each part showcased his perfection; even the scars now seemed to add to his handsomeness.

"Hehe, seen enough?" Xiao Lin kept his eyes closed, enjoying the sensation of her fingertips roaming over him. If he could, he wished this would be his life, unchanging. But it's merely a wish.
