What exactly are they here for?

Seeing Bai Xiyue and the others suddenly tense up, Qin Tian frowned.

All along this journey, Bai Xiyue and the others showed no signs of searching for treasure. Instead, they used the mysterious Golden Compass with clear intent, heading in a certain direction.

Too purposeful! It's as if they've been here before!

Qin Tian noticed Xue Yao still wore an innocent look, seemingly unaware of Bai Xiyue and the others' intentions, following along just for fun.

"Miss Bai, where exactly are we going?" Qin Tian couldn't help but ask, "With so many meteor craters around, shouldn't we be searching there for treasure...?"

"Since you've joined us, don't ask so many questions. Of course, you can choose to leave us now and proceed on your own."

Before Bai Xiyue could respond, Chi Ren coldly retorted to Qin Tian.

"Qin Tian, stop asking so much, just come have fun. I know our Sister Yue is here for something big." Xue Yao's eyes sparkled as she animatedly spoke to Qin Tian.

Bai Xiyue remained silent, merely glanced at Qin Tian, then continued forward.

Chi Ren was tense, reminding everyone, "Be on alert, we're going in!"

Qin Tian followed silently behind. They entered a path flanked by black forests, the surroundings dimly lit, occasionally flickering with blue or purple glimmers, reminiscent of a horror film's setting.

The deeper they ventured into the forest behind the temple, the more oppressive the atmosphere became.

As they delved deeper into the forest path, the sudden roar of fierce beasts emanated from within!

Chi Ren frowned and softly exclaimed, "Get ready, those creatures are here!"

As Chi Ren finished speaking, nearly at once, more than a dozen wolves appeared from both sides of the forest!

These wolves were entirely covered in black fur, with eyes glowing green, unlike any fierce wolf Qin Tian had seen before.

"Are these wolves or some phantoms...?"

Qin Tian gathered his True Qi, ready to strike, and asked calmly.

These strange wolves didn't rush in but slowly encircled them.

"These are Ghost Wolves, very powerful. Be careful."

Bai Xiyue said, her hand already holding a slender silver longsword.

"Don't get entangled in battle, we break through immediately. Xue Yao and I will charge the front, Chi Ren, you cover the rear!" Bai Xiyue ordered.

The five people with Chi Ren already poised their weapons sharply, nodding in agreement.

Qin Tian interjected, "And, what about me?"

Chi Ren casually replied, "Do as you please."

"Do as you please, huh. Fine, whatever..."

Qin Tian felt at a loss.

"Break through!"

The attack of the Ghost Wolves came almost simultaneously with Bai Xiyue's command.

Bai Xiyue charged forward head-on towards the path's end, followed by Xue Yao and Chi Ren. Qin Tian hesitated but then used the Wave Striding Technique to stay in the middle of the group.

Wielding the Red Sword, Qin Tian engaged in battle with a Ghost Wolf pouncing at him. This beast was indeed more ferocious than any wolf pack Qin Tian had encountered before in the wasteland desert, with its claws swinging, infused with True Qi, sharp and deadly!

Awoo! Awoo!

While Qin Tian was locked in a back-and-forth with a Ghost Wolf, Bai Xiyue on the other side had already slain two wolves, pressing forward to break through.

"Qin Tian, stop obsessing over killing these beasts. Don't get caught up in battle, catch up quickly."

Seeing Qin Tian still seemingly reluctant to part with the first Ghost Wolf, Xue Yao called back to him exasperatedly.

Bai Xiyue clearly didn't want to get entangled with these wolf packs, urging everyone to move forward swiftly.

However, these Ghost Wolves were relentless, pursuing them closely, not any slower than them.

Suddenly, the Ghost Wolf pack once again engaged a man at the very rear. This man, careless for a moment, was bitten on the shoulder by a Ghost Wolf, crying out in pain.

"Guardian Bai, Luo Ya is injured!"

Chi Ren frowned and said.

Bai Xiyue stated, "Tell him to hang on, it's only about ten more miles to get through this Ghost Forest. We must persist! If we delay, the wolf pack will grow, and none of us will make it. Keep going!"

Bai Xiyue showed no intention of pausing, leaving the group to move on, but the wolf pack, upon smelling blood, went even wilder, relentlessly chasing them!

In an instant, the dim forest path was flanked and trailed by an overwhelming number of Ghost Wolves. Initially, there were a dozen; now, there were forty or fifty, each with eyes glowing green in the dark, making for an utterly terrifying scene!

"It seems Bai Xiyue has indeed been here before..."

Qin Tian recalled Bai Xiyue mentioning only ten more miles to go, "No wonder she's moving so swiftly; apparently, in this Ghost Forest, the number of Ghost Wolves is beyond count. As soon as there is commotion, the pack gathers more and more. Each one is at least at the Qi Refining Late Stage. A pack of ten or twenty is just manageable; surrounded by hundreds or thousands, it spells certain doom for us..."

With a lingering fear, Qin Tian sped up even more.

"Ah! Save me!"

Luo Ya, already injured and now with insufficient True Qi, fell behind again, bitten by a Ghost Wolf, unable to run any further!

Luo Ya used up all his True Qi to injure two Ghost Wolves, but more pounced upon him!

"Guardian Bai! Chi Ren! Help me! Save me!"

Dozens of Ghost Wolves completely blocked their path on the walkway ahead!
