Chapter 3: Young Lady of a Prestigious Family (2)
"Since there's something going on at my aunt's place, I won't stay any longer." Fu Jiachen had no intention of sticking around to watch the excitement, as this was ultimately a matter for the Ye Family.
Mrs. Ye had Ye Ke see him out, leaving only Ye Han and the butler in the hall.
After they left, Mrs. Ye's expression instantly turned cold. She asked Ye Shaohua a few courteous questions before instructing the butler to familiarize her with the Ye Family, then paid no further attention to her.
If this had been right after their marriage, Mrs. Ye might have cared about Ye Shaohua's presence.
But now, with the situation as it was, Ye Ke and Ye Han had been bright since childhood, far outshining Ye Shaohua in every respect, so this time, when Mr. Ye wanted to bring Ye Shaohua over, Mrs. Ye did not object.
Mr. Ye's ex-wife's daughter was no match for her own children in any regard, giving Mrs. Ye an odd sense of victory upon seeing Ye Shaohua.
"Young Lady, today is Sunday. I will take you to No. 1 High School for registration tomorrow," the butler said, looking at her.
Ye Shaohua responded unconcernedly.
A servant handed her a glass of water, which she took nonchalantly.
Ye Han just happened to stand up from the sofa, seemingly on a phone call, speaking loudly and excitedly without attempting to lower his voice, "The preliminary race starts at eight in the evening, we'll use my car, the limited edition my father brought back from abroad!"
Hearing this, Ye Shaohua turned around and suddenly remembered something. She tilted her head slightly and looked at him, "Little brother, your car's engine power is insufficient for the race, it could be dangerous."
Ye Han had just ended the call and couldn't help but smirk upon hearing Ye Shaohua's comment. His voice carried a rebellious tone, and his eyes held traces of disdain and impatience, "Insufficient engine power? Do you even know what kind of car I have? You think you understand racing enough to make such a claim?"
The butler and the servants on the side gave Ye Shaohua a glance when they heard Ye Han's words, their looks tinged with irony.
It seemed that this Young Lady was not as well-behaved as she appeared.
Had she really started to think of herself as the Young Lady of the Ye Family, directing Ye Han around, just after arriving?
Ye Shaohua put down her empty glass on the table and, before leaving, gave Ye Han a cheerful curl of her lips, "Believe it or not, that's up to you."
In the original plot, Ye Han was always a cool-headed but warm-hearted youth. Although he was harsh on Ye Shaohua, he was the only one who had fought with Fu Jiachen on her behalf.
Ye Han did not return home that evening, and Mr. Ye came back late from the company.
It wasn't until the next morning that Ye Shaohua saw all the members of the Ye Family.
Mr. Ye was reading the financial newspaper, Ye Han sat aside with a troubled look, his complexion not too good, and Ye Ke was hugging her laptop, the atmosphere very harmonious. As soon as Ye Shaohua descended the stairs, she saw Ye Ke sitting on the sofa with her laptop.
Prior to this, Ye Shaohua had been either undercover on a mission or rushed by her agent to film; she never had time to rest throughout the year, but now she enjoyed some rare downtime and slept until she woke naturally.
"Shaohua has also grown up. I heard from your previous principal that you are very good at Go and even won a citywide first-class award," Mr. Ye said, clearly startled when he saw Ye Shaohua.
Ye Shaohua resembled her mother, but the original body had been so self-conscious that her beauty was diminished. Now that she was Ye Shaohua, there was no such lack of confidence, and in her eyes, one could vaguely see the features of Mr. Ye's ex-wife, yet Ye Shaohua possessed an additional mysterious charm.
Seeing Mr. Ye's attitude, Mrs. Ye carelessly wiped her mouth with a napkin, "Ake, don't rush your research, eat first. Afterwards, ask the butler to take you to No. 1 High School to request a leave."
Only then did Mr. Ye come to his senses, his gaze also turning towards Ye Ke, filled with affection, "I almost forgot, Ake, how is the work going in the lab?"
At the mention of this, Ye Ke typed the last line of code. No matter how mature she was, she was still only seventeen years old. To have such achievements at her age, the pride in her eyes could not be concealed, "Professor Cheng said that once I get to University Beijing, I'll join him in his research."
Speaking of which, Mr. Ye had a tremendous talent for business, and Mrs. Ye came from a wealthy family, yet it was Ye Ke who emerged as a prodigy, possessing an extraordinary talent for computers since childhood.
She was recruited by the national laboratory after participating in a competition during her first year of high school.
Someone like Ye Ke indeed had the capital to look down upon her peers.
The national laboratories are all of a secretive nature, and this Master Cheng is the person in charge of the laboratory, as well as an academician at University Beijing. To put it bluntly, even the mayor of Ning City must show him some respect.
"Shaohua, take a look, this is your sister. Your sister is really incredible, she's a genius. The number one newspaper in Ning City has reported on her many times, you should learn from her," Ye Father said proudly as he put down the newspaper, his gaze towards Ye Ke filled with pride.
Compared to Ye Ke, Shaohua's Go skills just weren't up to par.
Seeing Ye Father forget about Shaohua's existence, Madam Ye picked up her cup again, lowering her gaze to hide the irony in her eyes.
After breakfast, the Ye Family's driver specially drove the three of them to First School in the nanny van.
Ye Ke seemed very busy, occupied with writing code in the car.
To those who don't understand, this all just looks like garbled code.
Ye Shaohua sat next to Ye Ke, and knowing the original plotline where Ye Ke was a computer genius, she glanced at Ye Ke's computer, curious about what level Ye Ke's skills were truly at.
"What are you looking at?" The Butler frowned when he saw this scene, remembering that this Young Lady who returned halfway through was not a peaceful one.
"Looking at the code," Ye Shaohua glanced at it and then, uninterested, withdrew her gaze.
"Can sister understand it?" Anyone knowledgeable who saw Ye Ke's coding speed would be amazed. Yet Ye Shaohua had just given it a quick look, clearly a layman. That's why Ye Ke deliberately asked.
But what she didn't know was that in front of her, was a precursor in computer play. In this task world, if Shaohua said she was second, there really weren't many people in the world who dared to claim first.
That's why her gaze was so indifferent.
Ye Shaohua leaned her hand against the car window, propping her chin lazily, "It's all right, I guess."
"It's all right, I guess?" The Butler took one look at Shaohua, speaking indifferently, "Young Lady, the Second Young Lady was able to develop new software on her own at the age of fifteen. She is the youngest and most promising individual in the Ning City laboratory..."
"Enough, Uncle Wang. Why explain to this kind of person?" Ye Han had been sneaking glances at Shaohua, a hint of doubt in his eyes.
His brand-new racing car indeed had a problem last night. If not for the fact that he had instructed the driver on a whim before the race, their Club's driver would probably have already met his end in the Underworld. Just thinking about it sent chills down his spine.
Naturally, he also remembered what Shaohua had reminded him about.
But, he had long heard that Shaohua grew up in a place that was less than a third-tier city. How could she understand racing cars?
Ye Han utterly refused to believe that Shaohua could notice something that even the Club's professional drivers had missed, so it had to be a coincidence, Shaohua had simply stumbled upon the right conclusion by accident.
Ye Ke also covered her mouth with a laugh, "Sister doesn't understand these things; it's not her fault."
Ye Shaohua cleaned her ear, thinking that this level of programming skill was something even the minimally trained individuals in her previous organization could achieve.
So she really didn't see anything particularly impressive about Ye Ke.
Afterwards, everyone in the car harbored their own thoughts and didn't speak. When they reached First School, they went their separate ways. The Butler took Shaohua to see the Principal, as Ye Father had donated a library to the School.
The Principal was quite familiar with the Ye Family, so he directly assigned Shaohua to the best class in First School, Senior Three, Class One, and personally accompanied Shaohua and the Butler there.
The class teacher, Teacher Zhang, had already received Shaohua's school records the previous day, and now at the classroom door, upon seeing the Principal bring Shaohua over, he immediately furrowed his brow, "Principal, I've considered it, and we can't accept this student in our class."
The Principal did not expect Teacher Zhang to be so unsupportive. He adjusted his glasses, "In front of Butler Ye, could you give me some face at least? Moreover, Student Ye has been at the top of her class at her previous school."
Hearing this, Teacher Zhang shook his head resolutely, "Principal, let's be professional here. Class One is First School's experimental class, every student is the nation's future pillar of talent. As for Student Ye's grades, you've seen them too; even the top student from her school wouldn't make it into our class. Her presence in our class might disrupt our gifted students' studies, especially with college entrance exams approaching. I don't want to affect our students' studies because of her and drag down our class' matriculation rate."
Each class's average grades and exam rankings are linked to the class teacher's performance, and Teacher Zhang had no intention of letting Shaohua join his class upon receiving her records.
