Chapter 13: 13: Future plans + Jaya
Hearing this question made Eren smile. Such a casual question and yet he had spent countless days and nights thinking about it. After all, one wrong step could cause Sengoku or one of the five elders to send an admiral - or even Garp - after him.
Although he wasn't too afraid of Garp. He had the feeling that the old man almost always let his enemies go, as long as they weren't really evil. But maybe that was a privilege reserved for the family.
In the beginning Eren thought that he would like to join the Revolutionary Army. Their officers were quite strong and he would be in an organization led by a Yonko-level figure. He would also get some pretty good training methods since Dragon was once a member of the Marines as well as Garp's son. He definitely knew Rokushiki.
The main problem he had with the Revolutionary Army was their way of doing things. Of course, taking over some countries would be quite good to show the rest of the world that a change of the ruling class might not be impossible, but in the end, such a method wouldn't work in the One Piece world.
In a world where might made right, you needed the biggest fist. No matter if the Revolutionary Army had ten times as many members as the Navy. As long as they couldn't face the 3 Admirals, the Fleet Admiral, the 5 Elders and Imu at the same time, they would only be slaughtered by the high-end combat power.
Joining the Revolutionary Army wouldn't be the right move for Eren. However, he could cooperate with them. He would build his own high-end fighting force and use the soldiers of the Revolutionary Army to fight the weaker Marines. That way, he would only have to fight the Elders and Imu. And with Dragon and Sabo helping him, even some of them wouldn't be able to bother him in the final battle.
So he decided to become a pirate. But not just any pirate. Instead, he wanted to be a warlord of the sea. This role could be abused at the beginning of his journey, as it would give him enough time to grow.
Most Yonko didn't really care about the warlords, and they enjoyed immunity from the Marines as long as they didn't commit crimes against the Marines' interests.
For this reason, it would be great for him to become a warlord right now to enjoy partial immunity until he became strong enough. The only question was who he should take the title from, since the government had probably already filled all positions.
The warlords Eren knew were currently in that position were Gecko Moria, Donquinxote Doflamingo, Dracule Mihawk, Crocodile, and probably Boa Hancock and Jinbe. Bartholomeo Kuma would become one of them a few years later. That leaves one unknown warlord that Eren doesn't currently know about.
At first, like any single fanfic protagonist, Eren wanted to beat up Crocodile and take his position. But later he realized that doing so might change Robin's fate and mean that she would never join the Straw Hats. Although Eren didn't really have a problem with that, the World Will had warned him that this might alert "him" to his presence.
For the same reason, Jinbe, Gecko Moria, and probably even Hancock were out of the question. Even though Hancock wasn't really a member of Luffy's crew, she was still very close to him. It was even possible that she would marry him in the end. If only Eren could have finished the manga before his transmigration.
'Damn Oda. Couldn't your visions have come more often?'
Anyway, that didn't leave him many options. Mihawk was out of the question because he was way too strong. Doflamingo was an okay target, but honestly not what Eren would prefer. He didn't know how close Doffy was to the government at the moment, since he came from a line of Celestial Dragons.
He also had close ties to Kaido, one of the Yonko, according to Eren's knowledge, so even if he had defeated him, he would have offended one of the Overlords of the Sea.
This left the unknown seventh warlord as his only option. Therefore, his answer to Wyper's earlier question was now clear.
"We're going to buy a newspaper!"
Wyper just looked at Eren strangely before he gave up. He really couldn't see through this strange captain of his. After staring into the air for two minutes, he answered his question about their plans by saying that he wanted to buy a newspaper. Shouldn't he want to conquer the world or something like that?
Eren didn't really care what Wyper thought, so he just told Enel to steer their ship towards Jaya, where he hoped to get some information about the current warlords and the general situation of the world.
As they approached the island, its shape became clearer. It almost looked as if it had been split in two, but it was only held together by a tiny connection. To any other observer, this would look like a normal island, but Eren knew that it was supposed to resemble the lower part of a skull.
Although it didn't really look like that. You had to be extremely creative to recognize it's supposed shape without the upper half.
"By the way, Eren, won't we attract too much attention if we arrive on a flying ship?" Enel asked him suddenly. He knew Eren's general plan, but not exactly how he wanted to do it.
"Don't worry," Eren reassured Enel, "I plan to rid Jaya of its greedy pirates. That way, the marines will know about us and may even seek cooperation, and as long as I gain some initial fame for slaughtering pirates, they will be more likely to grant me the title of warlord."
Enel realized that his brother's words seemed to have some truth to them. At the same time, he sometimes wondered how his brother knew so much about the outside world. But what's the point of thinking to much? As long as it was to Enel's advantage, he didn't care how his brother had acquired this knowledge.
As they were about to reach Jaya, the first pirates suddenly noticed something flying in the sky.
"Say, is that a flying ship? I should definitely stay away from the liquor for a few days. What have they put in here to make me hallucinate?" said a drunken pirate to his crewmates. But when he looked up, he saw the same thing. He immediately ran to the captain's cabin.
"Captain, we have struck it rich. A flying ship is approaching!"
The news quickly spread throughout the island.
"As long as we can make this ship our own, we will have no opponents in the Grand Line. We will be invincible." Many pirate crews thought the same. Therefore, it only took about 5 minutes for every single pirate with any ambition to gather on the shore of the island.
In the back were 3 pirates who seemed to be much stronger than the others. They were the current rulers of Jaya, since Bellamy hadn't arrived on the island yet.
One of them was extremely fat, and his entire exposed belly was filled with cuts and stab wounds. He was Antonov "The Tank". With a bounty of nearly 45 million, he was the third strongest pirate on the island. Using his fat belly to tank most attacks, he had never suffered internal injuries in his entire career as a pirate.
To his right, a small woman of about 150 cm stood. She seemed to be about 50 years old and wore a scarf made of a whole fox around her neck. She carried a small sword at her waist and was known for her ability to cut through steel. Her name was Gisela "Fox Scarf" and her bounty was 50 million.
To her right was the fiercest pirate on the island. His face was covered in scars and he looked like he had been through countless battles. He had eaten the Inu-Inu no Mi model: French Bulldog. His bounty was a whopping 55 million. It was the Pirate "Mouthbreather" Cupcake.
He had already earned his bounty before he ate the Devil Fruit. The only thing the Devil Fruit got him was his nickname, since he couldn't breathe properly in his human-beast form. No one had ever seen him use his pure beast form, and it was considered something of a legend on Jaya.
Aside from these three big names, there were a few other pirates with bounties in the tens of millions, but they were not considered the top contenders for the ship.
When Eren saw all the people gathered in front of them, a broad smile appeared on his face. "What a warm welcome. Thank you for greeting us right as we arrive. Smite them down, Enel, leave only the three in the back standing".
The pirates on the beach were confused. Did this guy really think he could take them all on at once? And what did he mean by smiting them down?
Luckily for them, their confusion was quickly dispelled as dozens of thunderbolts flew at them from the flying ship. None of the pirates were able to dodge them, and all were instantly fried.
A few of the stronger ones survived, but they were badly injured and would die if they didn't receive medical treatment in the near future.
Seeing their subordinates being killed like ants, the three big guys in the back became terrified. They wanted to flee as quickly as possible, knowing that they had no chance, but of course Eren wouldn't let them escape.
"Wyper, you fight the guys, I will take care of the woman." With these words, Eren jumped off the ship. At the same time he shortened the distance between him and the last female pirate with the help of his Celestial Fruit so that they were practically standing in front of each other and took a step forward.
He was instantly in front of Gisela, who barely had time to react before he sliced her head off with a blade made of compressed space. When her headless body collapsed to the ground, Eren shook his own head in disappointment. The enemies on the first half of the Grand Line were really too weak. No wonder they called it a paradise for weaker pirates.
Finally, he turned his attention to Wyper, who had engaged Cupcake and Antonov. This was the real reason why he told Enel to spare some enemies. He mainly wanted to test Wyper's current strength.
