Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 73: The Inevitable Situation, Gradually Changing Thoughts_4

Apart from a large amount of basic and advanced metal materials, there were also a small number of special metal materials.

Their purpose was naturally obvious.

After moving the dozen or so crates, although Chen Ming had confirmed that the boss hadn't shorted him, he still pretended to count them and signed the delivery receipt.

However, the day's tasks weren't over yet.

Chen Ming directly closed the cabin door and started the engine of Iron Ore No.

He piloted Iron Ore No. out of the Space Station alone and entered the Superspace Channel at the edge of the Star System.

He set off for the Dark Graveyard.

Iron Ore No. virtually arrived at the destination in an instant and connected to the communication channel controlled by the two Gamma AI ships.

Although Chen Ming took time every day to chat with the two AIs near the Dark Graveyard, discussing matters about Dusk or humanity.

However, out of concern, in case Dusk also suffered from depression or similar issues, Chen Ming specifically asked, "Are you guys okay being here alone?"

Gamma A, as usual, immediately answered Chen Ming's question, "No problem, we can pass the time by studying the previously downloaded data."

"As long as you can occasionally take us back to a Star System with Dusk communication beacons, we can stay here indefinitely."

After Gamma A finished speaking, Gamma B simply added, "Me too."

"That's good then."

After confirming that the Gamma AI was fine, Chen Ming turned to focus on what he needed to do.

Repair the ships.

In the Dark Graveyard, there were a total of four ships parked, namely Refraction, Dawn, Warrior-modified, and Centurion.

The Refraction class had been inspected at the Dusk Colony before, so it didn't need maintenance, while the remaining three ships were repaired with the help of a panel.

Apart from the Dawn class, another Dusk Ship, having relatively more severe damage and thus taking a bit more time, the other two were almost instantly repaired.

Actually, the Dawn class had the opportunity to be repaired when the Refraction was docked at the colony before,

but because the ship was brought to the Refraction class in a destroyed state, its original AI Core had been removed and the hull abandoned.

Hence, at Dusk, this Dawn class fell into the hands of Gamma A.

Repairing it at the colony wasn't free, as it required consuming Gamma A's resource allocation.

Though it wasn't unaffordable, repairing it would mean having to unload all four ships squeezed into the Refraction class at that time.

And a factory is a place most lacking in all sorts of weird-functioned equipment.

If a ship factory had scanning equipment and happened to scan the inside of Iron Ore No., it would be a huge problem.

So back then Chen Ming felt it was too risky and simply gave up the idea.

It was only later that Chen Ming learned the details about the Dusk ship factory while chatting with Gamma A.

Simply put, you need to request something specific, and only then will the factory do it for you.

If there was no specific request and the ship wasn't visibly damaged, the factory certainly wouldn't waste fuel to activate the scanning equipment.

But the problem wasn't big, Chen Ming could do the repairs himself.

After all, Gamma A's assets were his assets, using Gamma A's resource allocation was equivalent to using his own money.

So from the outcome, Chen Ming did not incur any unnecessary expenses.

After waiting a while longer, until the Dawn class was fully repaired,

Chen Ming opened the panel to check and confirmed there were still a lot of remaining materials he had purchased.

These were not extra due to miscalculation but intentionally bought in surplus, planning to modify other ships similarly to Iron Ore No.

Although, after a warning from the factory manager, Chen Ming knew that his current haphazard modifications might be useless in the future and have to be dismantled.

But what if?

What if he got the armed ship permit, and what if he actually didn't go to the Prosperous Star Realm, wouldn't these modifications come in handy?

So Chen Ming finally decided not to overthink, modify first and talk later.

When the ship reaches the bridge, it will naturally straighten.

If it doesn't, he would rely on his own ability to forcibly align the ship.
