Chapter 16: That time I got reincarnated as a cat.
POV: Certe
It's been a few minutes since I somehow got turned into this... kitten, I think it's a kitten. At least this form was comfortable, I know of quite a few others who are just horrible. Honestly, why did I ever think of trying the form of a tree? Anyways, the first thing I did was to to learn how to walk as whatever I got turned into now.
It wasn't that hard though, as I already had some experience with how to walk in the form of a dog.
After that I tried to access my powers, since I really needed to be sure that nothing broke. I found out that it was way more difficult then before, but I was able to keep tabs on time in general to make sure it didn't collapse. Then I tried to put my powers to practical use, I started by changing the rate of time in a one millimeter cubed area and continued to expand from there. Sadly, I was only able to change time on a small scale of around five centimeters cubed and only slowing things down a slight bit.
I was going to just transport myself of this body since the novelty of it had worn off, but I noticed something right before I did so; This body had a space affinity and some kind of space Mana stuff that I was pretty sure shouldn't exist at all. The fact that it had a space affinity meant something really good for me. As long as I stay in this body, even if I should 'die' from lack of faith, Terse's power would make it so that I couldn't die completely!
This was exactly what I needed to stay alive until that idiotic church was destroyed!
Well, since I wont get out of this body anytime soon, I should prepare myself for my new life for the foreseeable future. From how the Mana moved in the air around me, I should be in a dungeon. And since the dungeon hasn't tried to kill me yet, I suppose I'm one of its monsters.
Alright, lets refresh myself on how I had made those... I had pretty much copied everything from some random other universe I had found. I had even thrown in a rather sloppily made 'system' in there. I'm quite thankful neither me or my brother gave it to the humans, who knows just how badly they'd break it? Anyways, dungeons were made from a random selection of souls that entered the reincarnation process, meaning they were sapient and could be reasoned with.
And hadn't I also threw something up for some sort tutorial? Yeah... yeah I did, took one of the old souls from dungeons and used them to teach others.
Guess I now need to learn how to deal with my new existence then. I looked properly at the room I got 'reincarnated' in and was immediately convinced that the dungeon who got me was insane (Why is there a fish in the wall?) But it seemed like I was in a test room of sort, a good idea to make something of the sort if one wants to learn new stuff.
Though, since it was a test room, I really had a good advantage. It meant that I could determine the affinity of the dungeon I was in. I looked more closely at the area around me and how the Mana behaved before recognizing what affinity it was.
This dungeon got the space affinity... guess I should have known that from my body's affinity.
But one thing was still bad for me, how do I get out of this room? There were no entrance nor exit from this room, and even the rudimentary instinct planted in my body had no idea of where I was. If only I could simply walk through the walls to the true dungeon. Wait... the fish! That fish halfway stuck in the wall must have some sort of phasing ability!
I analyzed what it is that the fish was doing trying to do. From what I can tell, it used that weird space Mana that I'm pretty sure isn't space Mana and used it to simply swim through the wall! Quite simple really, it distorted the space around it just enough to be able to pass through but it was also just the right quantity to be able to push itself from the area around it!
And since I was in a body made from the same dungeon as this fish, I should probably have some of the stuff. It took a bit of work, but I managed to gain full control of my space 'Mana' and started practicing with it. From what I can tell, its default state is a sort of perfect cutting tools layered over my claws. I could tell this was perfect for killing with just a mere glance.
I then started my journey to walk through walls by making myself able to swipe my paws through the flo0r, and then most of my body, and then my whole body. You would think that I wouldn't be able to see anything while in the walls right? Well with that strange space 'Mana' that seemed way too alive for my comfort, I could actually tell where stuff was easily.
Walking/swimming through walls is something I could get used to, It really is peaceful and nice.
I made my way to what I think is the first room of the dungeon. It was an interesting use of space magic, but overall wasn't all that impressive. Though it would almost certainly stump a couple of humans.
The second room was better than the first, a good torture method that is certain.
The third room is just plain annoying, which I guess makes it a great room. All of those reflections and portals just makes me want to bash my head in.
The core room was quite interesting though, the walls were made out of something that looked like an approximation of a fractal and actually gave it a sort of strange beauty. What was inside the room however, was quite strange. A dungeon core spirit/tutorial/guide taking the shape of a teen kitsune girl was cuddling another monster of the same species as I was made into.
The cat looked at me, and talked in the deepest voice I had ever heard, "Hi! I'm Almond! Wanna be friends?"
I had the urge to attack the dungeon who made this living contradiction that was now in front of me.
