Chapter 773 ( Rika's Death - III )
Ehit, who had watched everything in silence, remained silent, though he had to admit that this was very different from what he had planned.
What he had wanted, was for Umbra to take possession of this human so that he could eliminate all his enemies, though what he didn't think would happen, was to see how Umbra's consciousness was still inside the sword.
Ehit always thought the consciousness inside Umbra was that of the mixture of all the souls that had been used as sacrifices when they forged it, but now he saw that he was wrong, the consciousness inside Umbra was none other than that of Umbra himself, the shadow god who was used as a sacrifice to create the weapon with his bones.
"Did you know that?" - Kouki muttered weakly.
Ehit didn't answer, he simply kept silent.
"Tell me!" - Kouki roared, but continued to receive silence in response.

Cloud stood in silence as he looked at the cold corpse of the girl who had been with him since the first world, the confused woman who had a strange relationship with him. They were not lovers, but they were closer than friends.
"Cloud..." - Yue murmured as she looked worriedly at the blond boy.
Cloud didn't respond, he simply kept silent as he looked up at the sky.
No words could describe what he was feeling right now, so the girls decided to leave him alone.
Cloud bent down and took a long look at Rika's body, only to let out a long sigh - "Why didn't you listen to me? Why didn't you wait for me to come?"
"Strife..." - A male voice said.
"Endou..." - Cloud muttered without taking his eyes off the corpse of his dimensional companion - ". . ."
"Sorry..." - Endou muttered while ducking his gaze.
"What are you sorry for?" - Cloud asked as he gave her a quick glance before shaking his head and focusing on Rika's body - "It's not your fault, she made her choice, and now we see the results..."
"But if she had been here..." - Endou said.
"You would have died along with everyone else!" - Cloud interrupted him as he shot him a cold glare - "Leave it, you're not to blame..."
Endou nodded weakly before retreating.
"If I want to blame someone for Rika's death, it's that son of a bitch Amanogawa and Ehit..." - Cloud muttered as he let out another sigh - "What am I going to tell Shizuka and the others?"
Cloud didn't know what to do, it was the first time during his entire journey that he felt like he had truly lost. He knew there would be deaths during his journey between dimensions, but he didn't think it would be this fast.
"Cloud..." - Yue said as he walked over to the blond - "It's okay if you want to cry, you just lost a person important to you."
"No, I'm not going to cry," Cloud muttered as he closed his eyes, "Not because I don't feel the pain of loss, but because I can't cry..."
Cloud's soul was crying out for the death of his comrade, but his expression was listless, it was as if he was struggling to show any kind of emotion, but no matter how much time passed, he was still as usual, although if one were to look closely into Cloud's eyes, one would notice a huge darkness inside.
Yue hugged Cloud with all his might before leaving the blond alone again.
Cloud was silent for a few seconds until he felt the presence of someone familiar - "Are you guys coming in one at a time?"
"Cloud, we're worried about you" - Shea said regretfully - "I'm sorry..."
"Like I told Endou, you don't have to apologise" - Cloud replied as he let out a sigh - "Ehit and Amanogawa are to blame..."
Shea hugged the blond before silently retreating.
Cloud shook his head before he felt Tio come over next to apologize for not getting here faster.
Cloud shook his head before telling her that it wasn't her fault, something that was repeated with the other female members of their group.
"Thank you..." - Cloud muttered as he narrowed his eyes - "But you don't have to feel sorry for me.... but for Amanogawa and Ehit, because when I'm done with them, they'll wish they were never born..."

Two days had passed since Cloud had arrived at the site of the massacre, time in which the blond had used to give a dignified burial to the poor people who came looking for riches and met their death, though not before putting Rika's body in a glass coffin and keeping it in his inventory because there was no way he would leave a companion in this world, not when it was obvious that the others would want to say goodbye to their friend, especially Shizuka.
The blond was still cursing that he hadn't thought more of Rika, after all, he could have had her come with them and saved himself all this suffering that couldn't escape his chest.
"This is the last one, Cloud," Yue said as he shook his head.
"Yes, it's time to get back to our main mission..." - Cloud said neutrally.
The girls had changed with Rika's death, they put even more effort into their training because they didn't want to be the next to die, even Meiru was working on her physical training to get back to her optimal state.
"Dad..." - Myu said with concern - "Are you alright?"
"Yeah" - Cloud replied as he nodded with a small smile - "I'm just still a little sad about the loss of an old friend..."
Myu ducked her gaze before handing a red flower to her adoptive father, who received it with a small smile over his lips - "It's to cheer you up, daddy."
"Thank you, Myu" - smiled Cloud as he hugged the girl - "I really appreciate it".
Myu smiled when she saw that she had cheered up her father a bit, and then ran off to her mother.
"I see you're back to normal" - Meiru said as she folded her arms - "I know the loss of a loved one is hard to accept, but we have to move on for those we left behind, besides, this serves as motivation so we can take revenge on those who caused this disaster."
"I've always heard that revenge is not good, and here you are preaching the opposite" - Cloud replied as he gave him a blank stare.
"Anyone who says that, it's because they've never lost someone close to them because of someone else" - Meiru replied neutrally - "They only say that to feel morally superior, but when it happens, they're the first to try to plunge the perpetrator into the deepest of despair..."
Cloud didn't reply, he simply nodded weakly before turning to think - "Thanks, I guess."
"You're welcome" - Meiru replied as she retreated without looking back.
Cloud shook his head before looking up at the sky and noticing how it was starting to cloud over - "I guess this was what was missing, it had to start raining... what a depressing weather"
"I'm thinking the same thing" - said a female voice that the blond immediately recognised.
"Rika?" - Cloud asked in surprise as he looked around.
"Yes, although I would like to talk to you in a different way..." - Rika replied sadly.
"How is that possible?" - Cloud asked as he frowned and looked around apprehensively, after all, it was possible that someone was trying to trick him with the voice of the girl who had just died.
"I'm not sure either, but I think it's one of the system's functions," Rika replied, confused with the overall situation.
Cloud raised an eyebrow before asking the system.
[Answering the user's question, the system keeps a constant record of the user's actions and decisions during dimensional travel, this also applies to recruits. In case of death, the "memories and personalities" will be downloaded and archived in the user's database].
"Wait, does that mean I can revive her?" - Cloud asked in surprise.
[Impossible to answer]
"If you don't answer, it's because there's a possibility" - muttered Cloud as he started to think - "What about the Rinnegan?"
[The Rinnegan can revive other people, but only entities that came in direct contact with Naruto's world onwards]
"You mean I'll only be able to revive recruits who are still alive for that world?" - Cloud asked while frowning - "Does that apply to all worlds with revive mechanics?"
[That's right]
Cloud frowned before letting out a sigh - "I see... although that still doesn't explain how it's possible that I can talk to Rika."
[That's because Rika Minami is a recruit and is directly connected to the user, she can interact with you through conversation. She can interact with you for 10 minutes every 7 days]
Cloud again frowned before nodding, though he still thought this was stupid, unless there was a way to be able to revive Rika, a way that was possibly not currently available, though there was also the possibility that this was not possible and this was a very big misunderstanding brought about by the lack of information he had.
