NOVEL NEXT Chapter 9: limit
As we get to the dining room Elise takes a deep breath then looks at me "we have some guests for dinner " I nod then we walked in her be for me for political reasons
after I come in I bowed to everyone in greeting then I noticed two new faces to the dining table the duke's son and the Duke himself they both look at me " O I didn't think the human will be joining us " the Duke said with a bit of disgust on his face
I ignored it and sat down in my seat " yes the queen offered our hospitality to him " the Duke looks me up and down " Hmmm I'm surprised you allowed it considering your history with humans "
The king nods " true but he is not a human from this world and has only shown respect for our people plus he has become friends with my daughter " he said to the Duke and he nods but his son looks at me with disgust and anger
After eating the Duke turned to the king" so about our arrangement what are you thoughts on it what we talked about "
The king looks a the Duke with a calm expression " I'm sorry but I have decided to keep to the original time my daughter deserves a chance to be happy "
The Duke looks at the king slightly annoyed
" what does a month matter do you think someone is going to appear sweep her of her feet or do you expect her to marry this human and what about her safety and the kingdoms while you wait to decide it just a waste of time my son will be able to protect her he is the best fire mage in the kingdom and they may not love each other now but they will in the future think some more about it I will take my leave now your majesty " he said Then got up with his son then left
The king and queen let out a heavy breath and the king close his eyes for a few seconds I could see angry and appreciation in her eyes even if her face was call " thank you for not giving up on the rest of the time father" she said to him as the king looks at his daughter
"I want you to be happy little girl " he said lovingly Elise got up and hugged her father then the queen joined them it was very awkward for me But as I watched them I couldn't help but think what a lovely family they are it was almost a curse that the were born into royalty were they had to make such decisions feeling like they wanted to have a family I silently got up and whent back to my room
When I get inside I see shadow laying on the floor I scratch his head then sit on my bed
" what has got you down " he asked me
" how can you tell " I asked " because I can sense how you are feeling slightly because of our contract " I nodded then signed deeply "it's just the whole thing with Elise I don't if I should interfere in it I like her and she likes me I think I just don't know if it's my place to do anything she hasn't talked to me about it I just don't know what to think or do really im messing with a whole kingdom if i get involved" I said to him
He let out a little breath " I don't know what to tell you really other then do what feel right in you heart if you find that you love her then take a chance and see how she feels it's better then letting that piece of hogshit be with her if she doesn't want it she will be in a trapped in a loveless marriage with him just for her kingdom and you'll regret not asking like you always do " he said to me I lay down on my bed to think about all of this then eventually close my eyes to sleep...
..2 weeks later.. I'm in the training hall sparing with Elise she hasn't been the same since the dinner she still smiles and greets me but the is some sadness and anger in her eyes now when I see them now I still haven't tried to take the next step in forming a relationship and neither has she
" are you excited about our bounty hunt tomorrow " Elise said after our spar
I nodded " yeah I can't wait I always wanted to do bounty hunting my world didn't really have something like that in my time it was before me" after 3 weeks of training my bond is pretty strong now at least enough for me to be able to fight things so yesterday Elise took me to adventurers guild to register so I can take missions she didn't want me to take a bounty hunting mission but I really wanted to do one so she was going to help me
" remember it can be very dangerous even if it's one of the lower level ones " she said " I will be careful plus I will have you with me " I said to her with a smile she smiled back then she left to deal with her stuff
The next day I woke up excited for the mission to day I got cleaned up then got dressed and left my room with shadow to a stunned Elise " what I'm excited today " I said to her " waking you up is my thing don't do my thing " she said and pouted cutely like a child
I laughed " next time I'll go back to sleep just for you" I said and she chuckles a little then we make our way to breakfast as usual the king,queen and zamel are there waiting for us and shadow and we all started eating
After breakfast Elise,shadow and I made our way to the palace entrance and just out side the courtyard two lizard like creatures are there they took the the one obi-wan was riding " these are the only mounts that can get someone through the forest mist with out getting disoriented we will use them to get to were the slavers are supposed to be hold up " Elise said to me and we mounted the lizards they were very well trained then we made our way out of the city and into the forest
we are hunting down a small group of slavers that have been hitting a couple of towns around the city and have been using the mist in the forest as cover but there location was discovered 2 days ago bye accident but do to being spread to thin already do to the war the city guard couldn't be spared to deal with them so they put a bounty out for them they are suspected to have four people with that they have kidnapped all women aged fourteen and up They have seven members so hopefully it won't go to bad and they aren't to strong will it should be since it was a low rank bounty
after traveling for a couple hours with Elise in the lead we finally reached were they are supposed to be hold up we stop just outside the area and dismount then Elise comes and rubs a pink flower on my face "this will keep you from getting disoriented and clear the mist a lot for a little bit " she said then does the same to herself while elves don't get as effected as the other races it better to be in top condition just in case
As we moved forward forward and with the mist cleared up a lot I can see 40ft in front of me now eventually a cabin built in a clear with the trees they cut down there were three guards outside talking to each other I look over at Elise " can they see us" I asked her since I assume they have something like us so they can see and not get disoriented she shakes her head " no the flower I had are grown in the royal garden at best they can only see 20 ft in front of them" she said to and I nod
After a little bit one of the people whent back in the cabin " I got bit of a plan "I say to Elise the I explained what my idea was it could work but "we have to be fast and quiet" she said to and I nod then turn to shadow " do you think you can do it " he looks at me a little hurt I asked " of course I can I just have to appear behind him" shadow said " Good you guys ready then " they nodded
After getting in a clear view of the guards outside the cabin but they sill can't see me I hold on of my arms up and the guard on the right came flying towards me and be for he knew what happened I slammed him on a tree near me and covered his mouth while Elise summons her ice spear and stabbed his heart
The other guard looked over in confusion at what happened but before he could react a shadow appeared behind him and all the last thing he saw was darkness before his headless body hit the floor I raised my other hand to make sure it didn't make any sound just like that two of them where down
We quickly made our way to the entrance of the cabin and peak in a little it wasn't big there was just a dinning room and what I assume is two bedrooms there was two guards in the dining room one was the one that just came back in and there is another person standing outside of the rooms which I can hear slightly sobbing and from the other room I can hear grunts and slight moans and whimpers
" I'll take the two in the dining room I can use my lightning to make me faster so I can get there before they noticed and shadow can appear behind one of them" she nods and I coat myself in lightning and rush in quickly and are behind one of the slavers before they knew it and I did a little jump and spun in the air and kicked him full force in the head killing him instantly then I used my gravity magic and held both the other slavers in place so Elise and shadow can kill them
After all that was left was the room where the grunts are coming from I was about to kick in the door but Elise stopped me " it's probably better if it's me " she said and nod she is right the last thing I'm sure they want is another man even if we are here to rescue them Elise kicked the door in and a man screamed like he was being butchered alive then Elise came out with a young looking elf all disheveled and bruised up from beatings I assume And liquid dripping down her leg she had beautiful eyes but they are hallow and almost lifeless now a bit of cloth wrapped around her to cover her but it does a poor job in doing so
I turn around to not be disrespectful of what state she was in Elise went to the other room to get the rest of them and couldn't help but feel angry and sadness at the fact that I'm in a new world but the same terrible stuff happened and I have reached my limit of tolerance for it I vowed if I can change It i shall I will have the power to do such things in the future and I will use it and the first to feel my wrath will be slavers
