NOVEL NEXT Chapter 72: secured
Days and weeks slowly past by as the town got built up the villagers that were there before we're shocked but happy at the speed the village grew becoming more like a real town and although they skeptical at first but once the food situation changed and the first caravan of traders appeared unharmed they decided to put all their faith into their new lord and lady
It was hard not too when their adorable daughter ran or flew around putting a smile on everyone face a couple even started thinking that they were sent by their god to finally lead them out of hard times
Another thing that happened during this time was that a group of lizard-man visited the town led by ka'zeck some people voiced their outrage towards them luckily his wife was there to keep him in check while we dealt with our people
Eventually everything settled down and a trade agreement was reached obvious they were free too barter with what ever they could bring and with us paying them for any spare food they won't have no money for long
At some point some lizard-man even started helping with the crop fields that were coming along nicely thanks to Leon and a few others we didn't even have to pay them they just said it was in service of their goddess
Seeing this the ex-villagers let up a bit on their anger towards the lizard-man I even caught Alistair staring at one of the female lizard-man working the fields
When I talked to him about out of concern of something happening he explained that he's been lonely since the mother of his child died giving birth he never thought about it before but now that things we're getting better and his daughter was getting older he wanted a partner and someone for his daughter so the can be a proper family even if that someone wasn't human
I was a bit shocked hearing this but I told him as long as he didn't force it and backed of if she wasn't feeling it he was free too court her which to my surprise went well the first couple times he tried she obviously wasn't feeling it but the third time before I could tell him to call it something changed and she started responding to him much better
One day when I went to check how the fields were doing I noticed the two of them where miss when I asked about it the Dwarves and lizard-man farmers were reluctant to answer i just let it go when I realized what was going on ' I guess their religion doesn't have a no sex before marriage thing '
All in all the village started looking more like a proper town maybe even city it's once starving citizens were now happy and healthy looking forward to a brighter tomorrow
Right now Elise,Emily and I were standing in the courtyard we were about to go see Wolfgar about his willingness to open a trade route with from over the sea if he did we would have exclusive access to the beast empire's goods giving us a great boon in the trading space
" Don't worry we will handle everything while your gone " Elise nodded " thank you we shouldn't be gone more then a few hours "
With that Elise hugged me having her wings cover us while emily nestled comfortably between us
Appearing as usually in the courtyard we took a second to look at the city it was very busy beastmen and humans moved around the cobblestone streets doing whatever their lives requires it was more peaceful then I would have thought considering what it took to get her but the beastmen were always a peaceful race so I guess it made sense
I'm sure despite appearances there is still people trying too continue what was happening humans are spiteful creatures they always try to hold onto what they believe even if it's wrong otherwise we wouldn't have still had nazi's in our world
Elise squeezed my to get my attention " it's no use being angry about those things now" I sighed knowing she was right it's not good to get myself riled up about these things
"...look" she drew my attention to one of the streets nearby what I say made me lose my train of thought for a second
" is that you and papa" Emily asked Elise looking at the same statue as me it was just me and Elise it was everyone of the main group of fighters
wolfgar was the most prominent figure but I could still make out Elise and I together to the side of him " wow wasn't expecting that and yes sweetheart that is us " Elise had a giant smile on her face
" look at you a lord with your own land a revolutionary hero now you got your own statue I'm going to start feeling inadequate at this rare " chuckling I pulled her closer
" that will never happen your a goddess and I'm just a peasant trying to be good enough to be by your side " as we shared a tender kiss we heard a cough behind us
" I need to make a rule about you why didn't you just send a letter you keep making my guard freak out" wolfgar was standing at the entrance of the palace ready for a fight
I shrugged " I could...but this is faster " Shane appeared from behind moving towards Emily he was confused until he saw his wives " did I tell you two to stay put in case it was dangerous "
They both gave him a look " dear two people and a child appeared out of thin air who else could it have possibly been" grumbling he let it go " so...why have you come " asked wolfgar
A hour later we were in a circular room discussing the trading pact like routes, products and other thing ... well most Elise handled it sinceshe knew what she was talking about " I am willing to do all this for you but I need your help with something
I looked at him curious what he needed help with " an army from a nearby kingdom has been gathering near the border of the empire since I sent a good portion of my force to the elves my army is spead a bit thin trying to keep everything in check "
" so you want me to travel to the boarder and assist you troops there what do you expect one person to be able too do " wolfgar smirked hearing that
" don't try to fool me I know and have seen what you can do you should be more then enough to deal with it " I guess I can check it out and make sure it doesn't escalate further
" fine mark it on a map and I'll head there as soon as I can " wolfgar smiled putting his right hand to his chest " thank you i appreciate it...I'm at ease now knowing someone I can just will go there and I'll make the arrangements for the routes as soon as possible "
With that we left the room to find the kids they were suppose to be in a classroom like place in the castle it was their to help weath kids get a education but now anyone was welcome as long as they had room
" why did you agree we talked about this " Elise whispered to me obviously not happy about the agreement " it's fine it's not that big of a deal " she gave me one of her trademark disapproving looks
" it's an army " grabbing her hand I pulled her closer " it will be fine I'm not going there to fight just check out the situation and make sure not bad happens that's all"
She rolled her eyes continuing to follow wolfgar 'I don't think she believes you' the demon commented
' no shit...thanks Lt. Obvious ' grumbling to myself I caught up to her and wolfgar
when we reached the classroom i was shocked to see Emily was her usual up beat and social self which worried me although she was currently with the group of kids I felt something was different
I walked over there fully intending too find out who dared to hurt my daughter but she noticed me when I was half way there I was more confused and angry when she ran to me hugging my lower half
" papa can we leave please " she didn't look up when she said that making my heart ache ' what happened while we're gone'
I picked her up after giving the group of kids a nasty look making them pale a little without a word I went over to Elise who hugged us and just like that we disappeared leaving everyone there stunned
"What happened my little dragon " Elise asked Emily trying to figure out what happened
Emily wiggled out of my hold walking to the stairs of our castle " it's fine I just want to be alone right now " her figure disappeared up the spiraling steps that led to the living quarters were here room was
I looked at Elise not sure what to do " it fine I'll try talking to her later "
