Soul Land: Xiao Yan Reincarnates as Huo Yuhao

Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Misunderstandings and a Battle of Legends

Dark clouds churned violently in the sky as a massive black dragon, its body gleaming with jet-black scales and radiating a dark purple glow, hovered ominously above. In a sudden flash of black light, the dragon shifted, morphing into a human figure clad in black robes. He appeared to be in his forties, with sharp, handsome features and a golden strand of hair cascading down one side of his face.

This was none other than Di Tian, the Beast God, and the most powerful of the Ten Great Savage Beasts.

---

The crescent-shaped white blade of energy from Yao Lao's Flame Splitting Tsunami Ruler tore through the Sky-Tearing Claw with an unstoppable force. The surrounding space rippled violently as if a boulder had been dropped into a tranquil lake. The residual energy released by the attack carved a massive fissure into the earth, leaving destruction in its wake.

Di Tian's expression darkened as he witnessed the devastating force of the attack. He understood that if he did not intervene immediately, the Bear King would undoubtedly be cleaved in two.

"Humans, how dare you!" he bellowed, his deep voice resonating through the forest. With a swift motion, he raised his right hand, which began to transform. Golden scales emerged, and his fingers elongated into razor-sharp dragon claws.

Dragon God Claw—a legendary technique inherited by the Black Dragon Clan as a gift for their loyalty to the Dragon God. The claw harnessed the Dragon God's divine power, enabling Di Tian to temporarily surpass the limits of an Ultimate Douluo and reach the threshold of a demigod.

"Dragon God Claw!"

With a thunderous roar, Di Tian swiped his claw through the air, aiming directly at the approaching white energy blade.

The two forces collided in an earth-shattering explosion that shook the entire Star Dou Forest.

Boom!

The sound of the clash echoed like a thunderclap, sending shockwaves rippling outward. Low-level soul beasts within a radius of several miles were paralyzed with fear, their senses momentarily overwhelmed. Trees were uprooted, and the land was scarred with deep cracks. Even the nearby air seemed to quiver under the pressure of the energy unleashed.

---

As the energy dissipated, the battlefield was left in ruins. Di Tian stood firm, his golden claws retracting into his robes. However, his hand trembled slightly, betraying the immense strain of the clash. His golden eyes narrowed as he gazed at Yao Lao's spectral form hovering in the air.

"A soul body with demigod-level power... What kind of monstrous strength must you have had in life?" Di Tian muttered, his voice tinged with unease. "Release the Sacred Beast, and I will let you leave."

Yao Lao remained composed, his tone calm yet commanding. "My disciple and I have no intention of harming the Sacred Beast. All we require is a wisp of its flame. However, we are also here to secure a suitable third soul ring for my disciple—a soul beast with extraordinary qualities and at least ten thousand years of cultivation."

Without hesitation, Yao Lao's figure blurred, reappearing next to the subdued Three-Eyed Golden Lion. His Heavenly Flame enveloped the area, creating an impenetrable barrier around himself, Xiao Yan, and the Sacred Beast.

Di Tian's eyes flickered with contemplation before he finally relented. With a wave of his hand, a nearby soul beast, its body battered and broken from the earlier battle, floated toward them. The creature was a Violet Spirit Fox, its sleek, dark purple fur matted with blood.

"This fox has cultivated for over 15,000 years. It should suffice," Di Tian said, his voice cold and commanding.

The Violet Spirit Fox was gently placed before Xiao Yan. The boy's weary voice reached Yao Lao. "Teacher... We should leave while we can. This Di Tian is incredibly powerful, and you cannot maintain your presence for much longer."

Yao Lao stroked his beard, a faint smile on his lips. "Don't worry, boy. Even in my weakened state, they won't be able to stop us. Besides, we've shown no hostility to the Sacred Beast. These beasts are not fools like those Shrek Academy idiots—they won't risk everything over a misunderstanding."

He glanced at the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, then released it from his grip, pushing it gently toward Di Tian. "Consider this a gesture of goodwill," he said. With a flash of white light, Yao Lao's spiritual power enveloped Xiao Yan, lifting them both into the sky and away from the forest.

---

As the two figures disappeared into the distance, the Bear King stomped over to the Three-Eyed Golden Lion, its massive form trembling with barely contained rage. "Beast God, are we really letting them go?" it growled.

Di Tian's expression darkened as he growled back, "Do you think you can stop them? That old man's spiritual power has already surpassed the realm of mortals. Even in his current state, I cannot guarantee a victory against him."

His gaze shifted skyward, a deep frown etching itself onto his face. "Just who is this man? His strength is far beyond anything I've encountered. Could he be..."

Before he could finish his thought, a radiant silver light erupted from the Lake of Life. The ethereal glow condensed into the shape of a dragon, its roar reverberating across the forest before fading away.

Di Tian's expression softened as he vanished from sight, reappearing moments later at the Lake of Life. Kneeling reverently, he addressed the lake, "Master, have you awakened?"

A soft, ethereal voice emanated from the lake's depths. "I am not fully awake. The disturbance earlier stirred me from my slumber momentarily."

"Master, was that old man from the Divine Realm?" Di Tian asked, his tone cautious.

"No. He is not of the Divine Realm, but his power is extraordinary. Do not provoke him. If fate allows, he may even become an ally to our soul beast clan in the future. For now, maintain peace and avoid unnecessary conflicts."

"Yes, Master," Di Tian replied solemnly.

---

Far from the Star Dou Forest, Xiao Yan finally landed on a secluded mountaintop. The location was remote, surrounded by towering peaks that concealed it from prying eyes.

Yao Lao's spectral form emerged once more, surveying the surroundings with approval. "This will do. Begin absorbing the soul ring from the Violet Spirit Fox. Once that is done, we'll refine the flames within you and attempt to evolve the Flame Mantra."

Handing Xiao Yan two white pills, he said, "These are Icy Heart Pill and Pulse Protecting Pill. They will help stabilize your body during the refinement process."

Xiao Yan nodded earnestly. "Thank you, Teacher."

Time passed swiftly. Within hours, Xiao Yan successfully absorbed the soul ring, his body brimming with newfound power. Although fatigued, his eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Teacher, can we start refining the flames now?" he asked eagerly.

Yao Lao nodded, a hint of anticipation in his voice. "Yes. Let's see how far the Flame Mantra can evolve with the fusion of these flames. But don't get your hopes too high—it likely won't reach the Heavenly Rank yet."

And so, Xiao Yan began yet another transformative journey, one that promised to elevate his strength and push the limits of his cultivation even further.

In the depths of the secluded mountain, Xiao Yan sat cross-legged, his breathing steady as he prepared for the final stage of his breakthrough. Yao Lao stood nearby, his ghostly figure flickering faintly under the pale light of the secluded summit.

"Begin," Yao Lao said with a tinge of urgency in his voice. "You must refine all three flames within you as soon as possible. The commotion from earlier is sure to have alerted the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy's forces. They're likely scouring the forest for you even now."

He sighed, a trace of expectation crossing his face. "I'm curious to see how far Flame Mantra can evolve with the fusion of these three flames. But don't get your hopes up—it's unlikely to reach the Profound Rank yet."

Xiao Yan smiled bitterly. "We'll know soon enough." He closed his eyes, focusing inward.

The three flames in his body—purple from Ma Xiaotao, azure from Xian Lin'er, and golden from the Three-Eyed Golden Lion—began to stir within his qi cyclone. With a thought, the cyclone accelerated, spinning faster and faster until the flames were flung out and suspended before him.

Each flame seemed sentient, wavering in hesitation as though aware of the impending process. But before they could resist, Xiao Yan's qi surged outward, surrounding the flames like an impenetrable cage.

Under Xiao Yan's control, the flames were forced to flow along the meridians of the Flame Mantra. As the flames encountered resistance, they lashed out, their violent nature incinerating chunks of qi with each surge. Yet the endless supply of qi from the cyclone quickly filled the void, ensuring the flames remained trapped.

The process was far from painless. Beads of sweat poured down Xiao Yan's face as his veins throbbed with searing pain. His face flushed a deep crimson, and his body trembled under the strain. Just as the agony became unbearable, he swallowed the Pulse Protecting Pill that Yao Lao had given him.

The pill dissolved instantly, spreading a soothing energy that coated his meridians in a protective layer, shielding them from the flames' destructive nature. Following it with the Icy Heart Pill, Xiao Yan felt the unbearable pain diminish to a manageable level, allowing him to refocus.

With time and persistence, the three flames were finally subdued, fusing seamlessly into Xiao Yan's qi. As the last trace of flame merged into his cyclone, the once pale-yellow vortex transformed into a brilliant tricolor—red, azure, and gold.

Meanwhile, in the Sun Moon Empire's Mingdou Mountain Range.

Not long ago, Elder Xuan had advised Xian Lin'er and the Shrek students:

"Currently, the Sun Moon Empire's forces have sealed off the east, west, and south. Your only option is to head north. If you can cross the Mingdou Mountain Range and reach the Star Luo Empire's borders, you'll be safe."

Following his advice, the Shrek team made their way north, unaware they were walking into a carefully laid trap. The Sun Moon Empire's forces had deliberately left an opening to lure them in.

As the team entered the Mingdou Mountain Range, they were ambushed by an elite Soul Engineering Corps.

---

The attack began with a barrage of soul cannon projectiles raining down like a deadly storm. Explosions tore through the ground, leaving no space for the Shrek students to dodge.

Ma Xiaotao and Dai Yaoheng were blasted into the air, landing heavily on the ground with blood spewing from their mouths. Already injured from earlier skirmishes, the two lost all combat ability. Xian Lin'er barely managed to shield herself with her ice soul skill, but even she was knocked back, sustaining minor injuries.

Others fared far worse. Gongyang Mo's lower body was obliterated by the explosion, leaving his mangled form smoking on the ground. Chen Zifeng lost an arm and lay writhing in agony. Yao Haoxuan, with his larger frame, bore the brunt of the attack—half his body was blown away, and he succumbed almost instantly.

The inner courtyard disciples of Shrek Academy suffered varying degrees of injury. Fortunately, Xian Lin'er had managed to shield most of the outer courtyard students, sparing them from significant harm. Among them, Wang Dong was particularly lucky. Despite the chaos, not a single projectile struck him, as though an unseen force protected him from harm.

---

"We're doomed… it's an ambush! Which idiot told us to head north?" Wang Dong shouted, his voice tinged with both anger and despair as he surveyed the carnage.

The once-proud Shrek Academy team now lay scattered, bloodied, and broken. The Sun Moon Empire's forces advanced steadily, their ranks bristling with soul engineers ready to finish the job.

---

Back at the secluded mountaintop.

Xiao Yan's tricolored cyclone stabilized, marking the completion of the flames' fusion. He exhaled slowly, a faint smile gracing his face. "Teacher, it's done. Shall we begin the next phase?"

Yao Lao nodded approvingly. "Yes. The soul engineers will be scouring the forest soon, and we can't afford to linger. Begin refining the flames and evolving Flame Mantra immediately."

As Xiao Yan prepared, Yao Lao's expression turned thoughtful. "Though these flames are potent, they're still far from true Heavenly Flames. Don't expect too much. At best, the Flame Mantra might gain some minor improvements, but it won't ascend to the Profound Rank."

Xiao Yan chuckled, shaking his head. "Any improvement is good enough for now."

Closing his eyes once more, he began channeling the fused flames through the pathways of the Flame Mantra. Traces of red, azure, and gold swirled within him, promising a brighter future for his cultivation.

---

Back in the Mingdou Mountains.

The Sun Moon Empire's elite forces closed in on the remaining Shrek students, their soul cannons primed for another round of devastation. Xian Lin'er gritted her teeth, struggling to raise her icy defenses once more.

Unbeknownst to the beleaguered students, salvation—or perhaps another threat—was not far off. A shadow flickered at the edge of

the battlefield, and a figure in black silently observed the scene. His eyes gleamed with an unearthly light, as though weighing the lives of everyone present.
