Soul Land: Xiao Yan Reincarnates as Huo Yuhao

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: The Red-Clad Woman

Channeling his soul power into his Spirit Eyes, Xiao Yan faintly saw through the mist on the distant lake. He could just make out a structure resembling a house and a small red figure moving across the water.

"Teacher, what's that?" Xiao Yan asked, pointing in the direction of the red figure.

"A strong fire attribute... it appears to be a person," Yao Lao's aged voice echoed in Xiao Yan's mind.

On the lake, a red figure sped across the water's surface at an astonishing pace, seemingly rushing toward Xiao Yan's position. Her toes barely touched the water as she moved, creating ripples that spread like flames dancing across the lake.

As she drew closer, Xiao Yan could see she was a woman with blood-red hair and a slender figure, exuding a fierce, animalistic aura. A red mask obscured her face, and her surroundings seemed to distort as intense heat radiated from her.

"Soul Emperor? Maybe a Dou Spirit?" Xiao Yan murmured, his brow furrowing as he sensed the woman's strength through his spiritual perception.

Moments later, she was within a hundred meters of the shore. A terrifying surge of heat emanated from her, withering plants in a wide radius and sending a scorching wave of air toward Xiao Yan, burning his clothes to ash in an instant.

"Watch out!" Yao Lao warned, his voice urgent. A white protective barrier formed around Xiao Yan, shielding him from the intense heat and the burning air around him.

"Ah!" The red-clad woman let out a painful scream, clutching her head with a look of agony. Her voice was hoarse, broken. "Help me... please... I can't hold it back... the fire is out of control."

Xiao Yan stood stunned, watching the woman's struggle, and asked, "Teacher, what's happening to her?"

"She seems to be in a state of qi deviation," Yao Lao replied, his tone grave. "The cause appears to be the red flames surrounding her. Xiao Yan, see if you can use the ice attribute of your second martial spirit, the Bone-Chilling Flame, to help subdue it."

"Understood, Teacher," Xiao Yan responded quickly, releasing his second martial spirit, the Bone-Chilling Flame. Immediately, a surge of frigid energy radiated from him, momentarily stilling the woman's chaotic movements. She let out a sigh of relief and collapsed into his arms.

Feeling something soft bump against him as she fell, Xiao Yan's pupils shrank slightly.

The intense cold from the Bone-Chilling Flame seemed to clear the woman's mind somewhat, and she instinctively pressed closer, seeking more of the chill.

Holding Xiao Yan tightly, the red-clad woman felt waves of cold flood her body, suppressing the raging fire within her. Unbeknownst to her, the evil fire inside her began to transfer into Xiao Yan, as though something within him was drawing it in.

Moments later, a faint purple-red flame appeared beside the qi whirl in Xiao Yan's body.

Inside him, the purple-red flame seemed tamed, far less violent than before, as though something more powerful was keeping it in check—none other than the Flame Mantra.

"Please… absorb it all… absorb it all…" the red-clad woman breathed. After suffering from the evil flame for so long, she had finally found someone capable of taking it in, and she clung to him desperately, unwilling to let this chance slip by.

Even though Xiao Yan had subdued the woman's inner flame, she carefully released a steady stream of it, which he absorbed into himself. Gradually, the burning heat within her was fully suppressed, and she relaxed, falling into a deep sleep.

Yao Lao's voice chuckled in Xiao Yan's mind, "Well, well, looks like fortune smiled upon you."

"What do you mean, Teacher?" Xiao Yan asked, perplexed.

"Sink your spiritual power into your body and see for yourself."

Curious, Xiao Yan closed his eyes and let his spiritual power scan his body. When he opened his eyes again, he looked shocked. "Teacher… there's a purple flame next to my qi whirl."

"The evil fire she had has somehow found its way into me," Xiao Yan murmured, frowning. "Is this because of the Flame Mantra?"

"Precisely," Yao Lao nodded with a smile. "I suspect her evil fire is tied to her martial spirit. Likely, due to a flaw in her spirit, she could not suppress it. By practicing the Flame Mantra and through close contact, you inadvertently drew part of her fire's origin into yourself, giving you this new purple flame."

"This purple flame may not be on par with a true Heavenly Flame, but it's much stronger than ordinary qi fire. This may even provide a chance for your second martial spirit to evolve."

Looking at the purple-red flame within himself, Xiao Yan licked his lips, excitedly attempting to control it with his spiritual perception. However, as he tried to grasp it, he sensed a faint resistance from the small purple flame.

"What's going on?" Xiao Yan muttered, surprised by the flame's resistance.

Just then, a powerful surge of energy erupted from deep within Seagod Lake, prompting Yao Lao to quickly return to the ring.

"What is it, Teacher?" Xiao Yan asked, sensing the urgency.

"Someone is coming, and they're powerful! There's no time to escape—hide yourself. They must have noticed the commotion from the red-clad woman's fire." Yao Lao's voice was low, and a white barrier materialized around Xiao Yan, concealing his presence completely.
