Chapter 115—Harem King Yuki
Seralyth explained coldly, "Vola—the first true language of humans—was created by Saint King Haruno… an otherworlder. Since she is a Saint King, this true language uses the Holy Light magic rune."
She paused, glancing at the students. "You are all demons. You should understand—we lack talent in light magic."
She leaned back against the board, folding her arms. "Now, I'll give you one hour. Acquire the Holy Light magic rune."
"Light," she said, extending her palm.
A golden magic rune flashed on her palm, and a ray of golden light shot out from it.
Slime#47 stared at the rune on the white fox's palm and tried to replicate it.
"Light," he muttered.
He controlled the flow of mana within his body, channeled it to his tiny palm, and began shaping the rune just like the one on the white fox's.
A golden magic rune started to form.
As he kept pouring mana, slowly shaping it—
Just when ten percent of it was complete—
Crack!
The rune shattered into pieces.
'It's tough,' Young Slime mused, but he tried again, focusing on acquiring it quickly.
Meanwhile, other students…
"Are you serious, Instructor Seralyth?"
"It takes a lot of time for demons compared to other races to acquire the Holy Light magic rune."
"Minimum a year to acquire the light rune....even for a talented demon!"
"And average—don't even speak about it unless ten years have passed," someone chimed in.
"If you are untalented, even if you spend your whole life, you cannot acquire the Holy Light magic rune."
The students were shocked by Seralyth's decision to teach them a true language based on holy light.
Professor Brad simply glanced at the multicolored slime. Slime#47 focused on shaping the Holy Light rune.
'It seems she wants to test his talent,' Brad mused.
"Professor Seralyth, we cannot learn a Holy Light true language…" a rat demon roared in a hoarse voice, standing up.
'I'm exhausted,' he thought.
The two potions kept him healthy physically and mentally, but he still couldn't keep up.
'It's torture,' he mused, 'I'll get burned… at most.'
The white fox instructor glanced at him sharply and smiled coldly, "Let's start revising."
"What?" many students exclaimed.
They turned furiously toward the rat demon, who started sweating.
'No… no… why?' he panicked, 'She should have just dropped lava on me and healed me… I would've faked serious injuries and left… but—' His plan failed.
He glanced at the wrathful demons, 'They will definitely kick my arse,' he thought, seeing Seralyth's cunning eyes.
Hearing it was revision time, Young Slime stopped training.
The white fox glanced at Slime#47 and grinned, "You can continue. You're fluent in the languages we learned," she declared.
Then she picked a student at random and asked, "So, in Crimson Draco, how do you call—"
----
One hour later…
Crack!
The Holy Light magic rune on Slime#47's palm shattered yet again.
'The demonic force within my body is interfering,' he mused bitterly.
It was the first magic rune he had failed to acquire.
"At most, I can form twenty percent of the rune," he whispered.
"It's okay. It's normal for demons. They lack talent in Holy Light," Lily encouraged him, patting him softly—Pat!—Pat!
'As expected...like any regular demon,' Seralyth thought plainly, glancing at Slime#47.
She said sharply, "Let's change to another true language. Higasa—the second true language of humans…" Her eyes turned dark. "It was created by Hero King Yuki Higasa."
"Yuki… another otherworlder," Lily sighed, hugging Slime#47.
'Humans sure like summoning otherworlders whenever they have trouble,' Young Slime mused, remembering all the novels and anime he had read.
He noticed the white fox's expression change when she mentioned Yuki, 'Is there history between them?'
Sensing the multicolored slime's curiosity, Lily whispered, "Hero King Yuki fooled a white fox Demon King and took her into his harem."
Her expression turned cold as she continued, "Yuki brought a lot of disgrace to demons, since he took one of the Demon King as a harem member."
'Harem? What's wrong with that?' Young Slime mused. He had read many stories where MCs married multiple women—and in a world of magic, it felt common.
Noticing his doubtful look, Lily explained further, "Hero King Yuki was the first to marry multiple women at the same time—along with a Demon King."
Her eyes turned hateful, "No female Demon King has shared a man in history!"
"And the most important fact…" Lily's body glowed with green energy for a moment. "She was stronger than Yuki when she joined his harem."
She bit her white wood teeth, "He is an utter disgrace of a man… a playboy, a womanizer who calls himself the Harem King."
'Yuki… is he a protagonist?' Young Slime wondered. 'I need to watch out for him… if he's alive in my time.'
He focused back on the white fox, who was instructing, "Higasa is a language based on the water magic rune...it's a basic magic rune everyone should have."
She wrote on the blackboard. "It's a non-tonal language with 749 letters."
----
Two days later…
He had gotten faster at learning languages as his knowledge expanded. A notification flashed in his eyes.
[ Ding! Human Tongue has leveled up to Lv.Max! ]
'Finally… I can understand humans.' A wide grin spread across his face.
For the past hundred-plus loops, he had stared blankly at humans because he couldn't understand them.
Herica, Lithya, and many human languages poured into his mind.
"Our cutie is very happy," Lily said with a small grin, rubbing her face against the young slime.
Slime#47's joy expanded even more as another notification blasted in his vision.
[ Ding! Universal Tongue {Mythic+} has leveled up to Lv.2! ]
'Good. I still have more than twelve days,' he calculated, planning, 'I just need to acquire a dozen more racial languages. This skill might shoot to Lv.Max and finish the trial.'
"I'm getting very talented in languages," he whispered. "It took only two days to learn more than six languages…"
At this speed, he could gain a hundred languages—minimum—though mostly common ones.
----
[ Ding! Universal Tongue {Mythic+} has leveled up to Lv.Max! ]
'Go—' Young Slime tried to grin, but an insane number of languages flooded his mind.
He fainted.
Seralyth, who was explaining, "This language—" stopped as she noticed Slime#47's eyes close.
Lily followed the white fox's gaze and noticed the young slime's eyes shut.
"Whip Drain!" Lily cast the spell, green magic rune flashed on her palm.
Thick green veins formed from the desk, the ground, the benches, and even the ceiling.
Whoosh!
They dashed toward the lava pieces above Lily and Slime#47.
The veins bound the lava and absorbed it.
"You cannot touch him," Lily said sharply, glaring at the white fox.
