Chapter 35: Viscount Valery
"Why is it taking so long?" Katerin said as she bit her fingernail, nervously and with a hint of fear.
Artur could not refute Katerin's words to ease the situation. She too was nervous, her thoughts flying with the most pessimistic ideas.
But it was not that they were worrying in vain, in a blood frenzy vampires die and it is not an unfounded lie. Right now more than 50 students have not left, the teachers and others in charge are already removing corpses from the security rooms.
It's been a few hours and they've been waiting here for half a day.
The full moon of March has been hidden on the horizon for some time now, marking a new day. With this new day many vampires have been "Reborn" with this experience.
The corpses pass by the path where Katerin and company were. It was not the first corpse that passed by them and it would not be the last. Each corpse they saw only increased their nervousness and concern.
Artur's future
Katerin's friend
A special girl for Victor.
When they saw that one of the people in charge was coming, they felt a pressure in their chest as if it was hard to breathe, even though Katerin and Artur didn't need to breathe. But when he approached them, they passed the room and went straight to the next one.
There was not much sign of Valery, the frost that the professor had seen some time ago had melted and now there was no sign of the frost. There were no signs of Valery, the clear signs that Valery was dead and had failed in the blood frenzy.
"I'm going to open up."
"... okay" Katerin wasn't sure but she wanted to open too, she had to see with her own eyes if her friend was okay or not, even if she would be called to attention for opening this without permission, that didn't matter to her.
Artur went to the back of the room and with a mechanism of enmergecia, hidden and simple so that if the students did not leave the room it would be possible to recover the body.
By moving switches in the correct order and pressing the correct buttons, the security system was deactivated. The door began to lower, burying itself in the ground. Artur ran to Katerin's side and Victor, who was half asleep, immediately got up from the floor wiping the dirt from his pants.
With the movement of the dead, cold white mist slowly drifted outward. As more and more of the door opened, the cold white mist began to disappear, making it possible to see the bottom of the room.
Behind the fog, Valery's silhouette became visible. Valery was sitting at the table, surrounded by frost and fog, there were pieces of ice, some big and some small, all around her. Her eyes looked directly at those who opened her door.
"Valery?" Katerin looked at her strangely, it was impossible not to feel that cold. If it was unbearable before, now she couldn't resist it, she felt her body freeze because she was close to Valery. Suddenly, Katerin's body began to smoke, as if the heat in her body was going out.
Katerin took steps back at the strange visible reaction of her body.
"Why are you opening my door? It's not time yet..." Valery saw the clock, her eyes widened in surprise, it was too late. It had been many hours since she left the strange place whens she met the Moon Goddess.
Since she woke up, she felt the changes immediately. She felt that her body became much stronger, she could now withstand a more extreme cold environment and could also generate it. Before she could naturally create an environment of -30° and with effort she could create an environment of -50°.
But now it can naturally create an environment of -50° and with effort it can create an environment of -70°.
Not only that, she has gained a new magical ability. This magical ability was the one that Viscounts have.
It made her a Viscount too!
Now, she can create things of ice with her hands. For that reason there are ice shards around her, some more complex like ice sticks and other more complex things.
Valery smiled, her smile almost seeming to distort her face as her white hair covered her eyes. She felt exhilarated, for not only had she discovered her nature and her desire, but with this power she now wielded she could do so much more.
She does not have to bow down to Stelle and her father.
She can now further strengthen her territory and maybe just maybe....
"Valery?" uttered Victor, who was shivering from the cold, he hugged himself. To keep warm, his breaths created a curtain of white smoke.
Victor felt the cold more and the others more.
Although the temperature had acclimatized, as the door to Valery's room opened. Not to mention that Valery has already stopped using his cold physical ability.
At the unfamiliar voice Valery raised her eyes to meet Victor's, Valery stood up quickly, and moved quickly to stand in front of Victor.
It was a strange feeling, but he was happy to see Victor, not only that.
'He's talking, he's moving too, and of his own free will' thought Valery, looking Victor up and down, from his delicate face and his eyes that looked as good as new. More alive
"Say it again..." she whispered.
"Valery..." he said slowly and calmly with a smile on his face.
Valery reached up and stroked Victor's hair affectionately.
"Hehe" Valery couldn't help but smile a little silly at the mention of her name, even though Victor's voice sounded strange she was still happy that he pronounced her name.
He has a special touch.
"My lady, Baroness Valery Redleaves..." Artur knelt down immediately, after Valery and Victor's little interaction.
"No" Valery cut Artur's words short.
Artur quickly looked at her in horror, believing that he had done something wrong, that now he might not be worth it anymore.
"Call me Viscount" Valery said, raising her hand and immediately showing proof of her status as Viscount.
In Valery's palm, the ice born from the palm of her hand expanded and quickly began to take the shape of a spear. With a flick of her fingers, Valery twisted the spear so that the tip was facing the ground and thrust it firmly into the ground.
The ice was resistant, as long as Valery still kept feeding the spear with the cold of her physique.
"How?" the most surprised was Katerin who was staring at Valery in such a fixed way that it seemed that at any moment her eyes would pop out.
"Viscountess Valery" Artur corrected himself, he didn't ask even though he had questions, he didn't care.
Valery looked at Katerin.
Katerin immediately left and with a posture bowed to Valery. Before she finished her reverence was stopped by Valery's hands.
"You don't have to," she said warmly to her friend, "As long as you are by my side, you will always be my friend Katerin."
Valery said these words from the bottom of his heart, perhaps some of her thoughts have changed, Katerin is the only exception, she does not want her to bow down to her. She only wishes that she would not abandon her or turn her back on her.
Katerin looked at Valery, she couldn't say much, she just hugged her and whispered in her ear so that only between them they could hear each other.
"Let me forge the steel for you to build the tower."
Valery replied
"Give me steel and I'll build a tower."
