Chapter 326: Section 325 - The Male Teacher at School
A stranger Chen Fei had never seen before appeared in front of him, right there at Teacher Shen Fei's mountain school.
The man was neither a local mountaineer nor one of the Patan People.
Black hair, black eyes, yellow skin; his accent sounded like he was from the mainland.
Apart from the local students, could there be anything good about a solitary man and woman?
It's only an idiot who gets the moon first without being close to the waterside pavilion!
Are rich and beautiful girls not fragrant?
Of course, they are!
At the least, they could save you twenty years of struggle!
Seeing a hint of smugness in the other person's eyes, Chen Fei felt that Manager Mahnam had pulled the wrong alert; this wasn't Second-Level Combat Readiness, it was obviously First Level, no, it was a Special Level combat alert, okay?
Kill him?
Or still kill him?
Grab the neck, a quick snap, then toss him outside, guaranteeing not a bone would be found after half an hour.
Right, there's also the Shadow Wolf "Ah Mao" comrade; it's time to test your stomach capacity, you should be able to eat it, right?
If you can't eat it, kill and force it down anyway!!!
Raising a wolf for a hundred days comes down to this one moment; if you can't even be useful for this, what use are you!
Chen Fei's face had unwittingly grown grim, revealing a trace of ferocity.
"Chen Fei!"
Teacher Shen's voice came through, breaking the aggressive aura that was seeping out from Chen Fei.
Instantly switching from a cat's face to a dog's, Chen Fei turned with a smile towards the direction of the voice.
"Teacher Shen, are you hurt? I was just drinking, and when I heard the alert, I rushed over."
"Was it you flying the gyroplane?"
Teacher Shen Fei was carrying a Type-95 automatic rifle, running over from a distance.
There weren't many firearms in the school, just barely two rifles, one automatic and one semi-automatic, two pistols, one of which was a revolver, and roughly two thousand rounds of various ammunition; as for hand grenades, there were about a hundred or so, along with a small quantity of anti-infantry mines, those that spray in one direction causing widespread destruction. When the Mutants attacked, it was all up to these weapons to buy time.
"Who else could it be?"
Chen Fei held up the Golden-Eyed Azure-Hearted Civet's small vest and dangled it in his hand.
Er Lang was truly inhumane.
"Woof!"
Big Cat howled dispiritedly in a lifeless tone.
This is not the right flavor at all!
The stranger who suddenly appeared at the mountain school couldn't help but widen his eyes and rub them.
This is clearly a cat!
How can it bark like a dog?
"You actually flew drunk?"
Teacher Shen Fei suddenly got a bit angry.
Drunk out of your mind yet daring to pilot an aircraft, ignoring traffic safety, was downright suicidal.
"But I didn't violate traffic rules."
Finally, Chen Fei let go and Big Cat landed on all fours, looking annoyed as it sat to one side.
Drunk flying? That's nothing, Squadron Leader Chekhov wouldn't pilot a plane without drinking, downing a bottle of Erguotou to buff up till he puked; the KUMA warriors have Immortal Bodies because they've never died.
"Uh!~"
Only then did Teacher Shen Fei finally remember that the nearest traffic police were still eight hundred miles away, with no way to ticket or fine Chen Fei.
The quips were about to fly; this guy's also turned bad, must be that Big Bear Squadron Leader's influence; I heard he likes to fly only when drunk, never sober.
"No flying after drinking in the future," Teacher Shen Fei finally said, "Thank you for this time."
If there was no support, the entire school might once again have been in danger.
"No problem, just lending a hand!" Chen Fei pointed at Big Cat and said, "It's all thanks to it; I was just responsible for bringing it here."
He lacked reliable, precise AOE attacks, and to wipe out so many Mutants in such short time, he had to rely on the Golden-Eyed Azure-Hearted Civet.
"Woof!"
Big Cat was determined to play the part of a dog to the end.
"What kind of cat is this?"
This time the stranger finally confirmed with certainty that this cat was not normal.
Unable to hold back, the Golden-Eyed Azure-Hearted Civet retorted, "You're the cat, your whole family are cats!"
I'm even barking like a dog, and you still call me a cat, are you dumb?
"Ah? The cat, the cat is talking!"
The man was taken aback, his face a mixture of shock and awe.
Though the home of the Magical Beasts, Cangqiong Star, had been interacting with Blue Star for many years, talking Magical Beasts were still quite rare.
Sometimes knowing something is one thing, witnessing it firsthand and actually encountering it, well, that's an entirely different matter.
Teacher Shen Fei, with her broader experience, calmly stated, "It's a magical beast!"
How could the young Miss Shen of the Shen Family have never seen a magical beast? She had even had dealings with them.
Thinking about it, wasn't the little bird in Chen Fei's shirt pocket also a magical beast?
So adorable that it hardly seemed like a magical beast.
"Chirp!" Little Bird also greeted.
The youth, indulging in his adolescent fantasies, led a cat with his left hand, carried a chirping bird with his right, donned battle armor, and rode a tricycle through the plains. This painting-style certainly was not in the same vein as ancient times.
"That's right, a Golden-Eyed Azure-Hearted Civet at the Human Order Seventh Rank, named 'Er Lang.' Er Lang, this is Teacher Shen Fei, and the other one is…"
Chen Fei finally turned his full attention to the stranger who had suddenly appeared in the mountain school.
"I'm Jiang Shan, a new volunteer teacher here to assist Teacher Shen with her duties."
The man smiled and reached out his hand to Chen Fei again, his eyes holding a hint of... something off, as if he was mentally cursing.
"Jiang Shan, sorry, I prefer beauties to landscapes."
Chen Fei rejected the advance coldly, his attention turning back to Shen Fei instead.
A play on words, how clever!
"You dummy, learn some manners."
Shen Fei could no longer stand by; she gave Chen Fei's arm a light punch with her small fist.
She wasn't foolish and had already noticed that Chen Fei and Teacher Jiang didn't mesh well, clashing the moment they met, an unforeseen tension prior to this moment.
"I'm uncouth and know nothing about manners, Teacher Shen, I have something to discuss with you."
Chen Fei had no intention of dealing with this Teacher Jiang any further.
Considering the scarcity of university spots, and the fact that many people cannot gain admission, shouldn't someone who spends four years in the Ivory Tower and graduates with a degree feel grateful? If the Dean ever heard him calling himself uncouth, he would likely rush over to beat the daylights out of this kid.
Any regular person would feel slighted receiving such treatment. Teacher Jiang's smile became strained, his fists clenched in his pockets, though he tried to brush off the slight verbally, "It's okay, you guys talk. Don't mind me."
"Kids, hurry back to sleep. Chen Fei, come with me!"
Teacher Shen Fei wanted to have a serious conversation with Chen Fei, so she shooed the children back to their dormitories and then led Chen Fei to the wire mesh fence, their pace leisurely as they began to patrol.
Watching Shen Fei and Chen Fei's receding figures, Teacher Jiang's smile finally faltered, and he silently withdrew.
Outside the fence, the Illumination Technique Light Orb flickered and dissolved into countless points of light, and like a prisoner granted amnesty, the Shadow Wolf scrambled to its feet, turning into a shadow and sneaking within the fence's wire with great urgency, racing towards Teacher Shen's feet, leaping into her shadow on the ground, and daring not to emerge again.
That was a close call!
Chen Fei reached out, but before his hand could touch the deformed wire mesh fence, the Mesh, visibly twisted from the impact, rapidly returned to its original shape. After all, it was only physically deformed, and what could be changed one way could just as easily be reverted.
His "Metal Shaping" ability could now be extended a short distance, seemingly related to the strength of his spiritual power. A superpower level was fixed at the moment of awakening, but spiritual power could still grow.
"Are you jealous?"
Once they were out of earshot from the others, Teacher Shen Fei, who carried a 95-style automatic rifle slung across her shoulder, regarded Chen Fei with an amused, teasing gaze.
The daughter of a prominent family, her emotional intelligence was top-notch, and it was clear to her exactly what was going on with Chen Fei.
"Weren't you the only teacher here? How come there's another one now?"
Chen Fei, keeping a straight face, kicked a rock the size of an egg, and it struck the wire mesh, sending sparks flying.
"You know what?" Teacher Shen Fei held up one finger, then added two more, saying, "This school should have at least three teachers based on standard protocols."
When she had first arrived, there had indeed been another teacher, but they had left rather quickly, seemingly just waiting for a replacement, with no intention of working alongside Shen Fei.
After all, this was a remote mountain region with low salaries, surrounded by wilderness and unruly, wild local people, where firearms and ammunition were commonplace. In this place, seemingly cut off from the world, it would take nothing short of a person's passionate dedication to convince teachers to stay.
Faced with harsh reality, passion often burns out quickly - hot on the first day, warm on the second, cooled on the third, and icy by the fourth. Once that passion fades, people start thinking about leaving. The ebb and flow of teachers coming and going has been a constant, yet this small school, established by international educational organizations, has managed to survive for nearly half a century. The meager educational accomplishments it has gathered flicker like a candle in the wind, at risk of being snuffed out at any moment.
The chronic shortage of teachers meant that maintaining basic literacy was a struggle, and higher levels of education were well beyond the capabilities of the staff – such were the unfortunate realities.
"At least three teachers, huh? No wonder you've had it so hard!"
Chen Fei began to understand why there was a new teacher at the mountain school, even though he was male, they shouldn't discriminate based on gender, right?
Cooking, gardening, teaching all subjects across six grades - Teacher Shen was doing the work of at least three people. Even now, with two young assistants to help, they were still just kids who, in a few years, would have to leave to get married and start families.
It seemed that next time he encountered Teacher Jiang, he would have to be a little more polite. If he managed to kill or scare off the strong man, it would only add to Teacher Shen's burdens.
However, it would be better if there were more burly and sturdy women around – not only would Teacher Shen feel safer, Chen Fei would too.
And if the man harbored any ill intentions, well, it would be simple enough to deal with him.
In these remote, wild mountains, it's not really out of the ordinary for one or two people to disappear without a trace, right? Even without mutants, this place was dangerous.
"It's okay, I've been managing," Teacher Shen Fei said with a smile.
Her tone shifted, "But you don't have to worry about me, I'll be leaving soon."
"What? Leaving?"
Chen Fei couldn't help but widen his eyes in shock.
This was certainly worse than the arrival of a new male teacher. Explore stories on My Virtual Library Empire
