Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 196 Low-Level Demon

The knight in heavy armor stepped out of the crowd and walked briskly toward Kane and his group.

He removed his helmet and tucked it under his arm.

With one hand on his heart, he saluted Kane and his group: "Thank you for your rescue, but for the safety of the people behind me, I must ask: who are you?"

Just as he was inquiring, Longbei and his group arrived with Mili.

At this moment, a woman suddenly rushed out from the crowd behind the knight and hugged Mili tightly upon reaching her.

"Mili, you're safe! God, thank you, thank you. I thought you and your mother were taken by those monsters..."

Mili looked at the woman holding her and was full of joy: "Auntie, it turns out you're okay, that's great. Mili thought you were all gone."

Seeing Mili had family alive, Kane and his team collectively breathed a sigh of relief, feeling happy for her.

"It was them who saved me."

Hearing Mili's words, the woman repeatedly bowed to Kane and his group: "Thank you, thank you."

Kane hurriedly helped her up: "It was just a small effort."

Then Mili's aunt took her back into the crowd.

In her aunt's embrace, Mili kept waving to Kane and his team.

"It seems you're not some evil people,"

the knight said to Kane and his group.

However, despite saying this, he did not lower his guard and continued to ask Kane and his group: "But still, please tell me your identities."

According to the information obtained from the Dungeon, Kane did not think much and had long come up with a backstory. He directly said, "We heard that the holy war against the Demons here was on the brink of disaster, so we came from afar to offer support."

Hearing Kane's words, the knight nodded.

"My name is Koblo, and I am a Ranger of the Volcano Fortress. I can lead you to the Volcano Fortress, but before entering the fortress, you will certainly need to be appraised by a Priest to completely clear any suspicions."

"Of course, that's no problem. You can call me Kane, and these people behind me are my teammates."

After Kane finished speaking, he stepped aside, and the people behind him introduced themselves one by one.

Looking at Kane's teammates, Koblo exclaimed: "Just by appearance, one can feel your strength. However, it's not safe here. Follow us."

With that said, he returned to the front of the team, leading his soldiers to shield the civilians in the middle and advance northward.

Kane and his group followed at the end of the line.

Lilulu fluttered among the civilians, playing with the children to ease their fears.

The children's laughter from the group also lessened the sadness and tension among the surrounding adults and soldiers.

Not long into the journey along the road, skin-rotten wild dogs would occasionally charge at the team, only to be quickly slain by the soldiers.

Other teams continued to merge with Kane and his group, nearly all led by Koblo's teammates.

The strength of the group increased, but there were also more civilians to protect.

Some skinless, mere-flesh monsters caught their scent and moved toward their group.

Koblo and his teammates numbered ten, with two leading figures, while the other eight split into two groups, continuously patrolling on horseback nearby.

Even without Kane and his crew acting, they could easily eliminate the monsters.

With the help of the soldiers around, the oncoming monsters were swiftly and effectively dealt with, evidently accustomed to battling such creatures, having developed a flawless coordination.

However, such a large convoy was bound to face trouble along the way.

"Whoa, look what I've found? A huge flock of lambs to slaughter."

A tall figure, about two meters in height, with dark red skin and a pair of large, curved horns like a ram appeared before Kane and his group, wielding a giant battle axe.

Behind him followed a group of peculiar monsters, like a band of lowly soldiers.

Upon seeing this monster, the nearby Ranger Corps members shouted: "It's a War Demon, prepare for battle."

Several other members quickly gathered, forming up, fixating their gazes on the Demon ahead.

From their rapid breathing and the slight tremor in their weapon-wielding hands, it seemed they were not at all confident in defeating this monster.

Finally encountering the dungeon's main monster, Longbei rose to the occasion, transforming into a five-meter tall gray Giant and leapt in front of the Demon.

"Hoho, red-skinned dwarf, who are you calling lambs to slaughter? Are you introducing yourself?"

At Longbei's sudden enlargement, apart from Kane and his team, all the surrounding soldiers and civilians widened their eyes in disbelief.

Unworldly as they were, they had never witnessed such a sight.

Even the ten Ranger Corps members, though initially shocked, appeared much calmer and more reassured.

At Longbei's taunt, the Demon, already of chaotic disposition, was thoroughly goaded, charging angrily with his giant axe raised towards Longbei.

He struck fiercely on Longbei's Shield, yet against the enlarged Shield accompanying Longbei's size, his attack seemed utterly feeble and powerless.

Longbei effortlessly deflected his axe, swinging down the massive Holy Light Giant Hammer in his right hand.

Similarly enlarged to two meters, the Giant Hammer crashed onto the Demon, the penetrating blow erupting within the Demon's body.

The explosion brought the Demon down, unable to rise, his wounded body spurting blood like magma.

Yet, despite the blow, he did not die instantly, struggling to push himself off the ground, intending to fight again.

Just as he screeched and was about to rise, another hammer swung down upon his head.

The black, ram-like curled horns were shattered by the blow, and of course, not just the horns, but also his hideous head.

The Rangers beside did not stand idle, organizing the soldiers to charge at the Demon's band behind him, while Kane and his team occasionally provided simple ranged support.

The demon horde was crushed like dead wood, at the cost of a few soldiers' minor injuries.

Longbei returned to his normal size, crouched down, and began searching in the ashes left by the Demon's death.

After digging for a while, he unearthed a piece of Magic Equipment.

Kane and his group, after the death of the band, began searching within the ashes.

Out of nearly thirty oddly shaped monsters, only three Magic Items were finally retrieved.

They seemed to be merely materials.
