Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon

Chapter 896: 893: Those Eyes

"Those damned Conquerors. Those damned Supremes. I curse them."

'Conquerors? Supremes?'

Corey's eyes narrowed when he heard these words from Death.

He could clearly remember the Paragon Ancestor referring to the Supremes as Conquerors, and it was a little bit surprising hearing Death curse out the Supremes.

'I wonder what the Supremes did to Death for him to curse out at them with so much anger. Could a Supreme or more than one Supreme be responsible for his current condition?'

'Why have I encountered traces of Supremes in the two locations that's related to the Old Ones? What's their end goal?'

Corey's eyes flashed with a calculating light, and then he saw Death look at the cup of coffee he had given Archmage Kael.

The cup was on the floor, and at arm's length from Death.

Death stared at for a second, and then a cold light flashed in his eyes.

"Shatter."

The moment Death said this word while looking in the direction of the cup, it shattered instantly, and Corey's eyes widened slightly.

'I didn't sense anything. There was no aura, mana, or energy that was emitted from him... He spoke and it shattered?'

Corey furrowed his brows, and his mind recalled everything that happened the moment Death ordered the cup to shatter.

It didn't take long for him to notice something odd.

'There was an extremely subtle vibration in the air before Death spoke. Do I have to watch out for that?'

Corey looked down, and his gaze suddenly landed on his cup which had fallen and was somehow still in one piece.

Without hesitation, he manipulated the wind runes to lift the cup to him.

"So it works even in this body?"

Death responded as Corey held his cup with a gentle look in his eyes. He stored the cup in his Tri-Pupil Eyes, and then he shifted his gaze back to Death.

'I can't believe I was almost careless with my father's wish. I would never have forgiven myself if something happened to it.'

"Break."

Death suddenly spoke to the air in front of him, and Corey's eyes widened slightly when he saw the space behind him and above him shatter into pieces.

The unique space they were in shattered into pieces, and Corey found himself back in the Dying City.

He looked all around him, and the familiar shattered and destroyed buildings of the Dying City along with the rubbles and dimly lit city was reflected in his eyes.

'Hmm. This is a good thing I guess.'

Corey thought, and then he shifted his gaze back to Death.

"Hmm. I was able to shatter the damned prison they kept my vessel in. However..."

Death frowned, and then he looked at the wooden bindings on his outstretched arm.

Sigh

He shook his head, and then he looked at Corey.

"And I've discovered another oddity about you," Death tilted his head. "How can you ignore my words?"

Corey tilted his head with furrowed brows, and then he snapped his fingers.

"I know why."

"Speak."Death ordered.

Corey smiled. "It's probably because you're using my damned voice. Change your voice. Maybe your powers will work on me then."

Death stared at Corey in the eye for five whole seconds, and then he smiled.

The ground of the entire Dying City suddenly quaked to the point that even Corey lost his footing for a moment.

Corey instantly noticed the source of the quaking, and to his slight surprise, it was the throne of Death.

It rose into the sky, and then it hovered behind Death.

Death sighed, and Corey blinked.

A second later, his eyes widened in disbelief because Death was now sitting on his throne.

One moment, he was bound upside down in the air, and in the next moment, he was sitting on his throne.

'Why did I blink at that exact moment? Ever since I appeared in front of the Archmage, I've never blinked.'

'But the moment I blinked, this happened?'

A deep frown could be seen on Corey's face as he stared at Death who was sitting on his floating throne in the sky with an emotionless and completely indifferent expression.

"I thought you were always going to be in that position. I never knew you could change your position."

The corner of Death's lips curled up slightly in amusement. "I'll kill you and all your secrets would be revealed to me."

Corey tilted his head slightly. "So why haven't you done so since?"

"Because one has to first study a living specimen before studying its corpse."

Corey raised a brow. "So you've been studying me... So what have you observed... Death?"

Death chuckled with a dangerous smile. "Arise."

The ground quaked intensely, and Corey had to take several steps because the ground did not only tremble, it shattered.

Through his Eyes of Omniscience which encompassed a ten kilometer radius of the Dying City, he could see that the ground was quaking in every single place.

'So it's begun.'

Despite the intensity of the earthquake, his expression was calm and focused. Only the light of calculation and coldness could be seen in his eyes.

Bang!

He was about to take a step to the side, but his instincts warned him before his Eyes of Omniscience noticed anything.

A skeleton hand shot up from the ground, and Corey's expression changed when he saw that countless hands shot up from the ground.

This did not only happen around him.

No.

As far as his Eyes of Omniscience could see, every part of the Dying City had corpses and the dead rising from the ground.

They became the walking dead.

Their auras varied, but Corey could sense some auras that sent chills into the depths of his heart.

They were Tier 6s, but they also possessed an aura that made Corey to guess that they were a step away from Tier 7.

'Ah. Shit.'

Corey's lips twitched, and then his gaze landed on the crown of black bones.

Because of the quaking of the ground, it had been moving, and he made sure that he was not far away from the crown no matter what.

But now?

A Tier 6 walking dead was attempting to reach for the crown. His fingers were mere inches from touching the crown, and he had a feeling that such a thing must not happen no matter what.

Without hesitation, his Eyes of Omniscience switched to his Tri-Pupil Eyes.

The golden triangular pupils rotated and glowed, and then he switched places with the Tier 6 walking dead.

The walking dead around him attempted to attack him, but he swung his hand and sent out wind slashes that were infused with his Phantom Plague Axe Heart Intent.

All the walking dead that was in a hundred meter radius around him was split in two, even the strongests which were Tier 5s were not spared of this.

"Those eyes."
