Chapter 159: Chapter 100.2: Prelude to War, the Deal Between Chu Yang and Odin!
Theoretically, anyone can train to develop it, but it's also a power bound by the laws of its world, akin to spiritual energy or magic.
Hearing Chu Yang's definitive response, Sonic turned pale, his face filled with despair. "No chance at all?"
Chu Yang shook his head firmly. "None."
Sonic looked as though he'd been struck by lightning, his body swaying as the light in his eyes faded into emptiness.
"Now that you understand, let's leave it at this. Stop coming to see me." As Chu Yang departed, he shot Foster a fierce glare, prompting the man to bow repeatedly and apologize.
Sonic stood frozen, staring at Chu Yang's receding figure from morning till night.
Many years ago, back when he was in the ninja village, everyone around him—whether instructors or fellow trainees—constantly repeated one thing to him:
"You're talentless, that's why you're always at the bottom!"
Surviving the graduation ceremony by sheer luck didn't mean Sonic had turned a new leaf, nor did it erase those words from his heart.
On the contrary, he still carried those words with him.
"Master, I've never believed in so-called talent or aptitude…"
The next day.
The doorbell at Chu Yang's house rang as usual.
He opened the door.
"Master!"
Standing outside was still Sonic, carrying large plastic bags filled with groceries.
With a solemn expression, Sonic declared, "I've thought it through carefully. Simply helping you get rid of a few monsters isn't enough to show my sincerity. From today onwards, I will serve you in every possible way until you're satisfied!"
Bang!
Chu Yang forcefully shut the door in his face.
This guy's brain definitely had a hole in it!
"I already told you, you'll never learn…" Chu Yang muttered, rubbing his temples as he turned back to his room.
But Sonic kept banging on the door, shouting, "Master, don't worry. I will work hard!"
Big brother! This isn't about effort! You'd need to break the dimensional barrier for this!
With a helpless sigh, Chu Yang trudged back to the door, opened it, and said impatiently, "Stop yelling. I'll give you one chance. If it doesn't work out, scram!"
Sonic beamed with joy, nodding repeatedly. "Master, don't worry. I won't let you down."
Chu Yang asked irritably, "Why are you so insistent on becoming my disciple? Do you really like being a ninja that much?"
"Wanting to be a ninja is one thing, but learning ninjutsu from you is another…" Sonic suddenly became bashful, swaying awkwardly with a flushed face. "Because it's… cool."
Chu Yang: "???"
Sonic imitated Chu Yang, forming seals. "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
"That one!"
"Don't you think it's cool?"
Chu Yang: "…"
He suddenly felt a tinge of regret. Damn it.
Snatching the grocery bags from Sonic's hands, Chu Yang slammed the door shut again.
"Master!"
---
Marvel Universe.
Officially, Chu Yang was one of Thor's advisors, but he spent most of his time buried in Asgard's magical library, greedily absorbing knowledge about magic.
He didn't have much to contribute to Thor. With Odin still alive, there were very few forces in the Seven Realms—or even the universe—that dared to challenge Asgard head-on. Asgard was a picture of peace, at least for now.
Small-scale regional conflicts? Thor could solve those with brute force. No need for elaborate plans.
Even when Chu Yang offered the occasional suggestion, Thor would promptly forget it.
In the Avengers, Thor's intelligence was barely on par with the Hulk's.
Over time, Chu Yang became as inconspicuous as air.
He enjoyed this state. As long as he didn't cross the line, no one would restrain him—it was complete freedom.
After several months in the celestial palace, Thor hurriedly approached Chu Yang one day.
"You look like a schoolboy whose breakfast got stolen," Chu Yang teased.
Normally, Thor would counter with an equally lame joke, but this time, his expression was unusually serious. Chu Yang instinctively sensed something big was happening.
"Father said Loki has gone to Earth and obtained the Cosmic Cube that he sealed there years ago!" Thor exclaimed.
"I must go to Earth and bring back Loki and the Cube!"
Chu Yang closed his magical tome, smiling faintly. "So, my study abroad is over?"
"Yes, my friend."
The Bifrost was still damaged, so returning to Earth required Odin's power. Odin could send Thor to Earth, but the effort would exhaust him, leaving him weakened for a time.
Odin wouldn't take such a risk unless the situation was urgent.
Asgard's peace rested entirely on his personal deterrence. Any sign of vulnerability, and the last disaster would immediately reoccur. The Frost Giants weren't the only ones eyeing Asgard.
Odin knew better than anyone what the Cosmic Cube was capable of. In the wrong hands, it could threaten not just the Nine Realms but the entire universe.
That was why Odin chose to send Thor to Earth—and Chu Yang as a side note.
Thor led Chu Yang to the royal hall, where Odin sat majestically on the throne. Rising slowly upon their arrival, he exchanged a few pleasantries with Chu Yang before giving Thor a stern directive to retrieve the Cosmic Cube.
Frigga, Thor's mother and the queen, assisted Odin with the teleportation magic. As Asgard's most powerful mage, Frigga was the main architect of the spell, while Odin provided the energy.
During his time in Asgard, Chu Yang had interacted with Frigga more than Thor. She was the steward of Asgard's magical library and admired Chu Yang's talent for magic, which she believed surpassed that of most gods.
What impressed her even more than his talent was his insatiable thirst for knowledge.
After Odin finished speaking to Thor, Frigga approached her son, gently reminding him to stay safe. She wasn't doubting his abilities, just wary of his recklessness.
Then, she turned to Chu Yang, her expression softening. "Child, please take care of Thor for me."
Chu Yang smiled and nodded. "Don't worry, Queen."
Frigga sighed lightly, reluctant to part. "I wish you could stay a little longer. Besides Loki, you're the only one I can discuss magic with in all of Asgard."
Her expression turned sorrowful at the mention of Loki.
"Enough, Frigga," Odin interrupted. "No more idle chatter—they must leave."
Odin began casting the spell, colorful lights rising beneath Thor and Chu Yang. Chu Yang observed Odin intently, trying to memorize the details of his casting.
Odin's face showed a hint of fatigue, his brow furrowing slightly. For some reason, the spell was more draining than he had anticipated.
After a burst of radiant light, Thor and Chu Yang remained in place.
The two exchanged confused glances.
Odin murmured in surprise and turned to Frigga, who was equally astonished.
The couple examined Chu Yang closely.
"Child, there's a power within you on par with Thor's. It's increasing the spell's consumption," Odin explained with an awkward smile.
"Does that mean we can't go to Earth?" Thor asked anxiously.
Frigga shook her head. "You can go, but he cannot. Your father and I can't transport both of you in such a short time."
Thor scratched his head, looking sheepishly at Chu Yang. He had excitedly brought him along, only for the effort to be in vain.
Chu Yang didn't seem to mind, lost in thought instead.
Odin cleared his throat. "Prepare to leave."
"Wait a moment," Chu Yang said. He quickly fashioned a kunai inscribed with the Flying Thunder God technique and handed it to Thor.
The three gods watched curiously. Frigga asked, "What is this?"
Chu Yang smiled. "It's a marker. If it works, I can use it to teleport to Earth."
Theoretically, the Flying Thunder God technique had no range limit; it could teleport across dimensions. Chu Yang had proven this in the Naruto world.
However, given the vast distance between Asgard and Earth, he wasn't sure if it would still work. He could only try.
Odin and Frigga were intrigued.
Thor, clueless as ever, noticed his parents' expressions and instinctively felt the "little dagger" was extraordinary.
"You've created a new magic?" Odin asked.
"No, it's the wisdom of those before me," Chu Yang replied.
Frigga couldn't recall any similar spells in the library, but she admired Chu Yang's modesty.
"You're a clever child, and I trust your abilities. But are you sure it's safe—for you, I mean?" Frigga asked with concern.
Chu Yang reassured her. "Queen, rest assured. Even if it fails, it won't harm Thor or me."
Frigga relaxed, nodding at Odin, who resumed the spell. He reminded Thor, "Bring Loki and the Cube back."
A flash of white light, and Thor vanished from the hall.
Chu Yang closed his eyes, sensing the marker. Soon, he exhaled in relief, a smile spreading across his face.
The marker's presence was faint but still usable as an anchor for the Flying Thunder God.
Frigga saw his smile and knew his spell had succeeded. She smiled warmly. "Congratulations, child. You can go home now. Don't forget to send my regards to your family."
Images of Tony, Happy, and Pepper flashed in Chu Yang's mind. He grinned. "I will, Queen."
"You could leave a marker here," Odin suddenly suggested.
Chu Yang looked at him in surprise.
Odin explained, "Thor and Frigga both like you. I hope you'll visit occasionally."
Chu Yang only half-believed Odin's reasoning, suspecting the All-Father had ulterior motives.
Frigga quickly caught on and glared at her husband. "Child, ignore him."
"No, Queen. The All-Father is right. If I have time, I'd like to visit you all," Chu Yang said, agreeing to Odin's suggestion.
