Chapter 318: Never Eat at Food Stalls!
Early the next morning, Song Yun started to get busy. Even though he was supposed to take Ouyang Jie to investigate the fishing village's issue with overcharging tourists, it didn't stop him from taking a tour around the place.
He had visited that fishing village back in his university days. The entire class had gone there for a group activity, and as a local, he had even acted as a guide. In the end, they got discounts on both accommodation and food, and when they were leaving, he was given a small turtle as a pet.
Thinking about it now, that fishing village didn't seem as shady as what Ouyang Shu's elder had described.
"Xiao Jie, when we get there, I won't talk. You lead the whole way," he said.
Ouyang Jie's speech was full of the flavor of the Forty-nine City, immediately recognizable upon hearing it.
After packing up, the group set out in cars with out-of-town plates.
The three vehicles sped down the roads, and after nearly two hours of driving, they finally arrived.
Looking at the vast ocean, Song Yun's mood unexpectedly lifted.
"That over there is the fishing village Ouyang Shu's elder was talking about. We'll be staying here these few days."
To call this place a fishing village was an understatement. It was more like a downsized town because of its extremely favorable geographical location. It had everything you could need—small, but complete in every detail.
The group parked their cars at a hotel parking lot, with Ouyang Jie leading the way inside.
What they didn't know was that their arrival, a group of more than ten people, had already been noted by watchful eyes and reported up the chain, waiting for the big fish to be caught.
"Hello, we'd like to book eight rooms," Ouyang Jie said coolly at the front desk.
The front desk staff glanced up slightly, and when her eyes swept over to Song Yun, they lit up. This guy was incredibly handsome, even better-looking than the celebrities she followed!
"Thud thud thud!"
Ouyang Jie, dissatisfied, tapped the front desk and said, "Eight rooms!"

"Oh, right away. How many days will you be staying?"
"Two days."
"One room per night is 460, eight rooms for two nights totals 7360, plus a deposit of 200 for each room, that comes to 8960. Will you be paying by scan or cash?"
For a tourist resort, this hotel was considered to have the best environment, and 460 a night was not too much of a rip-off.
Ouyang Jie paid promptly and distributed the eight room cards to everyone.
"Um... Sir, could you please wait a moment?"
The front desk staff glanced around and, seeing no one was watching, trotted over to Song Yun.
Everyone thought the girl was going to ask Song Yun for his contact information, but instead she whispered urgently, "Whatever you do, don't go eat at the food stalls, please don't!"
"Why?"
Song Yun asked curiously.
Just as the girl was about to say something, a cough came from not far away, "Xiaojuan, what are you doing? Don't you have work?!"
"Boss, I was just telling the guests about our local cuisine, right?"
She looked at Song Yun with pleading eyes.
Song Yun nodded and smiled, "That's right, the young lady was saying the food stalls here are quite good, and we should try them out when we have the chance."
The boss broke into a delighted smile upon hearing this, approached Song Yun, grabbed his hand, and shook it vigorously, "Sir, you've asked the right person about local food. I'm a villager from here. Are you folks from the Magic Capital, or are you here for tourism?"
"Tourism!"
Ouyang Jie spoke up.
His Beijing dialect immediately convinced the boss; such a dialect couldn't come without spending over a decade living in Forty-nine City.
With that thought, the boss felt reassured.
"You all traveling here really must try our local cuisine, and don't go to those other places, ah! They're all rip-offs, charging a hundred or two hundred for a single steamed fish. We rely on the sea for our food here; seafood can't be that expensive!"
The boss said with a grin and then took out a stack of business cards from his pocket and started handing them out: "I'm not bragging, but this food stall is the most famous around. Lots of people drive over from the city just to have a meal here. Mention my name, Old Hu, and you'll get a 20% discount!"
Listening to the boss's sincere words, Song Yun and the others also harbored some doubts. Was it really so?
The group thanked the boss and, as mealtime was approaching, Song Yun decided to see if the street stalls' prices were really as steep as mentioned.
They casually picked a seafood restaurant that looked decent and after taking a look at the menu, Song Yun slightly furrowed his brows.
The prices weren't cheap, but they were acceptable, considering this was a tourist hotspot plus peak travel season, expecting a mark-up of 10-20% compared to city prices seemed tolerable.
They casually ordered some seafood and by the time it was served, everyone was ravenous, not caring about who was older or younger, each one grabbed and started eating.
"The taste is not bad."
Song Bu spoke out, holding a piece of crab leg: "If it's just this price, then I think the old man's words were greatly exaggerated."
"Probably all the tricks are at the food stalls, the girl this morning had warned us."
Song Yun scooped up a bit of crab roe and fed it to Ye Qingqing, then peeled a shrimp and put it in Yuan Siyi's bowl.
The group had quite a feast with the seafood and when it came to paying the bill, Song Yun looked stunned at the price of over six thousand, but then again, seafood isn't exactly filling, and it's easy to over-order without realizing it.
After a satisfying meal, they returned to the hotel to rest up, planning to head to the beach in the afternoon.
Inside the hotel, Ye Qingqing had specifically chosen to room with Wen Shu, which meant Song Yun would be sharing a room with Yuan Siyi.
When Ouyang Jie saw this arrangement, his eyes nearly popped out of his head.
F**k!!!
Big bro, how did you manage that???
I haven't even managed to win over your sister, and you're already cozying up on both sides???
And what's more important is, your sister agreed???
In that moment, Ouyang Jie felt like the whole world was against him, even the simple-minded brute, Bao Ding, had Yang Yingying for company, while he was still a single dog!
So frustrating!!!
In the afternoon around three or four, when the weather started to cool down, everyone headed to the beach with their swimsuits.
It was not uncommon to see people playing here in the afternoon; many parents were taking the opportunity before their children's school started to travel and broaden their kids' horizons.
When Song Yun came out of the specially made changing room, he immediately drew the avid gazes of numerous women.
Song Yun's physique was extremely well-proportioned, not bulging with muscles like Ouyang Jie that might scare people, nor was he tall and thin like a beanpole.
Add to that the distinct six-pack on his abdomen, he made some women leave drooling with excitement.
That afternoon, Song Yun had to refuse the contact details of no fewer than fifty girls who approached him; in the end, he simply had Bao Ding stand next to him. Bao Ding's body was full of scars, clearly not someone easy to mess with, and this finally stopped the swarming advances of the many admirers.
As night fell, Song Yun and his friends changed into their airy shorts and tank tops and found the food stall the hotel owner had mentioned and sat down.
Song Yun actually wanted to see what kind of dragon's den or tiger's lair this place was, to have even made noise all the way to Forty-nine City!
