Chapter 67: Blood Raven
Kai, Mei, and Lily stood inside a vast, black factory. They stared at the stinkbug — the Bug with the Lantern — which was trapped inside a transparent container four meters above the ground.
Kai and Mei were smiling, while Lily trembled slightly in the background.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Mei asked with a wicked smirk, her hands pressing lightly on the swell of her hips, making the soft curves even more pronounced.
The pale pink fabric clung impossibly tight, outlining the gentle rise of her stomach and the hollow of her navel, which seemed to beg for a fingertip's trace.
The underwear framed her lower curves, revealing the seductive slope of her hips and the teasing peek of her inner thighs.
Kai stood right next to her, gazing at the same thing. "A masterpiece of our minds…" he said, his tone slightly arrogant.
Lily, however, felt nothing like they did. In fact, she felt the exact opposite.
"Y-you're stealing its babies… a-and feeding the people with them…?" Lily asked, half frightened, half disgusted, making a strange expression.
Her hands pressed tightly against her body, trying to cover herself even as the snug maid uniform clung to every curve. The thin fabric outlined the swell of her chest and the gentle dip of her waist.
"It seems the more you feed it, the more eggs it lays…" Kai said without turning his head. His eyes were fixed on the bug hanging in the air.
"Problem of hunger — solved," Mei said, rubbing her hands together as if to wipe them clean, a satisfied smile on her face.
Lily's eyes scanned its sorrowful face. The stinkbug had no choice but to eat, lay eggs, and then watch as those eggs were taken away and dropped into a massive cauldron to be cooked.
Tears welled in its eyes, falling onto the transparent floor of its container with a steady rhythm.
It could do nothing but watch its offspring die before they even hatched. Its suffering only deepened when it saw the satisfied grins on Kai's and Mei's faces.
Kai leaned closer, his shadow falling over the trembling insect. "Do you hear them?" he whispered, voice calm, almost tender. "The tiny screams no one else can."
Mei tilted her head, her eyes gleaming with a cruel delight. "They're beautiful, aren't they? A chorus of lives snuffed out before they even begin."
The bug's legs scratched desperately at the glass, leaving faint streaks that would never break free.
Kai chuckled softly. "You should be grateful. Your children have meaning now. They suffer so we can smile."
Mei's grin widened into something monstrous, her teeth catching the dim light. "Watch, little one. Watch until the very last spark of hope in you goes dark."
"B-but, the… poor… bug…" Lily stammered, trembling slightly.
"It's just a Calamity… who cares?" Kai said, waving dismissively. What he meant was that he couldn't care less about how the bug felt — after all, it was only a Calamity.
"But—" Lily tried to speak, but Mei cut her off.
"The problem is solved… that's the only thing that matters," she said coldly, locking eyes with Lily.
"That reminds me…" Kai finally tore his gaze from the bug. He looked at Lily before continuing. "Tell the people, through the broadcast… or however you do it, that we'll be distributing free food all next week. Tell them each person will receive a month's supply."
"A month…?" Lily asked, confused.
"If we feed it enough…" Mei murmured, placing her hand on her chin, the other arm resting lightly at her side.
Her shoulders were slightly hunched forward, making her collarbones more visible, while her chest pressed subtly against the pale pink fabric.
Her waist curved softly into her hips, which tilted just enough to catch the light on the gentle slope of her lower stomach. The thin underwear framed the hollow of her navel and the top of her thighs, leaving the rest suggested beneath the soft contours of her body.
"Um…" Lily started, still looking at them with visible concern.
"You'll listen to us, won't you?" Kai asked, his tone colder now as he stepped closer. "You won't betray us, right?"
Lily swallowed hard, recalling the promise she had once made to Vorenhart. "I swear to obey your every command and the command of every president after you!"
With that vow, she had bound herself to obey all representatives of the Empire for as long as she lived. In other words, she wasn't allowed to say "no" to Kai and Mei.
Lily nodded, then straightened into a soldier's stance, her chest bouncing softly as she lifted her back. "Understood," she tried to declare, though her voice wasn't as loud as she wished.
"Good," Kai said before heading toward the factory exit. "Let's go," he added at last, moving toward the carriage.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, Dravarn, things didn't look so good. Two Calamities had appeared on their territories, creating chaos among the lower-ranked Demons.
In a small house in a populated part of Dravarn, there was a boy. He looked like a human, except his body was a pale shade of blue, and from the left side of his head protruded a horn that curved slightly upward.
This demonic boy belonged to the lower rank of Demons, which could be identified by the fact that he had only one horn. There are three ranks of Demons: the lower — Bloodlings.
They live in small villages. Male Demons attend school so that, when they grow enough, they can become soldiers, while female Demons are used as "cows for children" — existing only to be milked. They give birth until their death.
Higher Demons are called Bloodbound. They are commanders and elite soldiers but may choose to become armorers and weapon makers, and when they grow old, they are allowed to have families and live peacefully.
Visually, they differ from Bloodlings only by having two horns instead of one.
The highest Demons are called Archidemons. They stand at the top of the hierarchy and control the people and the army. They may do whatever they want. They have three horns on their heads.
The only demons not required to follow this hierarchy are the aristocratic Demons called the Bearers of the Chaos Flame. Though there are only three of them, they hold ultimate power and the final word.
The little demonic boy was playing in the street, running through the alleys laughing, when suddenly he tripped and fell to the ground.
Blue blood began to trickle from his knee. "Ah!" he shouted a little louder than he intended, clutching his knee.
The blood started dripping onto the ground as he tried to stop it. Suddenly, his eyes locked onto the puddle of blood that had formed.
From that puddle, something began to emerge. Something bird-shaped. After a few moments, a raven appeared and stared at the boy. Its body was completely transparent, and its internal organs were visible.
Its stomach contracted and expanded. Inside, a mass of partially digested fluid swirled continuously, while acid slid down the inner walls, and waves of spasms rippled through.
The intestines twisted constantly, gently pulsating and moving in waves as dark clumps of contents slowly and grotesquely moved through them.
The lungs worked irregularly, expanding like two wet, sticky sacs. Their surface, covered with tiny bubbles, stuck and stretched against the ribs, producing a moist sound with each breath.
Occasionally, the bubbles would burst, leaving thin trails of foam inside the transparent body.
The heart thudded violently, as if it would pierce the sternum. With every beat, blood surged through thin veins and arteries, air bubbles trapped inside creating uneven flow — blood jerked, paused, then flowed again. Some smaller capillaries burst, leaving faint red marks in the transparent tissue.
The brain hemispheres shifted slightly, pulsing in rhythm with the heart. Nerves twitched, occasionally tightening muscles in the wings or legs, sending uncontrolled spasms through the body.
The brain was coated in a thin layer of slime that oozed down the skull and dripped into the eye sockets.
The eyes were wet and glassy, yet one could clearly see the optic nerves periodically contracting and relaxing.
The tongue inside the beak moved constantly, bending and sticky-slapping side to side, while the nostrils vibrated lightly, inhaling and exhaling thin jets of air.
Bones creaked with every slight movement, and tendons twitched, pulling muscles like wet wires.
The boy looked at it in astonishment. "Who are you?" he asked, but the raven didn't answer, tilting its head to the side instead.
Suddenly, a strong shock coursed through the boy's body. He clutched his head. "Ah!" he screamed, squeezing his own skull. For a few moments, he stood like that, struggling with the pain in his head.
Then, as if all the pain had suddenly vanished, he stood up and turned, whispering to himself: "I must… kill!" and began walking in the opposite direction of the raven.
The transparent bird tilted its head to the other side, then pushed off the ground and flew away.
