Siblings with No Life Get Summoned to Another World as Detectives

Chapter 33: Declaration of War

Kai slowly pulled his hand away from her face, and Silfy slid quietly to the floor. Breathless. Motionless. Dead.

The wind whispered through the trees, and leaves rustled softly around him. Birds were silent.

Without the slightest trace of guilt, he seized the moment. Every move was calculated, every word and sound – carefully crafted.

"Oh, Silfy… harder… harder!" he shouted, shaking the tree, producing creaks and snapping branches. The sounds were convincing, almost brutal in their realism.

Mei fell to her knees, listening in silence, her imagination filling in the gaps with details her heart refused to accept. Every sound, every tremor of the tree, every groan from Kai – created a scene that would be forever burned into her memory.

"Kai…" she whispered through tears, her voice breaking, her body trembling with helplessness and pain. The world around her was frozen in that moment, cut off from reality, and she knew no comfort could reach her.

"I'll break you…" the thought crossed Kai's mind, his face twisting into a grotesque grimace. He began to moan, his voice fluctuating, even briefly mimicking a woman's tone to make the act more convincing, fully aware that Mei was listening.

"Kai… No! Stop! Please, stop!" Mei screamed, pounding her fists against the wall of the pit, desperately trying to silence the sounds she heard.

"I'm close…" Kai muttered, savoring each of her desperate gasps and helpless cries. Though it was only a performance, it sounded real.

With a final roar, he ended his twisted audio show – silence crashed down like a heavy stone.

"Kai…" Mei breathed out softly, her voice breaking. "Why…?" Tears streamed down her face, cold and salty, soaking into the earth beneath her like the first rain.

"Traitor…!" she cried, pounding her fists into the ground. "TRAITOR! TRAITOR! TRAITOR!" Her teeth clenched, every scream heavy with pain and betrayal, her powerless rage echoing in the silence.

Kai laughed, but his smile was neither warm nor human. It was vast, DEMONIC, cold and terrifying – as if the Devil himself delighted in his soul. "I hate you, sis…" echoed in his mind, each word dripping with venom.

"You… you always had everything. All the attention, every compliment, every ounce of admiration. You were always better than me… and that's exactly why I hated you. I hated you for being what I could never be.

I was too weak… too weak to protect you, too weak to stand in front of your troubles when it mattered. And yet, you… you kept saving me, again and again, while I was helpless, while I was weak. I hate it. I hate that you were always above me, always showing me how small and powerless I truly was!"

In a quiet, almost sinister whisper, but laced with venom, he added: "That's why I hate you. I hate you from the very depths of my soul… I HATE YOU!"

His smile stretched as he felt that hatred consuming him, black, searing, relentless. There was no remorse, only pure, merciless wrath.

Kai's thoughts tore at him from the inside, his grin trembling, twisting into a false sob at times. He quickly hid it and approached the pit where Mei sat, her tears dripping down her cheeks.

"Sis…" he called softly, reaching out his hand, but she didn't look up.

"Go… go back to your Silfy…" she whispered, her voice breaking under the weight of pain.

"I can't…" Kai said, his tone gentle, almost soothing, though a storm raged in his mind. "I killed her…"

The voices inside him were wild and cruel: "I love seeing you like this… so helpless!"

Mei slowly lifted her eyes, looking at him through a haze of doubt and pain. "Really…?" she asked, her body turning slightly toward him.

"Yes… only because of you… she wanted to kill you…" Kai said, his voice soft and calm, but every word carefully measured, a tool of manipulation. The truth bent to serve his play.

Mei pressed her lips together for a moment, then gave a faint smile. "Thank you…" she whispered, lowering her gaze. "And… what was that you were doing?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"I have my needs too… I'm human…" Kai said, his smile faint, almost charming, yet cold. He quietly added: "Mind reading."

In Mei's mind, only one thought echoed: "I love you…"

"Reading emotions," Kai murmured, then saw the word GRATEFUL appear above Mei's head.

"I've got you in my hand…" passed through his mind, cold and resolute.

"Come on…" said Kai, reaching out his hand toward his sister. His voice was quiet but firm, wanting to show her she could rely on him.

Mei paused for a moment, studying the outstretched hand. Her eyes, red and full of tears, still shone with a glimmer of assurance. She grabbed it, her fingers tightening around his, and with his help, managed to pull herself to the surface.

When they finally stood side by side, Mei quietly muttered, "Let's go home…" The sound was soft, vulnerable, almost like a whispered prayer.

Kai looked up, uncertainty shadowing his face. "Um…" he began, hesitating for a moment. "Which way?" he asked.

Mei stopped, looking left and then right. Her brow furrowed, and then she took a deep breath. "Let's keep moving forward…" she said calmly.

Kai nodded, gripping her hand tighter and stepping forward first, leading her. Together, they moved onward.

Kai and Mei continued walking. Their steps echoed on the hard ground, and the surroundings slowly changed. The dense forest gradually gave way to open fields.

"Here we are!" said Kai happily.

"Finally!" Mei added briefly.

Kai and Mei stepped out into the bustling streets of the capital, the noise and movement of the crowd pressing around them. After a brisk walk, the imposing facade of the White House rose before them. They approached the grand entrance, the echo of their footsteps on the marble steps the only sound breaking the silence of the courtyard.

They reached the heavy doors and pushed them open.

Lily appeared from one of the side passages, carrying a tray with cups and a pitcher. The sound of the door opening made her turn around. The moment she saw Kai and Mei, her eyes widened sharply. The tray slipped from her hands and hit the floor, shattering the porcelain into sharp fragments.

"You… you're alive?" she asked, her voice trembling, echoing off the walls.

"Looks like it…" said Kai, closing his eyes for a moment and lowering his head with pride.

"Yes, yes…" Mei added, closing her eyes and nodding.

"I'll go tell the Master immediately!" Lily exclaimed before hurrying toward the stairs.

"We're hungry—" Kai started, but his sentence went unfinished. Lily had already disappeared up the stairs, leaving them alone in the quiet hallway, hungry.

Their eyes met for a moment. Then they both sighed and headed toward their room.

They entered and were about to lie down on the bed, when suddenly a loud, deep sound of a horn — battle horn — resonated through the halls of the White House and spread across the courtyard.

Mei quickly ran to the window. "Elves!" she exclaimed, astonished.

Kai stood beside her as they watched the scene below, together. From the White House emerged Vorenhart, while from the Elf carriage, their king stepped out gracefully and with dignity.

The carriage was adorned with golden details and the horses nervously shifted their hooves on the stone tiles.

Both moved toward each other, their motions carrying an air of authority. Kai and Mei observed quietly, with alert attention, but no conversation could be heard through the window.

"What's going on here?" Vorenhart asked, his voice calm but clearly reflecting confusion as he tried to make sense of the scene before him.

"You didn't stick to the deal, that's what's going on," said the king.

"Of course I did! The brother and sister aren't here!" Vorenhart retorted, his tone raised but still controlled.

The king looked at him suspiciously, eyes fixed directly on Vorenhart while his body remained upright and composed. He wanted to add something, but before he could, Lily suddenly ran through the hallway and approached President Vorenhart.

"Kai and Mei have returned…" she whispered quietly, her voice only reaching his ears, not the others present.

Vorenhart's eyes widened; the moment stretched almost in slow motion. His gaze instinctively shifted toward the window of their room, as if he instinctively knew where they were.

"Elandore, I'm really sorry…" Voren began, his voice subdued, body slightly hunched — this was the first time he looked truly concerned. His facial expression revealed fear.

The king lifted his head, posture upright and proud, every movement deliberate to maintain a noble appearance before everyone. "Just as I thought… If I can't get those Demons dead the easy way, then I'll crush the entire Empire!" His voice was deep and cold, carrying the weight of authority and threat as his gaze swept over the Elf beside him.

The assistant standing next to Elandore held a dusty scroll and handed it to the king. "Do you remember what this is?" he asked quietly, but loud enough for Voren to hear.

"The armistice, the one we signed when you wanted the Elves to separate from the Empire…" Voren replied, feeling his heart race. His eyes remained calm, but the inner tension was evident.

"Exactly!" Elandore said, leaving no room for negotiation. Without hesitation, he tore the truce before everyone's eyes; the paper creaked and crumbled into pieces. "I declare war!" he shouted.
