Chapter 17: Aftermath [2]
[You survived a danger worse than 'Perilous'. The trait [Sixth Sense] levels up.]
[You had resisted the oppression against a significantly higher being. Your trait [Decisiveness] has levelled up.]
[Requirements met. You had encountered a Divine Sense attack as a lower being. You had acquired the trait [Corruption Resistance].]
These are the last few notices that are important. So if I survive some dangers with the [Sixth Sense], I can get it to level up? I finally get why the Exp needed to level up this skill is ridiculous.
Next, [Decisiveness] levelled up? I do remember that it has the major effect that nullifies negative emotions, so this is it..
Lastly, a new trait? Let me check it..
[Corruption Resistance]
-Slight resistance to Divine Sense attacks and a great resistance against mind-type attacks.
-Gives 10% resistance to Divine Sense Attacks and 40% resistance to mind-control attacks.
Another resistance-type trait? I can now say that I am walking the Tanker path with great confidence.
This should be all. To summarize, I now have a 60% increased physical resistance, 25% increased energy resistance, 15% mind and spiritual damage resistance, and another universal 50% resistance (towards injuries).
This makes it a 110% Physical Resistance, 75% energy resistance, and 65% mind and spiritual damage resistance.
I am walking on the path of a tank, just like a certain mechanic out there..
Putting these thoughts aside, I look at my surroundings. I woke up inside a.. hut? I woke up in a bed inside a hut?
I am confused, but I realized a problem first.
"Xiao Song, are you there? Little Xue?"
{Yes, master?}
A message appeared in my sight. To br exact, its in my retina.
"Thank goodness.. Where are you, by the way?"
{I am inside you, master. We became one not long ago.}
Eh? What.. happened? Did I climb the steps to adulthood without knowing?
****
"So that's it. If you can, please don't make such misleading statement again.."
{But it's all true though?}
"Sigh.. This would take a while to fix this habit, I guess."
I finally grasped some of the sisters' personalities. Little Xue is the childish one who pushed the decision-making to me. Meanwhile, Xiao Song is the blunt one, saying the most practical statement without minding the misunderstanding that it might cause.
Yes, we "became one" not long ago. That is, she turned the armor back in its nanomachines form and resided inside my body.
The various effects of her modules then not only affected herself, but my body too.
An example of that is the [Enhanced Recovery] module. With that, it'll also affect me if there's nothing to repair. Since <Savior's Armament> is capable of absorbing the energies in the surroundings, the modules will be continuously activated as well. This is impossible before, but with the Daoist and Magic System engravings on each nanomachine, the impossible for the technology alone became possible.
"What about Little Xue?"
{She's sleeping right now to recover, but she also became one with you.}
"Not again.. But then, I see."
The key to victory against that 'Perilous' danger is Little Xue. Without her temporarily transforming into a special S+ Rank weapon, I would've been forced to use the option of leaving behind vice captain. That would surely flood me with guilt.
Looking at my panel..
[Lugh Austere Bayer]
Rank: B
Latent Potential: C-
Exp: 242,400
Strength: B-
Agility: C+
Stamina: B-
Vessel: A-
Wisdom: C
Traits:
[Dagger Mastery (LV3)]
[Dexterous Hands (LV4)]
[Sword Mastery (LV1)]
[Decisiveness (LV3)]
[Sixth Sense (LV2)]
[Poison Body (LV1)]
[Damage Offset (LV1)]
[Stone Skin (LV1)]
[Resilience (LV1)]
I am at B Rank now. In a span of less than a week, I went from E+ to B Rank. Still, I would've been weaker than the stronger B Ranks as I didn't have the necessary training that they had undergone. Though, my traits could help me at least escape.
It should also be thanks to the consecutive events that happened right now. If I didn't have [Sixth Sense], if I didn't have Xiao Song and Little Xue, I wouldn't be stronger to when I was now. I would've chosen the revival option, making me feel guilt as I didn't even repay the favor that I owe them.
I wouldn't be able to go on a rampage during that battle since I would've been insta-killed. In the end, all of the events that I've experienced are all thanks to luck.
But then, we couldn't rely on luck every time. Look, I even made the preparations when I sensed the danger on that crack, but it wasn't enough. Without the revival function of the [Panel], I wouldn't survive to have these series of coincidences.
Am I really that useless without the [Panel]?
"Ehem. You're awake."
To my surprise, a man stood in front of the door. Short blonde hair, emerald eyes. He looked like he's in his mid 20's, like the ones on some animes.
He wears a black trenchcoat, contrasting the snowy environment that I saw outside the door.
"You really defied the natural laws of the world.."
Eh? Is he by chance talking about the revival chances? I became vigilant all of a sudden.
"Calm down. I'm not someone who you think it is."
{Master, calm down. He can be trusted.}
"He can?"
{Yes. He's a good friend of my former master.}
The friend of that Heavenly Sovereign, the one with the strong-sounding name?
"I am Luke Starfrost, a good friend of Yan Weizhe. She should've explained it to you already, yes?"
Yep, she did. Luke Starfrost, a member of the Star race, one of the strongest races in this world. When they become an adult, they will be at the lowest, SSS Rank, while EX+ Rank for the talented ones.
He met the Heavenly Sovereign during an adventure, and they became good friends. Since both have a very strong potential, it is natural to be friends.
"I'm sorry for the misunderstanding."
"No need. In fact, that's the right reaction to have when a stranger peers into your secret."
Since he knew about my revival chances, I decided to ask a question discreetly, maybe to get the load off my chest as well.
"Mister, may I ask you a question?"
"Yes?"
"What if a person relies on something to grow stronger faster? What if he's useless without that thing? Is he useless?"
"Hm.."
He seems quite startled, maybe because he didn't expect me to ask that question.
"Why would he be useless in the first place?"
Eh?
"Its his own thing, that is his own power. There shouldn't be "What ifs". If it really disappears someday, then prepare. Be stronger when you still have that thing to the point that you won't mind that loss in the future."
So that's it. If it's still there, it's my own power. If it disappears, I should at least become stronger to the point that I won't mind its disappearance. I felt enlightened, so I thank him.
"Thank you very much, Mister!"
"No need. It seems like you have your answer already."
Yes, he's right. I don't have the time to ponder over the fact whether I'm useless or not right now. The important thing is that I should utilize every moment where the [Panel] still exists within me.
I became highly motivated, until I was startled as he dropped a bombshell.
"Are you interested on becoming my first disciple?"
"???"
"Don't look at me like that. You're at B Rank already right? How old are you, 16? That's just the infant stage on my race."
Turns out, I really stood out with my stats. I found out that my advancement speed is even fast in the standards of the Star Race. Still, this didn't make me overconfident, as I knew that all of this came from [Panel].
Then, how do I become his disciple?
"I know your look. You only have to kneel once, in front of me. We don't need to do the complex ceremonies that the Cultivators do."
I did as he said, kneeling down on one knee in front of me.
"Your name?"
"Ah? Lugh Kerr."
I chose to use the name that I was registered in this world, Lugh Kerr.
"As of this day, Lugh Kerr will be my, the Sword Fanatic's first disciple."
EHHHH? He's the Sword Fanatic? The maker of the technique that I used so much?!
