Shuttling Between the Two Worlds

Chapter 10: Sixth Sense [1]

Ugh.. What is this?

I regained consciousness, but all I see is darkness. Where the hell am I?

Suddenly, a star that is continuously emitting bright light caught my attention. Smaller stars who are emitting weaker but still bright light are also orbiting that said star.

What's this?

Unexpectedly, a hand reached out to the biggest star from before, hell bent on crushing it.

The biggest star emitted even more light, but its outcome didn't change—which is to get crushed into pieces.

Now that the biggest star was crushed, the smaller stars lost its brightness one by one, until they all crumbled into the darkness.

What did just happen? Stars? Hand? What are-

--------

"Huff!"

I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling. White walls, high tech stuff. Am I in another world? Oh, I am.

The fuzziness on my head disappeared, along with those silly thoughts.

I saw that I am in a bed, a hospital bed. So I survived! But wait, what is that dream all about?

I was about to think about it, but some notices caught my attention.

[Requirements met. You're a being who lived after death without going through the reincarnation cycle. The trait [Sixth Sense] has been awakened.]

[The trait [Decisiveness] has leveled up.]

[Requirements met. You escaped the mental attack of a significantly higher-ranked being. Wisdom Stat has been upgraded to D-.]

Sixth sense? So its the one who kept warning me not to stop from before..

[Decisiveness] had levelled up. Nice. Speaking of, it did turn off automatically when I lost consciousness. Looks like it generates a bit of mental fatigue as well..

Wait, that works? By surviving the mental attack of that S+ Brain Worm, my stat had gone up?

I awakened a new trait. Let's see what it is..

[Sixth Sense (LV1)]

-The sense that allows a lifeform to peek through time at a higher dimension.

-Allows the possessor to sense a potential harm to oneself.

-Allows the possessor to sense a "perilous" danger to oneself in the next 30 minutes and at the same time, allows the user to "sense" the opportunity to nullify the danger aforementioned before.

-Allows the user to "sense" an incoming danger and things beneficial to oneself.

Whoa. I didn't expect to get something like this. It is a watered down "Future Gauging Eyes"..

Keynote is oneself, so dangers related to me? Then, is the dream earlier a danger to me? Will it happen in the next 30 minutes?

Just as I am analyzing the effects of this trait, I "sensed" something.

Images popped up inside my head. A huge barrier covers planet Kyton, 20+ humanoid zergs, a star system wide zerg attacks, destroyed cities, and lastly, an Adult Brain Worm that fought with an old muscular man before the images jumped into the death of the old man. The Brain Worm is seen leaving through a space crack.

After the images stopped, I noticed that I am having cold sweat. Not only am I pale, but it generated quite a lot of mental fatigue as well.

Thank goodness it doesn't cost Qi nor Aura. What would happen if I'll have this during a battle? It's not like my enemy would give me time to recover.

But then, is that the "Sixth Sense"? Is that future that will happen in the next 30 minutes? If so, it'll be a total disaster.

The cities are destroyed, meaning, I'll most likely die. If those strong men died, then how would I survive?

What should I do? Even though I've been through that nest escape from before, knowing that a disaster will happen in the next 30 minutes still gave me the anxiety.

Calm down.

Fine, I can't. I'll just use the [Decisiveness] trait.

[Decisiveness]!

I calmed down immediately. Not only that, but my thinking speed increased to 75% too.

Now, what should I do? Can I just tell my premonition to others? Nope, no one would believe it. Imagine someone telling you it'll be the end of the world the next hour, who would believe that?!

Should I just rely on the revival chances of the system? I recall that I only got revived after 12 hours before. If its like that, then this is a sure-fire way to avoid the calamity.

But the vice captain, and the others. They saved me once. I can't leave them just like this. I'll set this aside as a last ditch attempt.

Then, should I power up during that time, so as to Rank up? No, there's more than 20 S Rank zergs from god knows where.

Hey, the ones who sweeped through the outer layer. You said that you've killed all zergs S Rank and above? Then, will those ones pop up in thin air?

Its a no go as well. Even if I max out my mastery towards [Sword Willows], it won't work.

Wait a minute.. I keep forgetting something.

-Allows the possessor to sense a danger to oneself in the next 30 minutes and at the same time, allows the user to "sense" the opportunity to nullify the danger aforementioned before.

So as to say, the opportunity to nullify the danger came together with the visions of before. Opportunities and Dangers come together. A classic quote from those novels that I've read before.

Wait, let me remember. Incongruency, incongruency..

I got it!

In the visions of before, I saw a house that stood out. It should've been at.. the residential area, if I'm not mistaken.

(Most, if not all cities, follow this layout: Residential Area, Commercial Area, Upper Area, Military Area, and the Central Area where the decision-makers and the most important people of the city resides.)

I don't know why it appeared, but it's the only vision out there that didn't spell out "disaster".

Not even changing my hospital clothes, I rushed straight to the door and left the room.

Going downstairs twice, I'm finally able to leave the hospital. I'm in the Military Area?

It is evidently so, due to how many uniformed soldiers are being in a rush left and right. I tried to maneuver through the many people out here, but I'm still slowed down.

The gate.. I should go to the gate where the Military Area and the Residential Area are connected.. It's at West, I think.

Along the way, I found out that its not only at the hospital, but everywhere else in the Military Area. This can be seen only when.. there's an emergency. Soldiers leaving through the barracks left and right, and them fully armed. Isn't the disaster in the next 30 minutes?

"Excuse me, but what's happening?"

"You are? Oh, wait. You just left the hospital?"

"Yes."

To settle my confusion, I decided to ask around.

"So that's why you didn't know. There's a Class-3 Zerg Horde that's been occuring in the entire planet right now."

Class-3 Zerg Horde. Every Zerg Horde are classified into 7 Classes. At Class-3, there's at least an A Rank Zerg leading the horde.

Wait, its still not the disaster yet! There's still no S Class Zergs present!

"Oh, thanks."

I decided. I'll use [Silent Steps] to maneuver around. This'll take me forever if I'll only walk normally.

[Silent Steps]

Every 2m-4m, I use it to avoid those people. Even though they're orderly, they're also crushing me to death!

After 5 minutes of struggling, I'm finally out. The soldiers going out of the Military Area, and the residents of the Residential Area evacuating to the shelters.

Class-3 Zerg Horde. Why did the higher ups decided to leave them here? I get it, its for training, I think. But won't they cause casualties greater than they've thought?

I'm in no place to judge them, but I think they're wrong.

Leaving the thoughts aside, I tried to recall rhe appearance of the house.

Let's see. No roof, 3 Story building, white paint, and a faded "T" Mark.

To find it much more earlier, I used [Silent Steps] to go up the rooftop of a public building.

I say, running sideways on a building feels so novel, the kind that you'll see only in fantasies.

You may not know this, but there's a satellite up in the orbit who detects abnormalities such as a person going up the rooftop. They wouldn't sound an alarm though if it's a designated [Public Area] and if the time is right.

Roofless buildings with less than 3 floors.. Even though its quite rare, there's still many. One, two, 10,19, 25.

25 buildings to check. Damn it.

Crucial time flew by..

15 minutes later, by the 23rd house.

I found it.
