Chapter 1049: Nautical Chart
Despite the temptation of the possibility that Tobba could be revived, 134's attitude remained fixed and resolute. Of course, Lily wasn't discouraged at all. After all, this wasn't her first attempt, and it wouldn't be her final one.
After a light sigh, Lily patiently added, "Mithila, let me be frank with you. Mr. Charles is facing a huge crisis over there—a major crisis threatening the surface world.
"Remember the disappearance of the darkness and the rising of the sea levels? The crisis he's trying to resolve is no less severe than those threats.
"Right now, everything seems calm, and it's all thanks to Mr. Charles holding things together by himself. He's in great need of help. He desperately needs help.
"For everyone and Mr. Charles' sake… I must go and help him."
134 set down the teapot in her hand. Her mouth opened, revealing a hideous sight as she chuckled arrogantly and said, "Take a look outside, little girl. Don't you see those good-for-nothings?! We are now considered to be part of Whereto, all thanks to the Governor's grace, but we're still pirates.
"With that in mind, do you really think that we'd sacrifice our own interests to help others? I'm not going to give you what you want. I'm not going to give it to you, and if you insist on staying here, then you better be patient because you're going to be frustrated to no end!"
"Don't bother using Charles' name to persuade me. He's been gone for so long; who knows where he is right now? Perhaps he died out there a long time ago."
Just then, the door opened with a creak, and a woman with a nose ring and tattoos all over her face walked in with a wooden box in hand. The wooden box was opened, revealing an exquisite little cake inside.
It seemed that they had derived all sorts of things from Hope Island.Mithila stuffed the sweet cake into her mouth, and her red eyes instantly narrowed in delight.
"Mmm~! It's so delicious! I'm sure something as tasty as this has never existed until recently," Mithila remarked.
The Subterranean Sea world was thriving, and everyone believed that tomorrow would always be better than today. The people of the Subterranean Sea were brimming with hope for the future.
Unfortunately, only a few people understood the fragility of this hope.
Lily stood up with her brow slightly furrowed. She turned slowly to look around in the cozy room, noting everything around her. The majority of the decors in Mithila's room were embellished with lace trimmings.
There were plush dolls all over the place as well, making the entire room exude an adorable air.
"Are you not going to eat it? If so, I'll give it all to Tobba," Mithila said, placing a slice of cake in front of the bald old man doll.
Just then, Lily noticed a few photos deliberately placed in the middle of some dolls. The photos featured a group photo of the four kings of Sottom, a portrait of Tobba, and a warm family photo.
The family photo stood out the most, as it looked extremely old. It was so old that the depicted images had already faded away, becoming blurry beneath the influence of the ruthless passage of time.
Lily noticed one thing in the photo—134's genuine, child-like smile.
Lily reached out to pick up the photo, but it floated on its own and flew into 134's hand.
"What are you looking at?! Have you not heard of the word 'privacy'? You're just as rude as Charles!" 134 exclaimed, looking disgusted by Lily's actions.
"Those are your parents, right?" Lily asked. "I'm sure Mr. Charles found that photo ten years ago in that replica city full of Meeh'eks. I remember we also discovered from the files we found in that place that you're a test subject of the Foundation."
"How does that concern you?! Leave! Leave now! Today's tea party is over! We're ending it early!" Mithila exclaimed, ordering Lily to leave. She suddenly looked irritable even though she was full of mirth not too long ago.
However, Lily didn't leave, as she had noticed why 134 was angry. 134 had been living for so many years, but she still had the personality of a child. She hadn't grown up even in the slightest.
134 resembled the mouse Lily with her child-like mentality and childish personality.
Perhaps it was because they were kindred spirits, but Lily could feel the true emotions that 134 had been trying to hide from everyone. "You really miss your mom and dad, don't you?"
Mithila's heart trembled violently. Every child out there would surely want to stay with their parents. The younger they were, the stronger that desire. Mithila looked down at the photo in her hand, and her face slowly became surly as she exclaimed, "I said, leave, so scram!"
Instead of turning around to leave, Lily stepped forward. She knew that this wasn't a nice thing to do, but for Mr. Charles' sake, she was willing to be the bad guy.
"Go away!" Mithila screamed. A powerful telekinetic force burst out of her, stirring everything into the room. In an instant, the room was plunged into chaos while Lily was forced to retreat from the abrupt attack.
A wave of gentle sunlight engulfed Lily, and she finally came to a halt.
"Tell me where the Foundation created the Light God, and I'll fulfill your wish."
"Who do you think you are?! Do you seriously believe that you can become a god as well?!" Mithila exclaimed.
Sensing the commotion, the gray shadow hidden inside the teddy bear floated out of it with a bone flute in hand.
"I know there's a huge possibility of failure, but don't you at least want to try it for the sake of your parents?" Lily asked. Mithila's massive overreaction told her that there was hope.
"Help me. Once I become the Light God, I will try to resurrect your parents."
A deafening silence hung over the room for a while before the powerful telekinetic force gradually disappeared. Mithila touched the photo with her small hand and looked at it in silence. Her big red eyes gradually became even redder.
In the end, she looked up at Lily and said, "Okay. I'll tell you where that island is, and in exchange, you will resurrect my family for me."
Lily was instantly filled with joy at the reply. "Mmhm, it's a deal! Actually, I also have many people I want to resurrect myself. By then, I will bring back Tobba and your parents."
"Not Tobba! Don't resurrect him."
"What?" Lily asked, thinking that she had misheard her. From what she knew, the two had an excellent relationship. In fact, Mithila cried the hardest during Tobba's funeral.
"He instructed me that I shouldn't use any means to revive him. He said he's busy with other things over there, and he doesn't have the luxury of time to come back."
"All right, then." Lily nodded. "First of all, tell me where that place is."
Having wasted so much time here, Lily was feeling a bit impatient.
Mithila whispered something to the gray shadow, and a nautical chart soon appeared before Lily.
The nautical chart depicted the entire Subterranean Sea. The islands were clearly marked on the chart, but there were special markings on the unknown regions of the Subterranean Sea.
Mithila floated up to look over the map before pointing at one of the special markings. "It's right here. Go here."
"It's so far away? And it's in an unknown region?"
Having worked as a ship's crew member, Lily could read nautical charts. Mithila had casually pointed out a place that was at least a thousand kilometers away in reality.
"Hmph! Do you really think that the Foundation had settled down on such a tiny place upon descending from the surface world? I'll have to let you know that these unknown regions are actually inhabited!"
