The Pokemon Roy sent out was Electabuzz.

This choice surprised everyone watching.

Roy had gained worldwide recognition primarily through his Z-Moves and his famous Alolan Ninetales. Europeans weren't familiar with his other team members.

However, Electabuzz was an extremely common Pokemon across both Asia and Europe, with relatively low base stat totals. Its abilities and move pool were quite ordinary, with nothing particularly remarkable about the species. Typically, only trainers from modest backgrounds chose to raise Electabuzz due to resource constraints.

This selection seemed completely inappropriate for someone with Roy's reputation as a "top-tier talent."

Only a few Chinese spectators who had followed the university league tournaments showed expressions of genuine interest.

If these European audiences knew that this Electabuzz had originally been considered completely worthless with zero potential, their reactions would be priceless.

Electabuzz had initially wanted to greet the crowd cheerfully, but upon hearing the dismissive comments, its mood immediately soured.

"Buzz!" it growled angrily, clenching its fists.

Fortunately, Roy didn't make it endure the disrespect for long before giving his command.

"Electabuzz, use Bolt Strike."

The moment they heard this instruction, everyone looked confused.

What kind of move was that? None of them had ever heard of it.

Only Electabuzz's eyes lit up with excitement as it instantly released the restraints on its power, allowing brilliant blue mega-voltage to surge across its body!

The original concept for the Thunder Armor had been developed by mimicking Zekrom's signature "Bolt Strike" technique.

Roy had used Electabuzz to perform simplified versions of Bolt Strike before, but those were essentially just electrical collisions without any real technical sophistication - barely qualifying as actual "moves."

Today's Bolt Strike was fundamentally different.

A month ago, after mastering the "Fusion Bolt Mode," the increase in Electabuzz's strength appeared superficial, but it actually represented a dramatic improvement in its control over heterogeneous lightning energy.

The Bolt Strike technique was Electabuzz's greatest achievement over the past month.

Roy didn't know the full power of the original Bolt Strike, but Electabuzz's version had become the only Electric-type move it had truly mastered at this level.

The technique involved releasing mega-level voltage at full power, compressing it intensely, concentrating it at a single point, and driving forward toward the target with devastating force.

In an instant, violent blue lightning coursed over Electabuzz's entire body surface, creating a sound like a thousand birds singing in unison. Its tiger-stripe markings flickered and pulsed as it transformed into a humanoid beast bathed in thunder and lightning.

BOOM!

The ground cracked and crumbled beneath its feet.

Electabuzz collided with the move testing apparatus in an explosive impact. Divine thunder struck with tremendous force, generating massive kinetic energy that created violent windstorms throughout the arena.

The testing machine shook violently as numbers on the display screen jumped erratically.

Finally, the numbers stabilized and the machine delivered its evaluation: 724 points.

The previously noisy venue fell completely silent, leaving the European audience speechless.

Even experienced trainers were secretly amazed.

A score of 600 represented the minimum threshold for professional level, while 724 points had undoubtedly reached mid-professional level standards.

Without even breaking through its species' natural limits, this Pokemon's strongest attack had achieved mid-professional level power.

Zenia's expression became serious as she carefully observed both Electabuzz and Roy.

What level of secret technique was this so-called "Bolt Strike"?

Seeing the arena so quiet that a pin drop could be heard, Roy calmly recalled his Poke Ball while maintaining an expert's composed exterior.

Internally, however, he was celebrating.

Making these Europeans who had shown hatred, rejection, and contempt toward him become quiet, confused, and even desperate felt incredibly satisfying.

Was this what it meant to silence critics through overwhelming strength?

Roy found the experience somewhat addictive.

The first stage of preliminaries concluded that morning.

Roy advanced without surprise, but upon checking the results, he discovered something interesting.

"724 points only ranked eighth?" Roy wondered aloud.

Arlo had mentioned that six professional-level trainers were participating in this tournament, including himself, and Takeshi Aihara from Japan also possessed professional-level combat capabilities.

Eighth place positioned him just behind these seven competitors.

His ranking seemed reasonable. Despite Arlo's questionable motives regarding Roy, his tournament information appeared accurate.

Looking further down the list, ninth place belonged unsurprisingly to France's rising star, Zenia Reginald.

The highest score in the move testing stage was 1,272 points, achieved by an American trainer named Karla.

Of course, scores from move testing couldn't accurately measure actual combat effectiveness, since competitors might be concealing additional capabilities.

"I wonder how many points a Z-Move would score," Roy mused with curiosity.

Since his Z-Moves could instantly defeat professional-level Pokemon, they should easily exceed 1,200 points.

Move testing machines, like power level scanners, held a certain romantic appeal for competitive-minded individuals.

Back when he watched Dragon Ball, Roy would occasionally cover one eye with his hand and smirk, "Hmph, their power level is only trash."

Unfortunately, these move testing devices capable of withstanding professional-level attacks without damage while providing accurate data evaluation had no commercial availability - they were classified as military equipment.

"Attention all contestants! The second stage of preliminaries will begin shortly. Please report to the venue immediately."

Hearing the announcement, Roy finished his baked apple, picked up his baseball cap, put it on, and headed toward the arena.

The French accent was quite thick, but their cuisine was genuinely excellent. He felt fortunate not to be competing in neighboring England, where he imagined eating bland food every day.

The second preliminary stage featured 500 advancing contestants divided into three groups based on their scores for tournament matches. The final 32 participants for the main competition would be determined through this process.

Roy didn't fully understand the specific competition mechanics, knowing only that defeating three opponents would secure his entry into the main tournament.

Returning to Zone B, Roy attracted the attention and apprehension of many competitors. Most hoped to avoid being matched against him, since simply reaching the top 32 guaranteed rewards, and many weaker participants wanted to rely on favorable matchups to advance.

"Next match: contestants 777 and 134."

Roy didn't wait long before hearing his number called over the public address system.

When he saw his opponent's appearance, Roy was momentarily stunned. The man had a beard at least five centimeters thick - was this really supposed to be a "youth" competitor?

Well, Caucasians did tend to look older than their actual age.

While Roy was making this observation, his bearded opponent wore a bitter expression as he reluctantly entered the arena.

"The battle format is two-versus-two. Please select your Pokemon," the referee announced.

Both trainers released their Poke Balls simultaneously.

The opposing Pokemon was a Talonflame.

If the Pidgeot family represented the common "house birds" found everywhere in China, then the Fletchling evolutionary line served the same role in the European region.

Amara, who had battled Roy previously, had also used Talonflame.

Fire and Flying dual-typing.

Roy's chosen Pokemon was Metang.

"What the hell! A shiny pseudo-legendary?!" the bearded trainer exclaimed.

He hadn't paid attention to yesterday's matches, only now realizing who his opponent was.

However, he quickly found reason for optimism.

Since it hadn't evolved to its final form, this Metang was obviously still in training. Roy had clearly chosen this Pokemon for experience purposes rather than taking him seriously.

Wasn't this essentially giving him a chance?

Talonflame's Fire typing provided an advantage against Metang's Steel typing. Winning this match would create a two-on-one advantage in the second round.

Victory wasn't impossible!

The moment the battle began, the bearded trainer issued the first command.

"Fly up and maintain distance!"

Talonflame soared high, demonstrating the aerial superiority of Flying-type Pokemon.

"Heat Wave!"

Talonflame spread its wings and generated a hurricane while infusing the winds with fire energy.

Airflow-based attacks covered enormous areas and were extremely difficult to avoid, especially for Pokemon like Metang with limited speed. The target would be forced to either defend or endure the attack directly.

It was the correct tactical decision.

However...

"Dodge it," Roy said casually.

As the Heat Wave swept across the arena, Metang's crimson eyes suddenly became unfocused for a moment - it was using Psych Up, immediately entering a weightless state.

Autotomize, Rock Polish, Agility - the remarkable effect of Psych Up allowed it to gain the benefits of three stat-boosting moves instantaneously.

The average weight of Metang was 202 kilograms. Having been exposed to Totem aura for extended periods, Roy's Metang was significantly larger than typical specimens, normally weighing 316 kilograms. However, due to its Light Metal ability's weight reduction effect, its actual weight was only 150 kilograms.

Upon entering the weightless state, Metang's effective weight dropped to just 20 kilograms - equivalent to an Abra - while its speed increased dramatically.

Under these conditions, it demonstrated incredible velocity.

The scorching winds swept across the ground, heating the special alloy flooring until it glowed red-hot, but Metang had somehow appeared at the edge of the Heat Wave's range, completely unscathed.

"What—" the bearded trainer stammered in shock, staring at Metang's impossible positioning.

That speed was beyond anything he had expected.

"Meteor Mash!" Roy commanded.

Metang's twin iron claws glowed with Steel-type energy as it struck the ground with tremendous force.

The reaction from this powerful impact launched its 20-kilogram body forward like a projectile.

"Get out of the way!" the bearded trainer shouted desperately.

But it was too late.

Metang wrapped both iron claws around Talonflame's torso in a crushing embrace.

Without waiting for Roy's next instruction, Metang suddenly severed the neural connection between its twin brains and activated the other brain's Psych Up ability.

Role Play activated!

Role Play target: Heavy Metal ability!

"GAAHHH!!!"

A terrifying weight of 632 kilograms suddenly manifested around Talonflame's wings. The Flying-type heard distinct snapping sounds as intense pain shot through its wings. It released an agonized cry while plummeting vertically toward the ground.

CRASH!

Simply by embracing its opponent's wings, Metang had achieved the effect of a devastating Body Slam attack.

For perspective, even Snorlax, widely considered extremely heavy, averaged only 460 kilograms. Only exceptionally well-fed Snorlax with superior breeding exceeded 600 kilograms.

Looking down at Talonflame, which was struggling desperately to stand, Metang raised its right claw high and brought it down mercilessly.

Talonflame possessed double resistance to Steel-type energy, but under this assault, it felt overwhelming terror.

Don't come any closer, you heavy monster!

SLAM!

This was Meteor Mash empowered by tremendous weight!

With a single punch, Talonflame was completely knocked unconscious.

Defeating its opponent should have been cause for celebration, but Metang somehow felt insulted by the ordeal. Its irritation triggered an unexpected reaction.

Brilliant light began emanating from Metang's body!

The light of evolution had begun!
