Chapter 41: Chapter 41: There Is No Senju, Only Konoha
"Huh?" Naruto, Sakura, and the others looked confused. "What are you talking about? You mean Orochimaru was defeated so easily? Second Generation brother, you're so strong!"
"..." Tobirama, despite knowing this explanation might go over Naruto's head, still tried to offer a brief explanation.
"Well, I am a Hokage, after all."
He continued, "The real problem with Orochimaru is that he can shed his skin and be reborn, like a snake. But, while I marked him with the Flying Thunder God, I also placed a sealing technique on him, which binds his soul to his body for a limited time."
Tobirama's mastery over summoning and soul contracts was second to none in the ninja world. Only the Sage of Six Paths could rival his speed.
"Ah, forget it," Tobirama sighed as he rubbed his forehead. It was his fault for trying to explain this to someone like Naruto.
Naruto, squinting and tilting his head, simply responded, "Oh... okay..." His expression resembled that of a curious puppy trying to make sense of things.
Tobirama glanced over at Naruto and then shifted his attention to the half-black, half-white child standing behind him.
He never expected to see him again. Was he really resurrected?
The thought of powerful ninjas from the past being brought back to life in this era raised new questions about the limits of what could be resurrected. The 'quiz question' needed a complete redefinition.
Tobirama looked at Itama, who seemed to have a familiar feeling about him. The boy had been saved by him with immense strength. Was he a member of the Senju clan?
Itama, who was still uncertain of his past and lineage, cautiously stepped forward. His voice was timid, "H-hello."
He had always been soft-tempered compared to his brothers. Unlike them, he was neither as assertive nor as strong. His potential, it seemed, was far less than that of Itama, his older brother, or even Tobirama.
Naruto, eager to break the silence, introduced the boy, "Ah, this is Itama, the brother of mine I told you about. But he refuses to tell us his last name. He speaks both Uzumaki and Uchiha, and it seems he has some issues with Sasuke's family. By the way, I was also planning to ask what the Uzumaki clan means."
Naruto's words were interrupted as he noticed something was off about Tobirama's behavior.
Tobirama seemed quite excited, his emotions shifting between joy and nostalgia. Naruto, trying to make sense of it, asked himself, Could it be that they know each other? But no, no... wasn't Tobirama long gone by the time the Third Hokage was still a child?
Itama, noticing the strange air around him, added hesitantly, "Hello, my name is Itama, and my last name is..."
Before he could finish, Tobirama placed a hand on his shoulder, marking him with the Flying Thunder God. Nothing would stop him now from protecting his brother.
"Senju. Your surname is Senju," Tobirama spoke softly. "Your full name is Senju Itama... You died at the age of seven, during the war."
"!!!"
Itama was completely shocked. This person knew so much about him, far more than anyone else should.
Naruto, also startled, shouted, "Ahhhhhhh! Don't scare me like that! Second Generation brother, I'm terrified of ghosts, zombies, and things like that!"
Tobirama, with a sigh of exasperation, replied, "He's alive, you idiot! He was resurrected just like me!"
Naruto blinked in confusion, but his face cleared when he processed Tobirama's words. "Oh, oh, oh! If you say so, then I won't be scared."
Sakura, who had been silently observing, suddenly interrupted, "Naruto! His last name is Senju!!"
Naruto, realizing the significance of the moment, exclaimed, "Ah? I know, the Second Generation guy said it just now. By the way, do you know the Second Generation guy?"
Sakura smacked her forehead. "Idiot Naruto!! Lord Second Hokage's last name is Senju!! Senju Tobirama!!"
"!!!"
Itama was speechless. He stared at Tobirama, now noticing the striking resemblance between the man before him and his own family. The crimson eyes he inherited from his mother were undeniably present in Tobirama.
"Fei, Brother Tobirama?" Itama's voice trembled, and he barely dared to recognize him.
"It's me, Itama."
Tobirama's voice was steady, though tinged with emotion. He rarely addressed his brother with such warmth.
"Then..." Itama's voice cracked. He was overcome with a flood of emotions as memories of the past came rushing back. "How many years has it been? Where's brother Hashirama? I went back to the clan, but there was nothing there! Where is my father? What happened to the Senju clan? Why are the Uzumaki and Uchiha clans together?"
The mention of these questions brought a deep silence over Tobirama.
He stared at his brother with a somber look in his eyes. "There is no Senju, no Uchiha, no Uzumaki," he began. "There is only Konoha now."
A heavy weight settled over the group. Itama, still processing the enormity of the situation, could only stand in silence as he tried to comprehend the changes in the world.
Tobirama continued, "The Senju, Uchiha, and Uzumaki clans have all faded into history. What remains is Konoha, a symbol of unity and the future. The dream of the past no longer exists as it once did. It's up to the new generations, like you, to shape the future of this village."
Itama, deeply moved by his words, nodded slowly. He still had many questions, but he knew now that the world had moved on, and he too must do the same.
The future of Konoha, and the world, lay in the hands of those who would carry on the legacies of their ancestors.
