Shinigami: Medicine Can't Save The Soul Reaper Society

Chapter 234: Chapter 235: The Election of the President

Standing at the podium, Makoto found himself utterly bewildered as he faced the audience, which seemed to be gripped by an inexplicable fervor.

Wait a second… He had merely borrowed a few rhetorical techniques from his past life, ones commonly used by women's organizations, with the sole intention of avoiding the fierce protests that would inevitably arise if the "Capture-Makoto Association" were dissolved.

So why… why had things suddenly taken such an odd turn?

Could it be that the women of the Seireitei, lacking any notion of gender equality, had been struck by his words in a way he hadn't anticipated?

For a moment, Makoto stared into the sea of passionate gazes directed at him and realized with a sinking heart that his next step—introducing a vote to divert attention—was now completely unnecessary.

He had even gone so far as to prepare a rigged ballot box, just in case things didn't go as planned and he couldn't secure Unohana's approval. Now it seemed like a pointless effort.

While Makoto was still scrambling to figure out his next move, a noblewoman, still full of charm despite her age, rose to her feet and shouted passionately:

"Dr. Senju, please become the president of the 'Women's Shinigami Association'!"

"That's right! We'll follow the president and dedicate our lives to fighting for women's rights and improving women's status!"

"Dr. Senju, ahhh, I can't take it anymore!"

Ignoring some of the strange, overzealous cries, Makoto was left completely dumbfounded as the calls for him to lead the Women's Shinigami Association grew louder.

I don't want to be some kind of revolutionary…

Makoto quickly shot a glance at Risa, the founder and president of the " Capture-Makoto Association," hoping she would help resolve the situation and take up the mantle of president herself.

However, at that moment, Risa's expression was one of unrestrained passion.

No one understood the plight of women in the Seireitei better than Risa.

After her father's untimely death, the Aoki family had been reduced to just her and her mother, Chiyoko. The hardships her mother endured and the scorn Risa herself faced were etched deeply into her heart.

Especially after her mother's passing, when Risa was left to support the entire family on her own, she had come to understand the weight of such burdens all too well.

Makoto's speech had struck a chord deep within her, resonating with her deepest emotions.

"Makoto-kun!!!"

At that moment, seeing Risa's fanatical expression, Makoto realized she was beyond hope. She would likely be the first to push him into the president's role.

Left with no choice, Makoto raised his hands slightly to calm the chaotic scene before speaking.

"First and foremost, to maintain the integrity of the 'Women's Shinigami Association,' the president must be a woman. This is necessary to avoid the awkward situation of having an outsider leading an internal cause. Therefore, for the sake of fairness…"

He paused for a moment.

Initially, he had planned to propose a vote, but upon realizing the overwhelming influence he had on the crowd, he knew he would end up elected unanimously.

Changing his approach, he continued, "I believe that the most important quality in a president is integrity, ensuring that the association remains committed to its principles rather than becoming a tool for personal power struggles."

"Hmm…"

Makoto pondered aloud, scanning the audience before his gaze landed on Kusajishi Yachiru, who was happily munching on snacks while watching the spectacle unfold.

"I propose that Kusajishi Yachiru, Vice-Captain of the Eleventh Division, serve as the president of the Women's Shinigami Association."

After a brief pause, he added, "Of course, if anyone objects, feel free to raise your hand."

A deafening silence fell over the crowd—no one raised a hand.

Makoto knew this wasn't because Yachiru commanded immense respect but rather due to a rhetorical trick.

Had he asked who supported the motion, few would likely have stepped forward for such a bizarre suggestion. However, by asking for objections instead, no one dared to risk openly opposing him.

"Excellent. Since there are no objections, it's settled. The internal structure and management system of the 'Women's Shinigami Association' will be determined and announced by President Kusajishi Yachiru."

With that, Makoto hurriedly stepped down from the podium.

Meanwhile, Yachiru, still sucking on her finger, blinked her large eyes in confusion, seemingly unaware of what had just happened.

"Wha… what president?"

Climbing back onto Makoto's lap, Yachiru asked in her usual adorably innocent manner.

"Well…" Makoto explained in a way he thought Yachiru would understand. "It means there'll be lots and lots of people to play with you from now on."

"Oh, I see! Then I'll accept it! Thanks, Makoto~"

Listening to the exchange between Makoto and Yachiru, Aizen gained a deeper understanding of his friend—not that Makoto was a lolicon, but rather of his remarkable strategic mind.

Makoto could have easily ridden the wave and become president of the Women's Shinigami Association himself. Given the association's mission, it was certain to attract and influence countless women in the Seireitei, bringing with it immense prestige and power.

Yet, Makoto had declined the position and instead chosen a more sophisticated method to maintain control over the association.

Given the rivalry between the Fourth and Eleventh Divisions, as evidenced by the recent confrontation between Unohana and Zaraki, there was little chance of Makoto and Yachiru colluding. This significantly reduced the likelihood of Central 46 viewing him as a threat.

Moreover, with the association's righteous cause, Central 46 had no legitimate grounds to target him.

And with Yachiru's playful nature and lack of leadership skills, it was only a matter of time before the association fell under the joint control of Makoto and Unohana.

What an impressive plan, Makoto-kun…

The reflection in Aizen's glasses shimmered with Makoto's image as he silently admired his friend's cunning strategy.
