Shinigami: Medicine Can't Save The Soul Reaper Society

Chapter 232: Chapter 233: The Arrival of Captains

Since Makoto's promotion to Vice-Captain of the Fourth Division, his status had significantly risen. Gone were the days when noble housewives could freely visit the gynecology clinic to tease him as they pleased.

Thus, when these noblewomen, members of the Capture-Makoto Association, once again encountered a living, breathing Makoto—whose chest muscles were as firm and resilient as ever—they couldn't help but grow excited.

In mere moments, Makoto found himself completely surrounded, feeling as if his muscles were being honed through countless rounds of squeezing and prodding.

What made it worse was that Unohanap, who had been standing beside him, had been forcibly edged out of the crowd!

If Unohana hadn't been present, Makoto might have patiently and gently calmed the overly enthusiastic noblewomen.

But now, just as Makoto prepared to forcibly extricate himself…

"Makoto-kun~!"

A crisp, childlike voice rang out, and before Makoto could react, a small pink figure leapt towards his head.

In an instant, Yachiru Kusajishi clung to Makoto's face like a facehugger.

Flat… flat-headed cushion…

Struggling to breathe, Makoto's mind involuntarily conjured up this phrase as he was smothered by Yachiru.

Completely oblivious to Makoto's predicament, Yachiru rubbed her small pink head against his face and giggled, "Makoto-kun~, it's been so long since you've come to play with me!"

"Y-Ya… Yachiru, please let go! I can't breathe. I promise I'll visit the Eleventh Division to play with you as soon as I have time," Makoto said, his voice muffled and distorted.

"Really? Makoto-Kun~, you can't lie to me. It's a promise!"

"Y-Yes, it's a promise, Yachiru…"

However, with Yachiru's flat figure completely obstructing his vision, Makoto failed to notice the ominous black aura emanating from Unohana.

After all, Unohana's former name was once Unohana 'Yachiru'!

Now, watching Makoto make such an affectionate promise while addressing someone else by that name caused Unohana's mood to sour significantly.

Despite the faint black aura around her, Unohana maintained a gentle expression as she silently observed Makoto.

At that moment, a loud, impatient voice boomed from the entrance, accompanied by an overwhelming, wild spiritual pressure sweeping through the room.

"It's way too noisy in here. Hey, Yachiru, is this really where you wanted to play?"

The entire hall fell silent instantly, and everyone instinctively turned towards the source of the voice.

Standing at the entrance was none other than Kenpachi Zaraki, Captain of the Eleventh Division. With his jagged Zanpakuto resting on his shoulder and his spiky hair resembling a wild beast's mane, he exuded the aura of a predator entering a hunting ground.

"Ken-chan~!"

Yachiru, unaffected by the oppressive atmosphere, turned her head and waved at Zaraki before cheerfully saying, "Makoto-Kun is here, and he promised to visit us at the Eleventh Division!"

"Huh?!"

Zaraki's gaze shifted to Makoto, and with heavy strides, he began walking towards him.

Faced with Zaraki's overwhelming presence, the noblewomen who had encircled Makoto instinctively parted to create a clear path.

However, before Zaraki could get any closer, Unohana gracefully stepped forward and stood in his way, her calm gaze meeting his.

Zaraki halted his steps, but the spiritual pressure around him grew increasingly unstable, as if he were on the verge of unleashing it at any moment.

"Hmm? Captain Unohana, Captain Zaraki, you're both here?"

A calm, warm voice suddenly broke the tense atmosphere, easing the oppressive air in the hall.

Moments later, Aizen Sosuke, clad in the captain's haori of the 5th Division, entered the room alongside his vice-captain, Gin Ichimaru.

Unlike Zaraki's wild and aggressive demeanor, Aizen politely bowed slightly at the entrance before speaking in a gentle tone.

"May I join as an observer in today's association meeting?"

Risa, finally snapping out of her daze, hurried forward and responded enthusiastically, "Of… of course, Captain Aizen! You're most welcome. Please, come in and take a seat."

She quickly guided Aizen and Gin to seats on the other side of Makoto.

As Aizen passed by Unohana and Zaraki, he first nodded politely at Unohana before addressing Zaraki in a calm tone.

"Captain Zaraki, it might be best to restrain your spiritual pressure a bit. Otherwise, it could inadvertently harm those present."

Aizen's words immediately elevated his image in the eyes of those present. He was already known for being refined and approachable, but now his concern for the weaker individuals further endeared him to the crowd—especially the noblewomen.

Noticing the subtle changes in the onlookers' expressions, Aizen adjusted his glasses slightly before his gaze casually met Makoto's.

A faint, enigmatic smile appeared on Aizen's face—less gentle than usual but filled with a hint of playful intent.

Seating himself on Makoto's other side, Aizen glanced at the large portrait hanging prominently in the room and remarked with a smile, "Makoto-kun, that's quite a striking photo."

He then crossed his hands under his chin and continued, "By the way, Makoto-kun, when did you establish such an association? Why didn't you invite me to join? Would you consider accepting my application now?"

???

Makoto felt increasingly uneasy, as if Aizen were subtly alluding to something dangerous.

"Captain Aizen, there seems to be a misunderstanding. First of all…"

While placing Yachiru on his lap and gently patting her head, Makoto explained, "This association has nothing to do with me. It's entirely Risa's personal initiative for fun. So, even if you're interested in joining, you'd have to apply through her."

Aizen chuckled softly, his expression remaining unreadable as he responded with a noncommittal nod.
