She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 95: The Advisor's Verdict

Dr. Tisha Wells rose from her seat with the same composed authority she brought to every lecture hall.

Her heels clicked against the chamber floor as she approached the witness stand, every step measured and professional.

The chamber fell silent, watching her settle into the chair with practiced ease.

She adjusted her blazer once, placed her hands in her lap, and looked directly at Miranda with the calm confidence of someone who dealt with difficult questions for a living.

"Dr. Wells," Miranda began, her voice respectful but purposeful, "thank you for stepping forward. As Alex Hale's academic advisor, can you tell this panel about his academic performance?"

Tisha's voice was clear and unwavering. "Alex consistently ranks in the top five students across all his courses, every semester."

She let that sink in before continuing. "This is particularly remarkable given the additional pressures scholarship students face... work obligations, financial constraints, family responsibilities."

Dr. Brennan looked up from his notes, clearly impressed. Dr. Carlisle leaned forward with interest.

"And his character?" Miranda continued.

"Exemplary. In three years of academic supervision, Alex has never been involved in a single disciplinary incident." Tisha paused, her gaze sweeping the panel. "Never. Except for one altercation approximately a month ago."

The chamber's attention sharpened. Every eye turned toward Marcus, who went visibly pale.

Tyler and Robert shifted nervously beside him, their confident demeanor evaporating.

'What if the truth comes out about that beating?' Marcus thought, panic flickering in his chest. But then he steadied himself. 'There's no proof. No evidence. We made sure of that.'

Pierce felt his stomach drop. He understood exactly where this was heading, and his voice cut through the tension like a whip.

"Dr. Wells," he said sharply, "please stick to the relevant topic. We're discussing William and Brad's case, not some schoolyard scuffle over a girl."

His dismissive tone suggested the incident was beneath everyone's attention... trivial teenage drama unworthy of this formal proceeding.

Miranda's predatory smile returned, her eyes glittering as she turned toward Pierce. "My, my, Mr. Pierce. Why so worked up about it?"

She let the question hang for a moment, watching him sweat, before continuing with deliberate casualness. "But you're right... without evidence to support any claims about that particular incident, there's no point dwelling on it."

Pierce relaxed slightly, but Miranda's tone promised this reprieve was temporary.

Miranda turned back to Tisha. "What about Mr. Morrison and Mr. Carter? Have they ever displayed aggressive behavior or similar tendencies?"

"Never." Tisha's response was immediate and firm. "Danny and Mike are both excellent students, deeply committed to their studies and their families. Neither has ever been involved in any altercation or disciplinary action."

The panel members nodded, scribbling notes. The gallery listened intently, some students who had whispered earlier accusations now looking uncomfortable.

Miranda gestured toward William and Brad, who sat slumped in their chairs, all hope of gaining advantage clearly drained from their faces.

"And what's your assessment of these two young men?"

Tisha's expression grew more measured. "William and Brad aren't typically the type to initiate physical confrontations, but they can be... assertive. Bossy, even." She paused thoughtfully.

"They've had ongoing friction with Alex and his friends, but it's always been verbal... classroom tensions, social disagreements. Nothing that would suggest the capacity for this level of calculated violence."

Her words carried weight precisely because of their honesty.

She wasn't painting William and Brad as innocent angels, but as ordinary students whose personality conflicts fell far short of criminal conspiracy.

The panel absorbed this testimony, noting how it contrasted sharply with the serious charges being leveled.

Miranda's lips curled into a knowing, dangerous smile as she gestured toward Marcus and his friends. "And finally, Dr. Wells, what about these gentlemen?'"

Marcus felt every eye in the chamber focus on him.

His throat went dry as he waited for Tisha's assessment, knowing that whatever she said next could determine his fate.

"Marcus is academically capable," Tisha said evenly, "but he operates with a sense of entitlement that concerns me as an educator."

She let the first statement settle, then turned her gaze directly on Marcus before continuing.

"He's technically never been disciplined, but there have been... patterns of behavior that suggest he views conflict as personal warfare rather than normal disagreement."

Her professional demeanor never wavered as she pressed on.

"When his authority or status is challenged... particularly in public settings... he doesn't simply compete. He seeks to eliminate the source of challenge entirely. It's not malicious in the traditional sense, but it's systematic."

Her eyes stayed on him as she concluded:

"He's the type of student who would view Alex's scholarship success not as inspiration, but as an insult to the natural order he believes should exist."

The silence that followed Tisha's words was deafening. Her clinical assessment hung in the air like a diagnosis no one wanted to hear but everyone knew was accurate.

Marcus's face flushed crimson, his hands gripping the armrests of his chair so tightly his knuckles went white. The careful composure he'd tried to maintain throughout the hearing cracked like glass.

"That's... that's completely unfair," he stammered, his voice higher than usual. "She's making me sound like some kind of sociopath!"

The whispers started immediately, careful but pointed:

"From the first time his name was mentioned, I knew this guy was involved somehow."

"She perfectly depicted his personality... entitled rich brat who can't handle being told no."

"Remember what happened to Jessica when she beat him for class president? Suddenly had 'academic integrity' issues?"

"Finally, someone said what we've all been thinking for years."

The murmurs were deliberately low, but the collective recognition was undeniable. Faculty members nodded grimly, students who had been victims of Marcus's "systematic elimination" felt a moment of vindication.

The room seemed to share a silent understanding... everything Tisha had said rang true, though no one had expected such clinical bluntness.

Dr. Brennan slowly set down his pen, exchanging a significant look with Dr. Carlisle. The bluntness of Tisha's assessment had clearly surprised them, but not the content itself.

"Dr. Wells," Dr. Brennan said carefully, "your description is... remarkably candid."

Dr. Carlisle nodded, her expression thoughtful rather than shocked. "We've all observed Marcus's... approaches to academic and social challenges over the years. But are you suggesting he orchestrated this entire conspiracy?"

Tisha looked directly at Dr. Carlisle, her voice remaining calm and measured. "I'm not suggesting anything beyond what I've observed as an educator," she replied evenly.

"I'm simply describing behavioral patterns that speak for themselves."

She paused, letting her words settle over the chamber like a final judgment.

"You asked for my professional assessment. I've provided it."

The chamber fell into profound silence.

Tisha's refusal to speculate beyond her direct observations somehow made her testimony more powerful, not less.

She had presented the facts and let them draw their own conclusions.

Dr. Brennan slowly nodded. "Thank you, Dr. Wells. Your testimony has been... illuminating."

Dr. Carlisle made a final note, her pen scratching loudly in the quiet chamber. "I believe we have enough information to proceed."

Pierce shot to his feet one final time, desperation making his voice crack. "Panel members, this is still speculation! Character assessments aren't evidence of criminal conspiracy!"

"Why can't he do that, Mr. Pierce?" Miranda cut him off sharply. "He had motive, resources and the perfect opportunity to plan all of this without being suspected."

Miranda turned her gaze directly on Marcus, who had finally stopped his stammering protests.

"Mr. Steele," she said, her voice carrying deceptive casualness, "where exactly were you at the time of the alleged incident involving William and Brad?"

Marcus straightened slightly, seizing the chance to regain control. "I was in class, with my friends," he said, gesturing toward Tyler and Robert. "Plenty of people were there... any one of them could confirm it."

Miranda's smile grew more dangerous. "How remarkably thorough of you, Mr. Steele. Already prepared for every possible situation with multiple corroborating witnesses lined up."

The implication hung heavy in the air.

Marcus's face flushed again. "That's... that's just because we actually were studying together. It's not suspicious to have an alibi when you're innocent!"

Pierce objected again. "Dr. Whitman, you cannot suspect someone based purely on motive without any concrete evidence! Having witnesses to prove your whereabouts is exactly what any innocent person should do!"

His protest echoed through the chamber, but even as he spoke, the assembled crowd could see the weakness of his position.

The more prepared Marcus's alibi seemed, the more calculated the entire conspiracy appeared.
