She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 106: Elite Presence Mastery

The car hummed through the streets, neon reflections sliding across the windshield.

Alex's hands rested easy on the wheel, calm, unhurried. Beside him, Lila sat a little too close, her perfume thick in the warm air of the car.

"Where to?" he asked, voice calm but attentive, careful not to break the easy rhythm of the drive.

Lila adjusted slightly in the passenger seat, her hands resting on her lap. "Turn left at the next junction, then straight for about twenty minutes. My apartment's just past the park... third building on the right."

Her voice stayed steady, but inside, every carefully rehearsed plan she'd built between the hospital corridor and the car was already unraveling.

She had planned this moment. Sophia's instructions still echoed in her mind... get close to him, make him lower his guard. It was supposed to be strategy. Just strategy.

But the moment she'd slid into the car beside him, breathing in his scent... something clean and masculine that made her pulse quicken... all of Sophia's strategic warnings had evaporated.

The confined space, the darkness, his presence just arm's length away... it was intoxicating in a way she hadn't anticipated.

Her eyes traced the line of his shoulders beneath his shirt, the way his hands gripped the steering wheel with casual confidence.

She found herself studying the veins that ran along his forearms, the subtle flex of muscle as he shifted gears.

God, he's so hot, she thought. Not just attractive... commanding. Magnetic.

At first, she even let herself imagine it... the thrill of having Alex wrapped around her finger, his focus pulled entirely by her charm, his will quietly bent to hers.

The thought of controlling someone like him, of making a man so self-assured hang on her every word, was intoxicating.

But the longer she sat there, the more her fantasy twisted.

The illusion of dominance slipped the moment she noticed the curl at his lips, the calm steadiness in his grip on the wheel, the silent awareness in his eyes each time they flicked her way.

It wasn't him falling into her orbit... it was her falling into his.

The thought flipped in her mind, sudden and unbidden.

What if she was the one following, not leading?

What if instead of making him obey… she let him decide, let him take?

Her chest tightened, a rush of heat pooling low in her stomach as her mind betrayed her with vivid images... his voice lowered, commanding, his body close enough to pin her, those eyes pressing until she couldn't look away.

The idea of surrender, of giving herself over completely, terrified her.

And yet, the shiver that raced down her spine wasn't fear.

From the driver's seat, a faint smirk tugged at Alex's lips. He didn't look at her, but he didn't need to.

He felt the shift in her breathing, the flutter in her silence. His senses drank it in, his presence pressing on her chest like an invisible weight.

Inside his head, Lilith's voice purred, filled with amusement.

"You are so evil… can't you let the little girl breathe?"

Lila's situation wasn't accidental. This was his skill at work... Elite Presence Mastery... a subtle tightening of atmosphere, a pull that bent attention his way.

And Lila, being the sole target, experienced an intensified effect; despite all her careful plans, she was already unraveling under it.

Alex's lips curved into a faint grin. He allowed himself a quiet acknowledgment... this skill, his Elite Presence Mastery, was far more effective.

Even he hadn't realized it could be so… compelling.

"And yet… you've never used it before," Lilith voice dripped with teasing mockery.

He replied, measured and unflustered, "I never felt the need. Not until now."

A low chuckle echoed in his mind, Lilith's voice cutting in with sharp amusement.

"Better deactivate it now… or she'll fully unravel, lose herself completely, and give in to desire."

Alex eased the tension. The invisible pressure in the car lifted, the magnetic pull loosening just enough for her to draw a steadying breath.

Her chest stopped racing, her thoughts slowly untangling from the heat and rush of desire that had overtaken her.

Calm down, she told herself, forcing her breathing to steady. Arousal will destroy everything. You need to be smart about this.

She cleared her throat, forcing a calm smile, and let her hands rest naturally in her lap.

Her voice carried a casual lightness she hadn't felt moments before. "So… you, Mike. How long have you guys been friends?"

Alex turned to look at her, and for a heart-stopping moment she thought he might not want to engage. Then he smiled... a slow, knowing curve of lips that made her pulse quicken... and she felt relief flood through her.

"Mike? Since high school," Alex said evenly, his eyes returning to the road. That slight smile remained, and there was something in it that made her stomach flutter .

"Danny and I became friends first, and later Mike joined our group, together we've been through a lot."

"That's rare, you know. Friendships that last. Mike's really sweet... you're lucky." she said with a playful teasing tone.

Alex's smirk deepened, just slightly. "Or maybe he's lucky to have me."

The confidence caught her off guard, heat sparking low in her chest. She leaned in closer before she realized she was doing it. "I like that answer."

She had meant to steer the talk toward Mike, to plant seeds, but instead, she found herself asking, "So how did you and Mike first meet?"

"Football tryouts," Alex replied. A short chuckle slipped out of him. "We were both terrible."

Lila saw her opening and took it, leaning forward with manufactured enthusiasm. "Come on, you were really good. I saw the match... you were incredible out there."

Alex turned to look at her fully this time, his smile genuine. "I'm happy you liked it."

The encouragement in his voice made her bolder. "Yeah, really... I liked it very much."

She was supposed to be building trust, creating emotional connection first. Instead, she found herself rushing ahead, drawn by the way he watched her with those dark, knowing eyes.

"At first I was disappointed and angry at William and Brad for betraying you guys," she continued, her voice growing more animated. "I thought maybe you'd lose. But then you moved... oh my God, it was so hot."

Alex's eyebrows rose slightly at her directness, amusement dancing in his eyes.

Lila was looking for every emotion, every tell, and all she found was curiosity and entertainment.

The fact that he wasn't stopping her only encouraged her further.

So you're not immune to compliments from a beautiful woman either, Lila thought with a surge of pride at this small victory.

"You moved so fast it shocked the whole stadium," she continued, throwing caution to the wind. "I could hear girls shouting things like 'I want to be your girlfriend,' 'be my boyfriend'..."

She paused, then added with calculated casualness, "For a moment it made me proud... you're basically my boyfriend's.... very close friend."

The mention of Mike was supposed to provide cover, to make her seem like she was just being supportive rather than flirtatious.

But even as she said it, she was studying Alex's reaction, testing how he responded to her praise.

Her eyes flicked to his shoulders, lingering on the defined lines beneath his shirt, then traveled over his frame with clear appreciation. "You've got a great build… you must work out."

"Sometimes," Alex replied casually, almost dismissively.

His indifference only made her bolder. The professional seductress in her recognized this as a classic technique... appear uninterested to make the target work harder.

But she was beyond caring about technique now.

"Don't play modest," she said, her voice dropping to something more intimate. "Those arms don't just happen. Can I..." she reached out, fingertips brushing just shy of his bicep, "...feel your biceps?"
