Chapter 710: Progress of the Mission
Su Jiang shook his head.
"Why is that? Haven't we accomplished all of our goals? Isn't that worth celebrating?" Lu Haifeng was completely puzzled. Their mission had been accomplished with ease, and the authority over it had fallen to their side, the Southern region—an evident opportunity for achievement. It was like snatching food from the jaws of a tiger, and without guessing, one could tell that the folks from the North must be fuming with anger.
The only pity was that Xu Qigang belonged to the Northern rescue world, so half of the credit for the mission's success still went to the North.
Su Jiang glanced at the food containers on the table opposite him, raising his eyebrows in the process.
"I'm happy because of my niece!" Su Jiang exclaimed with pride. "No wonder the old man likes her so much, she's smart, well-behaved, sensible, and especially caring..." He went on to say a lot of praises in one breath. "Alas! Why did I have to have a son? How wonderful it would have been to have a daughter."
Lu Haifeng was dumbfounded. As a friend of Su Huai'an, should he pass on his father's words?
"President, the satellite phone is connected," an excited crew member on the plane shouted.
The two in conversation exchanged a look, and Su Jiang pressed the button in front of him; Qin Yue's voice soon came through.
"Reporting to the President..."
"Speak!" Su Jiang didn't wait for him to finish and cut in abruptly, "Just report the situation directly." Satellite communication time was limited, and the less time spent talking the better, due to its unpredictability.
"Yes!" Qin Yue responded immediately, quickly reporting his coordinates before saying, "President, please arrange for the evacuation team to assist us in evacuating."
"How did the mission go? Did you find it?" This was Su Jiang's primary concern.
A low chuckle came from Qin Yue's side. Due to the distance and the loud noise of the wind in the background, his laughter sounded warped. Annoyed, Su Jiang slapped the table and said irritably, "Stop laughing, it sounds terrible."
Qin Yue was taken aback and hurriedly replied, "You know me, President. It's impossible for me to return without completing the mission. However, the data isn't in my hands right now." Qin Yue clutched the newly acquired submachine gun and looked toward the underground research facility, where a firefight was underway. "Living Yama and I have developed a detailed evacuation plan; we're just waiting for him to bring up the goods now."
After converging with Living Yama, Living Yama had already obtained the mission's intelligence. The two of them had formulated a meticulous action plan based on the intel's location and clues—one taking the lead and the other providing support. Now Living Yama was leading a team below, while he was in charge of clearing any obstacles outside.
To be honest, this was surely a profitable deal. Just the international state-of-the-art weapons and ammunition he had commandeered were so heavy he could barely carry them all. Even a rocket launcher was in his possession; with their current firepower, unless a large squad came after them, no one could hope to stop him and Living Yama.
The others inside the plane didn't look too pleased upon hearing Qin Yue's words.
"President, he hasn't even secured the object, and he dares to say the mission is complete, this... this..." That was simply presumptuous.
"That Little Hooligan, still as crazy as ever."
Su Jiang waved his hand, signaling everyone to be quiet.
Lu Haifeng explained expressionlessly, "You don't understand, Qin Yue might be flippant, but Xu Qigang absolutely wouldn't be." Xu Qigang, the most reliable member of the Iron Triangle from back in the day, if he said something could be done, then it absolutely could. He wouldn't say so if there was even the slightest doubt.
