27: Dormitory Roommates
The magic-powered vehicle passed through a lush green field, traveling along a wide tree-lined avenue. Sunlight filtered through tender green leaves, scattering delicate patterns on the road. Tree shadows fell upon the students by the windows, creating a play of light and shadow on their youthful, beautiful faces, radiating the vitality of youth.
“We’ve arrived. Everyone, please disembark first. Don’t wander off. I’ll distribute your dormitory keys afterward.”
Finally, the magic-powered vehicle stopped in front of a white building. The apartment-style dormitory was entirely white, about 7-8 stories tall. The white walls felt slightly rough to the touch, hard like sand grains. Some sides of the dormitory buildings were covered with lush green vines, resembling ivy.
“Number 439, Janice.”
“Here.”
“Good, come to me. This is the key to your room, on the 3rd floor, number 26.”
“Alright, thank you.”

Afterward, the staff members distributed keys one by one and explained some precautions.
For instance, no staying out overnight, badges must be worn at all times, fighting is prohibited within the academy. After settling in, they could first look through the new student handbook, which was the small booklet given when boarding the vehicle.
“Number 624, Loran.”
“Here.”
Loranhil stepped forward and received the key.
“Your room is on the 6th floor, number 12.”
“Thank you.”
Then Loranhil entered the dormitory building. The first floor wasn’t for living. The first thing that caught her eye was a spacious lobby. On both sides of the lobby were huge notice walls, listing precautions for new students and some recent activities. The most eye-catching was a black notice, with white and blue letters dramatically written against the black background.

‘Stay tuned, March 7th.’ A small line of text was written beside it.
Is there a competition or duel coming up? Loranhil thought to herself. She’d ask other senior students later. Then she carried her rattan wood box past.
The corridor was also quite wide, with portraits of outstanding graduates hanging on the walls.

Each portrait was lifelike and exquisite, showing the painter’s extraordinary skill.
When Loranhil arrived at her assigned dormitory door, a girl was already standing there. She was carefully inserting the key into the keyhole, but it seemed stuck and wouldn’t turn. She didn’t dare use force, so she kept trying patiently.
“Are you also staying here?” Loranhil approached, checking the room number, which was indeed number 12.
“Yes, hello.” The girl paused and turned to greet her, holding the key somewhat nervously, the keychain constantly turning in her palm.
“Let me try.”
Loranhil put down her box and took out her own key. She inserted it, turned it with a bit of force, and with a soft click, the door opened.
“That’s amazing, thank you.”
“It’s nothing. What a coincidence, we sat together on the vehicle and now we’re roommates.”
Loranhil looked at the girl named Nya, then stepped inside. The dormitory was divided into three rooms, basically three rectangular spaces side by side. In the middle of the hall was a large rectangular table, with a row of low cabinets against the wall. Items could be placed on top of and inside these cabinets. The room on the left was divided into two sections, one being the bathroom and the other a simple kitchen. The room on the right was the bedroom, containing two bunk beds, already made up with bedding and pillows all set.
It looks quite nice, much more comfortable than university dorms in my previous life, more like a small apartment, Loranhil thought.
Putting down her only rattan wood box, Loranhil checked the beds. They were still clean, with new bedding and pillows. It made sense. Many of the students here were princes and children of noble families, and the academy wasn’t short on money, so the bedding naturally had to be good.
“Hello everyone, I’m Alena~”
A girl with a lively voice appeared at the dormitory entrance. Seeing people already inside, she introduced herself.
“Hello,” Nya greeted, and then Loranhil also came out from the bedroom.
The girl called Alena, panting slightly, put her box inside the dormitory, then sat down in the hall (which wasn’t very large). Loranhil was about to introduce herself when a faint meow came from the box beside them.
“Meow~”
Although the sound wasn’t loud, unfortunately, everyone in the room was a supernatural being, so they all noticed it immediately.
“This… this…” Alena’s mind raced, preparing to make up a touching story to persuade her roommates to let her keep the cat.
“Is there a cat in the box?” Loranhil asked curiously, with a hint of amusement on her face.
“Yes.” Since she couldn’t hide it, Alena decided to admit it.
“Does the school allow keeping cats?” Nya also asked curiously.
“Well… I’m not sure, but maybe, probably, perhaps, it’s allowed to keep cats.” Alena said hesitantly, then bent down and opened the box. A small orange tabby cat was lifted out.
Alena placed the tabby cat on the table, allowing her roommates to get a good look at it. The cat’s body was mainly orange and white striped, with white on its chest and paws, looking very cute. It looked around with big eyes, curious and a bit scared.
“So cute~” Nya said admiringly.
“It’s quite pretty.”
“How can someone keep a cat in the dormitory? Isn’t that against the rules?” A familiar voice suddenly appeared at the door. It was the blonde young lady in the golden dress from earlier.
This time, she wasn’t followed by a group of attendants, but was alone. She waved a folding fan in the air a couple of times, and then two boxes landed on the ground with a dull thud. It seemed she had been using air currents to carry the two wooden boxes, walking up effortlessly herself.
That folding fan is a pearl-grade supernatural artifact, Loranhil observed, roughly guessing that the fan had the effect of enhancing wind manipulation ability and stability. It was quite a rare treasure. The blonde girl herself also had Sequence 3 ability, which was why she could do this so easily.
“The school doesn’t explicitly prohibit it, does it? I remember the school even has subjects and supernatural professions related to animal taming,” Alena retorted.
“But you did this without letting us know beforehand. Don’t you think that’s selfish?”
“What if a roommate is allergic to cats? What if someone hates small animals? What if the cat isn’t clean?”
“I certainly don’t want to come back every day to find a bunch of black paw prints on my bedding, or have my clothes scratched up,” the blonde girl continued.
“Well…” At this point, Alena didn’t know how to argue back.
“But the kitty is really cute, and it’s very obedient. It will definitely get along well with everyone.”
