Chapter 780: Magnificent Beast
The first place that God took his granddaughter to was his own garden.
He and Ariel had teleported right below the huge tree that not only provided shade but was also home to a lot of small faeries and other creatures that God was fond of.
Ariel's gaze widened and her lips parted the moment her eyes fell on that garden that seemed so unreal that it looked like it was one of her bizarre dreams.
Several creatures that she had never seen before were roaming in that garden. One such creature that caught Ariel's eyes was a nine-tailed white fox that looked so majestic that Ariel felt like running to it and giving it a hug. If she was still a kid, she would have probably done that by now.
Not just the animals, but the flowers that she saw in that garden were also breathtaking. She had never seen anything like them in the Earth realm.
The almighty had been looking at his granddaughter's expression keenly. And when he saw her in awe, he asked, "Do you like this place? This is where I and your grandma spend most of our time."
"Yes." Ariel looked at her grandfather with a pleased smile on her face and said, "This should be the most wonderful garden that I have seen until now, and that I will ever see again." She looked at the nine-tailed fox again and playfully said, "You kept all the beautiful flowers and animals to yourself, grandpa."
The almighty could only laugh in amusement upon hearing Ariel's unfiltered comments. "You can come here whenever you want and admire the garden." He took a look around his wonderful garden and said with all seriousness, "You may even live here with us if you feel like it. After all, what is mine is all yours."
Ariel curled her lips upward. She appreciated that invitation from her grandfather. But she couldn't help but think that she would get bored in a week or two if she decided to live in a place where her parents weren't allowed. And not to mention how her cousins as well as Damien would also not be allowed to set foot in this realm.
God then took a stroll and then asked Ariel, "Would you like to explore the garden for a while?"
Ariel tapped her foot on the ground and thought to herself, "I don't really have the luxury of spending that much time here…" She wanted to directly say that to her grandfather.
However, in reality, she ended up saying, "Sure, grandpa. But only for a short period of time."
God gave a nod. He held his hands behind his back and then began to slowly pace forth deep into that garden.
Ariel also followed behind her grandfather like an obedient child.
The two of them were ignoring the incident with Michael as if it hadn't happened at all. They didn't want to talk about that incident and ruin their mood.
However, Ariel ended up ruining the mood anyway. She turned her gaze away from a herd of deer that were grazing at the far end of the garden and looked at her grandfather's face with an intention of asking something.
"Grandpa, when will grandma be returning?"
There was a hidden meaning behind Ariel's question. She was actually trying to ask when he was going to 'make things right' so that her grandmother would take her physical form again.
God pressed his lips together and gazed into the clear sky as if he would see his wife somewhere there. And he replied to Ariel, "I hope that she will return soon, although the things I did wasn't exactly what she had expected."
Ariel kept on looking at her grandfather's face. "You did something she wouldn't like?" she asked in a rather frightened tone; she was worried for Tobias.
God sighed and nodded his head. "She…" he suddenly furrowed his brows, but almost instantly, the corners of his lips curved up.
He looked into Ariel's amber eyes and said, "I will be right back. Why don't you wait here for a moment?"
Ariel had no other option than to agree. She just hoped that her grandfather wouldn't get lost for an hour or more.
When the almighty disappeared from the garden, Ariel instantly glanced at the majestic nine-tailed fox. She could tell that the beast also knew how majestic it was because it was standing on top of a boulder with its head held high as if it was looking down on all the other puny beings.
Ariel found that smugness on that beast to be so cute that she could barely resist closing the gap between her and that white fox.
For a second, the nine-tailed fox didn't even spare a glance at Ariel. It kept on maintaining its attitude.
However, the moment Ariel stood in front of it with a warm smile on her face and gave a scrub on its chin, all nine of its tails began to move happily. It was clear that it was enjoying the rubs. But rather than acknowledging Ariel, it proudly turned its head away.
"Aww… aren't you happy that I am giving you scratches?" Ariel asked in a baby voice. She ruffled the fluffy fur on its head before taking her hand away thinking that she was disturbing that animal's peace.
But the moment she took her hand away, the fox swung its head to look into her eyes.
Ariel raised her brows a little because she could swear that that beast was narrowing its eyes on her and silently judging her.
"Er… Okay, buddy!" Ariel continued rubbing that fox's head and playfully said, "If you wanted the scratches then just say so. No need to glare at me like that."
God teleported back to the garden. He was amazed seeing how that proud animal was actually allowing Ariel to touch its precious and silky fur.
He came and stood by Ariel's side and said, "I see that you already met Herbert."
"His name is Herbert?" Ariel asked as she felt as though her fingers had melted in that luscious fur of the magnificent beast.
