Chapter 3: Chapter 1. The Weight of Betrayal
The sound of rain hammered the pavement, drowning out the distant hum of the city. Each droplet that struck Hiroki Mori's skin felt like a needle piercing through his numb body. His feet pounded against the wet concrete as he sprinted through the desolate streets, his breaths ragged, his vision blurred by tears and rain. The world around him was a haze of neon lights and reflections on soaked asphalt, but his mind was trapped in a suffocating darkness.
He didn't care where he was going. He just wanted to run—to escape. But he knew there was no running from the agony consuming him. No matter how fast he ran, the truth clung to him like a curse, whispering relentlessly in his mind.
Flashback: His Father's Words
A warm summer evening. The golden glow of the sunset bathed the Mori family's small backyard in light. Hiroki, no older than ten, sat beside his father, whose presence always felt like an unshakable fortress. The man's voice was deep, steady, carrying the weight of a truth Hiroki didn't fully understand then.
"Hiroki," his father said, ruffling his hair. "No matter what happens, you must protect your family. A man's strength isn't just in his fists, but in his heart. Your mother, your sister... they'll need you."
Young Hiroki beamed with pride, puffing out his chest. "I promise, Dad! I'll always be there for them."
His father chuckled, a shadow of sadness flickering in his eyes. "That's my boy."
The memory shattered as reality clawed him back.
The Betrayal
Hiroki stood frozen in front of the computer screen, his fingers trembling. The video played, its audio distorted by his pounding heartbeat. His mother. His sister. And the girl he once thought he loved. The three people he had cherished more than anything. The very people his father had told him to protect.
Their laughter. Their voices. Words dripping with mockery, tearing apart everything he believed in.
"Hiroki? That idiot? Please, he was just convenient." kaneko speak in mocking tone"
You should've seen his face when I told him I loved him. It was pathetic." nao speak in shameless way
"He actually thought we cared about him? Hilarious." kaede speak while having a disgusting face when she talk about her son
His breath caught in his throat. His mind screamed at him to stop watching, but his body refused to move. Each second that passed burned into his soul like molten iron. The last shred of warmth in his heart turned to ice.
His best friend—no, his enemy—grinned in the video, sitting beside Hiroki's bully. The final nail in the coffin. The truth Hiroki had been too blind to see.
They never loved him.
They never even saw him as human.
The Stormy Night
The bridge loomed ahead, its steel frame stretching into the abyss of the storm. Wind howled, slamming against Hiroki's soaked body as he climbed the railing, looking down at the raging river below. The water churned violently, mirroring the chaos in his mind.
His father's voice echoed in his head.
"You must protect your family."
His grip tightened around the cold metal. He had done everything for them. Sacrificed everything. And for what?
The weight of betrayal, of loneliness, crushed his chest. He took a shaky breath, staring into the darkness below. Maybe if he let go, the pain would finally disappear.
Maybe then, he'd be free.
His knees buckled, and he collapsed onto the cold metal of the bridge, his sobs lost in the storm. "I'm sorry, Dad... I failed..." he choked out, his body trembling with grief. "I tried to protect them... but they never needed me. They never cared..."
Tears streamed down his face, mixing with the rain as he clutched his chest, gasping for air between broken cries. His father's words replayed in his mind over and over, stabbing into him like a blade.
"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." he whispered, his voice barely audible against the roaring wind. His hands gripped the railing once more, but now, his body refused to move. He wasn't sure if it was hesitation or exhaustion, but for the first time, he felt the weight of his own existence press down on him.
And in that moment, he truly felt alone.
Lightning split the sky, illuminating the world for a fleeting second. His reflection shimmered in the wet steel of the railing—hollow eyes, a broken soul. He let out a shaking breath and lifted his head, staring at the city beyond. A city filled with strangers, with people who would never know his name or the pain he carried.
A city that would move on without him.
His fingers curled into fists. Was this really the end? Was this truly the only escape left for him?
Another flash of lightning. Another memory.
His father, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "Strength isn't just standing tall, Hiroki. Sometimes, it's surviving even when the world wants you to fall."
Hiroki sucked in a breath, his heart pounding. Maybe... just maybe...
His grip loosened from the railing, his body trembling—not from the cold, but from something else.
Uncertainty. Hope. A flicker of something he thought was long dead.
"hey kid..." a man calling wearing a strange kinda clothes, something like a costom of some game, resting his arms on the railing of the bridge
hiroki turns to him with eyes turns red of a long tears and crying "who... are you?" asked the man in that custom
???: "just a passing by person, what about you? seems you were cryin-..."
"WHY DO YOU CARE?!!!!" he spoke in tone full of anger and sadness"
look kid, i know that face, before you jump yourself down, at least tell me your story, maybe it won't fix anything but at least some weights will be decreased and goes off on your shoulders" the man speak in calm and very polite tone
"it doesn't matter anymore, i lost everyone... everything that i had... EVERYTHING!!!!!" hiroki's tone start shaking while few more tears goes down his eyes
"i wanna hear it, come on"
"my family... slept with my bully... my mom, my sister, my best friend and even my girlfriend... everyone who i thought they love and care about me... and i couldn't..." hiroki's tone shakes again "i couldn't protect them... i promised to my father that i will protect them... but... BUT I FUCKING FAILED" hiroki breakdown and start crying while his hand gripping his chest
the man was standing there looking at Hiroki while his face was full of madness and anger "if it's that's so? you know what, how about move to my place? i don't want you to be there seeing them shatter your heart and soul more then this" the man slowly take a deep breath before continuing. "and i know that I'm a stranger and you have point to not trust me, and think that I'm a dangerous person, and it depends on you to change or end your life... but one more thing... the reason they betray you because you were weak, and they say: the strong was will always surpass the weak, or they say: the weak one will always die by the hand of strong one, but they never say: the weak one will not always stay weak..."
hiroki was in shock. changing? is it possible to change? to become better? will it really gonna happen, to get stronger? "i... i... but what if they call the cops? i don't want to be there anymore..."
"i know kid, i will handle that part, don't worry, but first thing, go back to your home" the man said to kiroki
"but why?!"
"grab your belongs from your place named house, and return back to me, I'll be waiting here...
"as hiroki heard this, without hesitation, he start running back to his house
"if i miss this, my life will nothing and I'll stay weak" hiroki talked with himself while finally reach his home
as he open it, nobody was home...
"HUH!! seems they went to that black bastard, but it doesn't matter anymore, they are not my problem anymore" hiroki speak in disgusting tone
he went upstairs to his room, pull his backpack and start pack his clothes, his laptop, and some more things
before he leave, he rip a peace of paper and start leaving note
the note:
Keade, Konako, Ayuma and especially Nao, if you are seeing this note, it means I'm dead to all of you, i know what all you did, don't try to look after me or try to talk with me, I'm done with all of you and i won't return so consider me as DEAD!!!!! y'all gonna take the consequences of betraying, Y'ALL GONNA FEEL THE WEIGHT OF BETRAYAL, ALL OF YOU!!!!!
hiroki finished writing while he was holding his anger
"...and with this, my new life begin"
