Sharingan Evolution: Proficiency's Path

Chapter 146: Chapter 146: The Confrontation

One hour later, deep within the forest...

The Shadow Clone of Seimei was moving rapidly through the woods. Suddenly, the faint sound of something cutting through the air reached his ears. With a quick glance behind him, the clone swiftly dodged several kunai flying toward him. He landed on a tree branch, cautiously observing the direction from which the attack came.

Shhh...

Two figures appeared in an instant. They wore black cloaks and masks, unmistakably members of Iwagakure's ANBU unit.

"Iwagakure ANBU?" the clone muttered, his voice deep with suspicion.

Neither of the two responded. Instead, they examined Seimei closely. After a moment, the ANBU leader finally spoke: "Uchiha Seimei, a newly-rising genius of the Uchiha clan, awakened the Three Tomoe Sharingan at eleven years old. What is your objective?"

'So, they've figured out my identity this quickly. The intelligence network of the Five Great Shinobi Villages is indeed formidable,' Seimei thought to himself, growing more wary.

Though he had gained some recognition in Konoha, it was relatively minor due to his efforts to stay low-key. Compared to prodigies like Hatake Kakashi or Uchiha Shisui, who had recently gained fame on the battlefield, Seimei's reputation paled in comparison.

Yet, despite this, Iwagakure had managed to uncover his identity and even some basic information about him within mere hours. This only made Seimei more cautious, realizing the extent of the intelligence capabilities of the major villages.

Various thoughts flashed through Seimei's mind as his Sharingan activated. The two ANBU members, prepared for this, quickly averted their gazes. Seizing the opportunity, Seimei flipped his hand, revealing six shuriken. With a swift motion, he launched them toward the female ANBU member, who was codenamed Suzune.

As the saying goes, "Wound ten fingers or sever one," meaning it's better to focus on one target. Seimei aimed his attack at the weaker of the two.

Sensing the incoming danger, Suzune leaped to the side, attempting to avoid the attack. However, her movements were well within Seimei's calculations.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Two more shuriken flew from Seimei's hand with even greater force, striking two of the original six shuriken mid-flight. Sparks flew as the shuriken clashed, causing all eight shuriken to scatter in different directions, creating a deadly net that aimed to strike Suzune from multiple angles.

Just as Suzune's feet touched the ground, she realized it was too late to dodge. Left with no choice, she pulled out a kunai and deflected the incoming shuriken.

Despite her quick reflexes, two shuriken grazed her shoulders, leaving shallow cuts. Although the injuries were minor, they still managed to slow her down.

Logically, this would have been the perfect time for Seimei to press the attack and capitalize on his advantage. However, he refrained from doing so. Not because he didn't want to, but because he couldn't.

At the same moment Seimei had launched his attack, the ANBU leader had retaliated.

Swish swish swish!

Several kunai flew toward Seimei, their trajectory revealing the explosive tags tied to their handles. Without hesitation, Seimei abandoned his position, dodging the attack just as an explosion rocked the forest.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The explosions sent flames dancing in the night, momentarily illuminating the darkness. As Seimei landed, the ANBU leader and Suzune reappeared, flanking him from both sides.

Clearly, they knew how to deal with the Sharingan.

"Attack!" the ANBU leader commanded.

Suzune immediately formed hand seals at an incredible speed. Her mouth opened, and she unleashed a piercing soundwave that directly targeted Seimei's brain, causing him to falter. His balance wavered under the assault.

Seeing an opening, the ANBU leader rushed forward, aiming his kunai at Seimei's heart.

Luckily, Seimei's Sharingan was active, and with all his focus, he perceived the attack at a pace that seemed painfully slow to him. Fighting through the disorienting effects of Suzune's soundwave, he managed to dodge the strike just in time. He quickly retaliated, hurling a kunai directly at Suzune, forcing her to stop her jutsu.

Seimei moved in for a follow-up attack, but the ANBU leader blocked his advance, engaging him in close combat. The sounds of clashing kunai rang through the forest, as sparks flew with each strike.

The ANBU leader's skills were impressive. As a seasoned jonin, his abilities were well-rounded. Even with his vision partially obstructed, he managed to hold his own against Seimei's relentless offense. Meanwhile, Suzune continued her support role, unleashing soundwave jutsu that disrupted Seimei's movements at key moments.

Seimei attempted several counterattacks, but each time, his efforts were either hindered by Suzune's interference or stifled by the ANBU leader's precise strikes.

The entire battle left Seimei feeling constricted, unable to fully unleash his power. It was clear that his clone was at a disadvantage—primarily due to the clone's inherent fragility.

Had this been Seimei's real body, the fight would have gone very differently. Despite the ANBU members being elite fighters handpicked to counter him, Seimei was confident they wouldn't have had the upper hand for this long.

The limitations of the Shadow Clone technique restricted how much strength he could exert in this fight.

The battle raged on, but as time passed, Seimei's clone began to gather vital intel on his opponents.

First, Suzune appeared to be no more than a Tokubetsu Jonin, with average taijutsu skills. Her main weapon was her sound-based ninjutsu. Though it had caused significant trouble for the clone at the start, now that he had experienced it firsthand, Seimei would be better prepared to handle such attacks in the future.

Second, the ANBU leader was undoubtedly strong. His combat prowess surpassed Seimei's current mastery of swordsmanship at level 5. It took all of Seimei's concentration, along with his Sharingan's ability to predict movements, to keep up with him.

Moreover, the ANBU leader possessed a powerful defensive earth-style jutsu. At the moment of impact, he could harden his skin, making it resistant to even the sharpest weapons. Unless Seimei mastered wind chakra to enhance the cutting power of his blade, breaking through that defense would prove difficult.

Alternatively, Seimei could try to use the Sharingan to briefly disrupt the leader's movements, forcing him to make a fatal mistake.

Either way, it wouldn't be easy.

It was clear that this Iwagakure ANBU captain was no ordinary jonin. Whether he had reached the elite jonin level, Seimei couldn't say for sure.

For one, Seimei had never fought an elite jonin before, so he couldn't accurately gauge their strength. Additionally, he didn't know whether the captain was holding back any abilities.

As a jonin, he should have mastered at least two chakra natures. But apart from earth-style techniques, the ANBU leader hadn't used any other elemental jutsu.
