Shadowhunter in the Apocalypse

Reed took one step into the house and instantly knew someone was in there, it was advanced shadow magic: shadow sensing, the ability to locate living shadows in your region.

It was one of the applications of magic he was granted a bit later in life but that was for another time.

"How did you know I was back." he said flatly.

A low chuckle rolled out from the dark, and then out came a girl that belonged on the cover of a porn magazine. Hourglass shape, perky boobs that defied gravity and an ass that seemed to ripple as she walked, she was the definition of temptation itself.

And why wouldn't she? She had succubus blood in her veins after all, A powerful witch.

"You make it sound like I'm some scary stalker, Reed."

Her sugar sweet voice sent euphoria down his veins, reminding him the reason he hadn't been satisfied with girls in LA or the one night stands he had all over the world on missions.

He walked towards her automatically, his body craved to be reminded of her once again

"I've missed you Raven, now before you get angry I can ex-."

"Angry?" she tilted her head interrupting him, her black hair falling wild over one of her cat like eyes. "You vanish without a word, you don't even leave me a letter or a text, why on earth would I be angry? It's not like I was the one that helped you figure out you weren't really a shadow hunter."

"Raven" He said softly,

"It's not like I was the one that thought you alternative ways to use your shadow magic!"

"Please just listen to me."

"Why should i?!" She spat out "After five years, why should I listen to you when I was the one that had to hear from other sources that you were back in town?"

"Because I was being monitored Raven" He finally confessed,

"What?" She looked at him confused. "Who was monitoring you?"

"Who else could? the house of black somehow found out I was seeing or at least I had a connection with one of the daughters of Lilith, how did you think they reacted?"

"They knew about me?" Raven froze "That's impossible"

Reed shook his head. "No, they only suspected, but they didn't really know which daughter I was in contact with."

Her lips parted, "Reed… you do realize that if the House knew it was me—"

"I'd already be dead, and you would already be captured" he cut in, voice flat. "I know, trust me, I know. If it wasn't for my little 'special status' as one of their S class, they would've probably put me in a grave and left it unmarked based on that suspicion alone."

It would be poetic justice too; he had sometimes been the one on the other side of that scenario.

Raven took a step closer, "So that's why they dragged you to Los Angeles. Not to reward you but to cage you where they could watch you?"

"Congratulations, you've solved the riddle." He gave a humorless laugh. "The worst part was having to smile through all the congratulations I was being told."

Her eyes narrowed nervously. "And you came back here anyway? Knowing I was still in New York? Do you have a death wish, or are you trying to drag me down with you?"

"I came back because this is still my home and I was assigned a mission" Reed's gaze softened, "And also because no matter how much trouble you cause, you've always been the one thing I couldn't get enough of"

For a heartbeat she didn't say anything.

She really wanted to be angry at him, he was up and gone for five whole years without any message, but then he had protected her through all of that, they didn't mention it but with his status he would have probably been forgiven if he twisted the story a bit and said he was luring her into a trap or something and planned to capture her.

It didn't even need to be a good excuse, as long as he gave her up to them, he would be praised as a hero.

She was busy with her thoughts when Reed stepped into her personal space, his mouth finding her neck.

"Fuck you! You think I'm that fucking easy huh?" Raven shoved at his chest, breath sharp. " You think you can disappear for five years and all it takes is a few kisses?"
