Hey everyone!
I'm so excited today to be talking to you about my new story, Alchemist of the Wilds.
After finishing both The Twelve Apocalypses and Shadow Runner, I played around with a couple of different ideas. For the most part, I was pretty excited about an idea about Greek mythology crossed with Atlantis. There are Divine Houses based on each of the Olympian Gods. Our MC is sent here, and people believe he's the hero for Hades. He's uplifted to the head of a brand-new Divine House while struggling with the language, strange new people, and their society in general. And, of course, he KNOWS the city ends up destroyed.
Okay, that's enough for now. I even wrote the first 30k words of it.
Still, something didn't quite click with Atlantis. I couldn't find the right motivation to work on it. That's when my editor suggested a change of pace with a cozy fantasy story.
That was four weeks ago. Today, I'm launching Alchemist of the Wilds. It's a cozy fantasy where the main character is running away from his "duty" and finds a new home at the frontier of the world. In some ways, Lianthorn's story is like most of us today. We spend years learning and training for something without ever being asked if it's what we want to do. At a certain point, it can be daunting to go away from this predetermined path. But like Lianthorn, I hope that we can all find somewhere that we fit in and belong. Where we can do something that we truly enjoy.
