Chapter 55: Virtual Test 5
But there was another thing, the large laceration he had on the left side of his back and his morphed face spoke of the pain and anguish he was currently feeling.
"You....you'll pay for this" the beast turned human snarled at Adam.
"Judging from how you're not turning into motes of light, it seems even in the real world tearing off your wings is only enough to incapacitate you" Adam spoke mostly to himself.
"Do you know who I am? I'll make your life hell in the real world, just you.....puk" he stopped talking mid sentence as he choked on his blood. The last thing he heard was "I have no time for your nonsense".
Adam removed his hand from the boy's chest as the boy dissolved into motes of light. From the start to finish, the fight had not taken more than two minutes.
Meanwhile Adam was contemplating the energy he lost during the fight, it took him forty percent of his energy, normally his energy in percentage regenerates at '0.8' percent per minute. So for forty percent of energy he'll be able to regenerate to his peak in approximately thirty three minutes or so.
Adam was about to continue on his way when he noticed dusk fast approaching, so he decided to camp in the forest for the time being even though he knew that most would prefer the night to hunt. Now to look for a place to rest, he thought about tree tops but quickly threw that idea out of his mind, the reason? He might fall asleep only to find himself waking up from the pod.
The body in the virtual world acted exactly like a real body, it feels tiredness and exhaustion as well as hunger, so he bought out some fruits he picked on the way and began eating. After he was done, he found a searched for a cave in the forest or anything that could act as one.
Luckily he found one, but it wasn't a cave, it was just a small depression large enough to fit at least three humans on a hillside. "Well beggars cannot be choosers" he muttered and began packing some large leaves to make a makeshift bed, after that, he pushed himself inside the 'cave'.
"Huh, this is gonna cost a lot of energy" he sighed before he placed his hands on the two sides of the cave and activated 'materiokinetic warping', as soon as he activated it, the earthen walls began to move and flow like waves to the opening until the opening eventually closed leaving only a fist sized hole for air to pass in and out.
"Whew, that took some absurd amount of energy" he exhaled as he wiped the sweat on his forehead, this action took him eighty percent of his overall reserves of energy but it was worth it, at least he won't be taken out instantly while sleeping. He knew he didn't have to sleep and silver ranked holders could go on for a weak without sleep but that's when they're not under any stress.
But in this test everyone is constantly fighting, and even if they're not, they're constantly on edge, knowing they could be attacked at any time, eventually building up stress over time, so it's better to sleep to reduce the stress and what's even better was to sleep while having peace of mind. With that he went to sleep.
He didn't wake up until the next morning, "looks like no one stumbled upon this place" he groaned. Getting himself ready, he activated bloodline reinforcement and punched at a specific spot making the earth wall he created the night before crumble.
He stepped outside and cautiously took in his surroundings, when he didn't notice anything, he haved a sigh and turned but just as he turned, Shiiiinng! He instantly bent his torso in an unnatural way.
He got back up to a straight posture thinking 'fast, no invisible and even my gravity sensing isn't picking on anything, had it not been for the refraction of light rays, I wouldn't even notice how I died' he thought grimly, though his face still had a calm expression.
"Well I'll be damned" he murmured to himself before he spoke out "since you're in hiding what do you say we play a little game of crushing?" He said as he activated his crushing thirty meters in all directions, even the trees creeked from the compressed gravity.
"Ah there you are" he said noticing a human shaped depression on the ground. He slowly walked towards the depression while increasing the gravity around that particular area. Soon he heard a groaning voice before a girl appeared like a phantom filling the depression. "Looks like your time is over" he said to the girl who was furiously glaring at him.
He simply made a spiky construct on his fist and punched at her head, soon she turned into motes of light and disappeared. "Time to look for more preys" he said before bursting forward.
Meanwhile at the monitoring room with the instructors, "everyone look at hologram
No. 128" said an instructor the moment Adam burst through his makeshift wall.
"How did he even do that? Does his bloodline have to do with earth manipulation?" asked an instructor.
"Hey he's being attacked" Justin snickered and the instructors proceeded to watch his fight with the invisible girl to the end.
"Good battle instincts, the boy I mean, who is his homeroom teacher though?" asked justin.
"He's in my class" replied miss Evelyn.
"What good battle instincts, he was just lucky because of his bloodline's natural advantage" snorted Gwen.
"Didn't he use earth before though?" asked another instructor. "How are you sure, he used earth manipulation? We only saw him bursting out of it, not when it was created" said another instructor.
Meanwhile "I don't know, his file only has one bloodline listed which is gravity manipulation" Ms Evelyn said as she shook her head.
"That aside, who is that idiot? asked one of the instructors gesturing to a certain hologram". "He's the scion of the Hargreaves family" said Ms Evelyn while facepalming.
