Shackles Of Reality

Chapter 51: Virtual Test 1

Then we started, "3", we both said and our aura spread out like a tide, "2", and this time I used bloodline reinforcement, "1", I started to lower my gravity but still stayed on the ground and "0", we both blasted off with immense speed.

Well long story short, I lost, pathetically at that. Though I expected it, it still feels bad especially seeing his smug face. Owen is undoubtedly stronger than me, I know that fact, I mean he's a genius of the highest caliber in the human federation.

Hell I don't think I'll be able to beat him even if I breakthrough to peak silver rank, but gold rank? The same rank as him? I'll kick his ass like no other, if he hasn't reached mid gold rank before then that is.

That aside he's in gold rank, the rank where one is able to fly naturally, meanwhile I have to do a series of actions and control.

"How does it feel?" I asked.

"If you're talking about how I felt about beating you then," he said pausing for dramatic effects before he shouted; "it felt awaizing".

"Not that, the flying I mean, how does it feel?" I clarified. "Is it that your energy envelopes you, lifting and aiding you to fly or something?"

"Noooo" he dragged. "How do I put this? You see when I broke into gold rank, I felt myself being able to do stuff I couldn't do before and as for flying, you know how walking and breathing feel normal normal? That's how flying is, I felt like I've always been able to do it just like walking and breathing".

"Hmmm pretty cryptic overall but I more or less get the gist of it, I guess I'll only truly understand it when I eventually reach gold rank" I said.

Speaking of gold rank, I don't have a lot on my to-do list, in which getting stronger takes the first place, being more versatile by creating more bloodline abilities from my gravity bloodline and last but not least, training my other bloodline and try to see if I could gain another ability.

One of the biggest problems I'm facing in generating a bloodline ability from my second bloodline is that I still don't know what it actually is and I don't trust anyone enough to ask about it.

Call me paranoid, but still I'm not a fool, from the signs, I could tell my bloodline wasn't the normal run of the mill type, whether it was healing me to the peak from an inch of my life to the Materiokinetic warping. So to trust people I've barely known for a month with my secret is a fools errand.

"Hey, the hell you're zoning out for" Owen said shaking my arm.

"Ummm nothing, anyway see you later chatterbox" I said.

"Right android" he replied making me look at him with a look that said 'where's this going'.

"Get it?, Because your eyes and voice sound emotionless like that of a robot" he tried to explain.

'oh so that's where he got the name' I thought. "It still doesn't make sense though" I scoffed. (He thinks he scoffed but it's actually still his emotionless voice sounding out).

"You know it does, you're just jealous cause I beat you today" he countered. "Anything that works in that little brain of yours" I said before walking towards the dorm building.

The ride on the elevator was silent until I eventually entered my room.

"This training nonstop is getting on my psyche and also momotous" I mused as I dived down on the couch. "Ahhh" I sighed but I still got up to change my uniform and then headed out. Not long after I arrived at the crystal lake and started my training, particularly on the gravity shield, trying to make it completely invisible and also to be able to form them with a thought.

Time passed unooticed and before I knew it, it was already thursday, the day we're having the mock test. After coming back from my training with instructor Blake, I took a bath and headed to the portal station.

Once I got to the auditorium, it was completely quiet, why you may ask, beacause there was no one there as it was just ten minutes past seven am.

I went to my usual seat at the back of the class. It wasn't until ten minutes later that the double doors swung open again and a familiar person came through. We held each other's gaze for a few moments but shared no words before she averted her eyes and took her seat. It was quiet for a after she came but as other cadets started arriving, the class started to get noisy until it eventually gave way to full blown commotion.

"Make some noise for your boy" Owen shouted coming in. 'I guess everyone's excited about the mock test' I thought as most people cheered for Owen.

"Would you guys shut up" it wasn't until emo dude growled that almost everyone shut up with almost being the keyword, Owen instead just casually said; "come on Damien, they're just excited about the upcoming mock test".

"Of course someone as unserious as you would be part of this whole thing" emo dude said. " Tsk, you're no fun" Owen said waving his arm as he made his way towards me. "What about you?

"What about me? I asked.

"Aren't you excited about the test?" he asked.

"No"

"Come on not you too" he grumbled.

He continued talking for a while but as usual I tuned him out until Ms Evelyn came in. She simply greeted the class before telling us to follow her.

We followed her to the portal station where she set the coordinates and soon we all arrived at a massive hall. "Everyone, the mock test you're going to take today will be in the virtual simulation. For those of you who are familiar with it good for you and for those who are not, you're on your own" Ms Evelyn explained.

After that she lead us to another room that had the same pods as the ones in the virtual room. "Everyone enter the pod with your number on it" she said. "But we haven't been told what the test will be about" said a cadet. "Yeah and where are the other cadets of the first year" said another.
