Chapter 4: Cultivation Steps
Looking at the seal before him, Eldred couldn't help but wonder about the book's point in the middle; he found it somehow strange or out of place.
In ancient books written tens of thousands of years ago on this continent, the seal was described as one created by arcane mages using compressed threads of magic to form a spider net, and an old tattered black book was never mentioned.
'Is this some form of protection the cave used to protect the space crack from getting destroyed or even threatened?' Eldred didn't have guesses except that one.
If the cave didn't alter the seal to protect its space crack or even the cave itself from destruction, then Eldred knew he had no way of deducing the real reason behind such an old, tattered book.
"Anyway..." Eldred said as he sat down cross-legged, slowly moving his right hand to the seal and placing his palm on it.
From the memories he received, the seal isn't dangerous as long as no one attacks it from the inside; hence, placing one's palm on it is safe and could be regarded as harmless.
After a few minutes, a smirk appeared on Eldred's young face as he slowly retracted his hands," Such a seal is truly formidable. Anyone below the grandmaster level would have a hard time breaking it, but compared to that damnable beast king traps and various annoying techniques, this is merely childish plays. Still, first, I need to start cultivating."
Eldred wasn't worried about the seal since the guards watching outside were ready to get him out whenever he asked for it; he only checked the seal's strength out of habit.
He also knew that without a cultivation base, his life would depend on other people, and he would have no say whatsoever in the places he could go or not. He would even face danger, given his identity and the fact that the former body's owner wasn't talented.
Hence, Eldred found it necessary to acquire some power before he left the cave.
Only...
'Ah damn it, this is indeed what I feared,' Eldred cursed inwardly the moment he entered meditation,' I can only start cultivating if I go through the magic awakening first.'
-_-
From his experience, Eldred knew how to cultivate since the basics between qi and magic weren't any different in terms of cultivation; only the concepts and details were totally different.
The activation of Qi, or in this case, Magic consisted of only three very simple steps:
Step 1- Meditation
Step 2- Control
Step 3- Activation
Meditation, just as the name implies, requires one to use their fullest attention to concentrate.
When a person closes their eyes, their mind constantly wanders into different scenes.
However, if one were to empty one's mind and remain in an undisturbed state, one's mind would become an empty space!
After their magic awakening, a star cluster corresponding to the Element they have would emerge within that empty world.
In other words, as long as Eldred closed his eyes and didn't think about anything while allowing his mind to enter a dark, cosmos like space, then the star cluster of his attribute would emerge within the empty space.
Alas, since he didn't go through the magic awakening, all he could see was the dark place, and he had no way whatsoever to jump into the second and third steps.
'Seems like I'll have to head to an adventure association as fast as possible to awaken my element and start cultivating,' Eldred thought, a bit unwilling.
Although this body was merely 14 years old, he felt that his siblings and side branches of his family wouldn't stop till they killed him in case he returned with a unique skill from the cave or he truly found a backer or even increased his talent there.
His position as the heir was already threatening enough before he was found out that he had no talent for magic, much less if he became a genius out of the blue.
'I have read many such novels; there is no way this kid will be returning alive to his region, much less family headquarters.' Eldred slightly frowned,' If only I could use a bit of my qi, then I would be able to activate a few of my techniques to escape in case an emergency occurs.'

"Sera, what do you think young master is doing inside?" A middle-aged man the age of fifty wearing a black robe with hair flowing down his back asked the young beautiful woman next to him, his gaze fixated on the kid sitting cross-legged inside the cave.
Sera has clear eyes and prominent eyelashes, is clad in black armor, and has fair hair reaching her neck, which is held in place by a hairband. As a Knight of the Arnold Family, despite Eldred getting kicked out of the family, Sera was still ordered to accompany and protect him till the opening ceremony of the academy ended.
Hearing the question, Sera rolled her eyes as she answered with a yawn," This doesn't take a genius to realize; he is simply clinging to the last bit of hope in his life to get stronger and get recognition, which is why he will wait there for an otherworldly person for at least two weeks!"
Although her words sounded lazy due to her sleepiness, they sounded so valid that the middle-aged man called Han had no way to refute her words but instead gave a side glance at the mages under the various trees gathering around a bonfire happily conversing and eating, not caring in the slightest about the safety of Eldred.
'I know that an otherworldly being had just showed up a year ago and there will only be a next one showing after two years, but this is still too disrespectful towards Eldred, despite his non-existent talent for magic, he is still the heir of the Arnold Knight Family till the magic awakening ends.' Rage was displayed on Han's face as he took the images of the mages guarding the cave, but didn't speak up given their lord's identity.
On the other side, Sera noticed his reaction with half an eye open, but could only sigh and look away,' I have also went through those emotions before old man, but I got used to it, Eldred is simply pathetic and useless and he will never be the true heir nor future lord of our household.'
