Chapter 230: House Arrest
The moment I stepped inside, an air of tense chaos hit me straight in the face. The entire family looked like it was in shambles, and my father looked like he had aged by ten years.
News of Christian's efforts last night must have finally made their way over.
I put on a pitiful expression and slowly walked over to the living room. My eyes remained downcast, and I walked in as if I had been defeated.
"Oh. Look who's back. I was certain you wouldn't come back until the evening," Morgan smirked. Her eyes immediately landed on the love marks Christian left all over my body, causing her to break out into a big smile.
"You seem to have had a good time. Congratulations on becoming a woman," she laughed condescendingly.
I ignored her and looked up at my parents. They were sitting in their usual spot on the couch. My mother's hand, gently rubbing my father's back in an attempt to comfort him.
"Mother...Father..." I finally said, after realizing they had no intention of greeting me first.
"Where's Karl? I've been trying to reach him all day."
His words were straight to business. There was no 'how are you' or 'are you okay'. Not even a hint of a smile to see that I made it home okay, only a set of piercing eyes that looked at me with a subtle anger.
"I don't know. He was at the hotel..." I said, pretending to be devastated.
In fact, I was still hurting from the fact that they would do something like that to me in the first place, so it didn't take too much effort to put on the act.
My father slammed his hand on the coffee table in front of him. The noise from the sudden slap was loud, but I didn't flinch.
I stood in front of them, silently waiting for at least one of them to ask me about my night.
My mother's eyes continued to scan me up and down. The longer she looked, the deeper her frown became.
"I hope no one saw you leaving the hotel this morning," she said with obvious displeasure.
My eyes darkened. I couldn't stand it anymore.
"You knew what was waiting for me at the hotel. You KNEW that I was going to get drugged and taken advantage of! I just want to know why! Why would you let your own daughter suffer through that?!"
All of my pent-up emotions burst out all at once. Tears began to streak down my face, but I felt more anger than sadness. I didn't believe that any parent would be willing to do that to their own flesh and blood.
My father suddenly stood up and slapped me across the face.
"HOW DARE YOU?" he yelled furiously. "What you did at the hotel is your own business! Now that you've been ruined, you'd better pray that Karl doesn't kick you to the curb!"
This time, I didn't hold back and looked straight into his eyes.
"You knew. You knew what he would do to me. You knew that he would drug me!"
The sting from the slap still hurt, but I didn't cower like before. I knew that no matter what, Christian would protect me.
"INSOLENT! Your entire existence is for this family! You should be willing to do anything for it!" he screamed. "Someone, lock her in her room! She's not to come out until Morgan's wedding!"
His entire face was red, and he was heaving from sheer anger. A group of servants walked over towards me carefully, scared to take a side.
I rubbed my cheek and glared at him.
Just wait until the wedding day.
"Don't touch me. I can walk to my room myself!" I said, and turned to leave the room.
Behind me, I could hear my father kicking the coffee table over and Morgan running over to my mother's side. "Mom! I decided that I want pink and green as my wedding colors! Also, is my dress going to be ready in time?"
"I think you should pick one color, sweetie. Two will be too much. And yes, your dress will be done in a few days," my mother replied.
Straightening my back, I walked out of earshot. They were never a family; I wouldn't miss them.
-
I sprawled out on my bed and glanced towards my door. There was someone standing watch outside my bedroom at all times.
Guess father wasn't kidding about being locked in my room.
It didn't matter to me. In fact, this was the best I've ever felt living in this house. No one bothered me, and my food was delivered here directly. I was lying comfortably on my bed in an oversized t-shirt and a pair of shorts.
After arriving, the first thing I did was take a long bath and apply some cream to my cheeks.
I rolled over on my bed and picked up my shiny new phone. Christian gave it to me at the best possible time, so now I could relieve some boredom by texting him.
<Hey!>
I hit send, sending my first-ever text message to Christian.
<How is everything? Are you okay? Should I come get you?>
My lips curved up into a smile. His instant reply was filled with concern.
<No worries! Everything is fine. My father placed me on room arrest, but it's kind of nice.>
<I'm coming to get you.>
"Hahah!" I giggled out loud. My heart warmed from his protectiveness. It felt very nice.
<Christian! I'm fine, I promise!>
I quickly replied before he came bulldozing into the mansion like a madman.
<Fine. But you're coming home with me the day of the wedding. Non-negotiable.>
<Yes, yes! I promise... *kisses*>
There was a slight pause as Christian didn't reply right away. I rolled around on my bed a few more times, holding the small phone in my hands.
A minute later, the screen lit up.
<I miss you.>
Something stirred inside of me. I had already typed out 'I miss you too,' but decided to delete it because another idea popped into my head.
I sat up and pulled my shirt off, bringing my breasts into full view. I pressed a few buttons on the phone and turned on the camera.
Lying down, I pointed the camera over me and snapped a photo.
"Not bad," I said, looking at the sexy photo. It was just the upper half of my body, but the way my hair cascaded down my shoulders was quite nice.
With a small giggle, I sent it over to Christian with a caption reading 'I miss you too' beneath.
