Chapter 3: Lonely Man with Gentle Behavior
Carla nodded resignedly. Even though her gaze looked straight at Henry, somehow there was doubt in Carla's eyes. Carla looked at Henry with a doubtful gaze.
Carla's doubts arose because she was not sure if she could return to the ocean where she lived. Carla couldn't even imagine not being able to return to where she lived. She couldn't afford to lose her mermaid group.
“At least I have to take the gemstones that pirates have taken from our seas. I really hope to be able to go back there to see the condition of the lagoon and where we live,” Carla said, she told Henry about her intentions.
“The magic stone they stole? But why would the pirates take what doesn't belong to them,” Henry said, he was confused by Carla's words.
“Moonstone used to control the ocean. That way, they will be fine exploring the ocean,” Carla said, her voice sounding very confident this time.
“Oh, I see. But wouldn't it be dangerous if the magic stone is not for them? The pirates have stolen what belongs to the mermaids,” Henry said, he explained what was in his mind.
“Yes, moonstone will cause harm if used for bad purposes. The damage to the moonstone will make the mermaid kingdom disappear,” said Carla, she narrowed her eyes when she said those words.
“How terrible. I can't imagine if the kingdom where you live is vanish,” Henry said, he showed his concern for Carla.
Carla heard Henry's words, she finally closed her mouth. Her eyes were now lowered, her head bowed languidly. Carla herself couldn't imagine what it would be like if the mermaid kingdom she was always proud of would fade. Of course the life of mermaids and other aquatic creatures under the sea will be bleak.
Henry saw the anxiety in Carla's heart. Those blue eyes that exuded a withering twinkle were clearly visible at this time. It seemed that Carla was sad. Henry doesn't feel happy for the sadness Carla feels, but to help Carla's problem may require appropriate means.
“Yes, for now there's no point in bothering yourself like this. You'd better calm down and come up with a better plan to return to the ocean,” Henry said, his voice softer this time.
Carla heard Henry's words and immediately straightened her face. Her blue eyes fell back on Henry. Carla could clearly see the sincere smile on Henry's lips.
“Instead of being sad, you better drink the orange juice that I made for you,” Henry said, he offered Carla a glass of orange juice that he had prepared earlier.
Carla's gaze then turned to a glass of orange drink. Carla frowned, she felt unfamiliar with the drink in front of her. Carla's feelings were filled with surprise. Turning her gaze to Henry, Carla pointed to the drink in front of her.
“What kind of drink is this? I've never seen a drink with such an attractive color like this,” Carla said, she questioned the type of drink that felt strange to her.
“A drink made from natural orange juice to produce a fresh taste in the throat when thirsty,” Henry said, he explained that with a little feeling of pride in his heart.
“I'm not sure about drinking it. Will I be able to accept the taste of a drink I never knew before,” Carla said, she doubted the safety of the drink in front of her.
“You just drink. The taste tends to be sweet and sour. If there's anything wrong with you, I can take you to the doctor for a check-up,” Henry said, he spoke the words easily.
“There's no good outcome to going to a human doctor in the condition that I'm a mermaid. What's possible is that people knows if I'm a different creature,” Carla said, she didn't believe Henry's words.
“Up to you. I'm just being nice to you. Normally I wouldn't care about strangers, especially women I've just met,” Henry said, he turned his face away.
While Carla took a glass of orange juice in her hand, Henry was distracted. In Henry's eyes, he could clearly see the twilight that was starting to appear. The sun began to set, its rays began to recede revealing the last traces of visible light glowing yellow.
“Look! Dusk has passed, night has come. If you don't want to drink the juice, no problem. I will do other activities,” Henry said, he then looked back at Carla.
But what surprised Henry was that the orange juice he gave Carla was finished in one glass. Henry then looked at Carla in surprise.
“Why did you spend it? You said you didn't want to,” Henry said, his voice sounding annoyed this time.
“Yes, I feel interested. So I decided to drink what you gave me,” said Carla briefly.
“I told you drinking this juice won't make you sick. Never mind, I want to clean my body first. I haven't showered for half the day,” said Henry, he then stood up.
Henry put the empty glass back in the sink to be washed later. When Henry was about to walk towards the stairs, Carla started to feel confused.
“Where are you going?” Carla said to Henry.
Henry stopped in his tracks, he turned his attention to Carla who was still sitting on the wooden chair. With a tired face, Henry answered the question Carla asked.
“I'm going upstairs. Want to take a shower and then sleep. Why?” Henry said, he was trying to give a simple answer to Carla's question.
“So what do I do? Should I be here guarding your house all night, or is there something else I can do?” Carla asked, in a voice that sounded harsh to Henry.
Henry held his head. Somehow helping Carla, who is a mermaid, makes things even more complicated. Henry sighed, then turned his gaze to Carla once again.
“Come upstairs with me. There is a sofa bed in front of the television that you can use to sleep,” Henry said, he was trying to give Carla another way.
“Well, I agree. I'll come with you,” Carla said.
After saying that, Carla immediately stood up. He walked after Henry and climbed the stairs together. Carla walked behind Henry, while the man with a lonely heart stepped in front of her.
