Saquin: Death To My Enemies

Chapter 9: Minus one problem

"XP? What's that?" Relia asked, her tone genuinely curious.

"Nothing important, princess," Saquin replied, wearing a polite smile.

"Hmmm, okay. But why am I not this 'XP' thing?" Relia asked, glancing around the clearing—to the dragon, then to the flashes of silver and explosions in the distance, back to Saquin. "I'm the strongest one here, so why don't I count as XP?"

Saquin's expression faltered slightly. "That's... not quite it."

Relia seemed to come to her own conclusion, her face lighting up with a smug smile. "So, XP means the people you plan to assassinate."

"Erm, yeah," Saquin replied, caught off guard by her confidence.

Isn't she supposed to be a princess? Why does she act like this? Saquin thought, reaching out to Mythic mentally.

[ Like what? ]

Like a dumbass.

[ That is rude, host, but also true. I think she is doing it on purpose, be careful Host, she is probably plotting something. ]

Yea, I guess.

The dragon, piecing things together from their conversation, realized Saquin was a third party. Seizing the moment, it lunged at him, aiming to gauge his strength.

Whoosh! Saquin leapt back just as the dragon's tail lashed past him, missing by a hair's breadth.

The dragon, detecting Saquin's level at 7 but sensing he was slightly weaker than its primary opponent, decided to eliminate him first.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Saquin dodged each blow, retreating toward the foliage.

Relia, watching closely, concluded he wasn't hiding any strength. She raised her revolver, took aim, and just as she was about to pull the trigger, Saquin turned, tossing the unconscious Risha directly at her, blocking her shot.

This, however, came with a price.

The dragon, seeing Saquin's momentary distraction, attacked with full force.

Slice!

As Saquin hurled Risha, the dragon's claws raked across his chest, sending him hurtling through several trees.

Sniff. Sniff.

The dragon, distracted by the scent of blood on its claws, suddenly caught a whiff that was all too familiar. Its gaze locked onto Saquin with a crazed, delighted look. "Vampire."

The word froze the battlefield. Sir Bret and Ryan halted their deadly dance, both staring at Saquin, who was already standing, his chest wounds healing almost instantly. Or rather, they stared at a fully healed Saquin, as his injuries knitted back together almost immediately.

"That's impossible!" Ryan exclaimed, eyes wide as he recognized Saquin, despite his altered appearance. He can't be a vampire; I saw him in daylight!

"How do you expl—" Ryan cut himself off, instinctively snapping his attention back to his opponent. Years of training screamed in his head: Never let your guard down.

Sensing SP movement, he focused, catching Sir Bret mid-launch.

Acting immediately he concentrated his SP sense in the direction of Sir Bret, knowing full well that turning to look was slower.

In his SP sense, he noticed Sir Bret launching himself at him.

I knew it, mind training wasn't a waste, he thought as he concentrated his full SP on his broadsword, hoping to take his enemy by suprise and end it in one go. But,

Huh? He's saying something? The sound had not reached him, but he could tell what it was by reading his lips, watch out?

Watch out? Shit! By the time he fully processed it as a warning it was too late, as a hand ripped through his chest, bringing out with it, his heart. Another hand dug into his neck, he could feel it draining his remaining vitality.

A couple minutes ago.

Saquin finished talking to Mythic about his situation as a Primal vampire–Higher human.

He checked his status and saw something quite surprising.

[

Level: Lvl 3(60/300XP) -- temporarily elevated to Lvl 7(0/700)

]

"Wow, that's actually awesome and quite a surprise too. I thought I would have to go on a killing spree in the Brimar forest before going on to the center area." Saquin said with the smile on his face growing wider. "So Mythic, how does this work?"

[ I do not know specifically how the red moon boosts your powers, and it gets harder to pin down since you are a primal but I do know that it elevates you to level 7, no more, no less.]

"You are saying, even if my original level reaches level 4, I would still stay at level 7?"

[ Yes Host. ]

"What about my unique powers?"

[ They stay at the same level. ]

"Expected."

[ You should look further down. ]

"Oh?"

[

"Hmmm... Nice." Saquin said as his smile turned into a smirk.

A couple of moments later.

Saquin stood a top the dead bodies of the pursuit team.

Ten level tens, they really did not take any chances with me. Saquin thought, then looked at his level.

[

Level: Lvl 4 (120/400) --- Lvl 7 (0/700)

]

"Now, let's go kill that silver dude."

A few moments ago.

Saquin stood a top a tree a long distance away, and watched as they all paused at mention of his doppelganger being a vampire.

Ryan got agitated, but that and distracted for a few moments but that wasn't exactly what Saquin was waiting for. He was aiming at the moment he recovers.

So Saquin connected to Ryan shadow first. Ryan opponent seems to notice the SP disturbance that came with it as he wasn't as distracted but that's also part of his expectations.

And just as expected, Ryan, a veteran commander of the county troops recovered almost immediately and just as expected again launched his full focus at his opponent.

Saquin emerged from his shadow casted by the red moon glow.

Ryan as an advanced human, is extremely hard to kill but–

Saquin left hand forcefully pierced through Ryan unprotected chest, while his right hand claws dug into his neck as he performed blood drain.

Feeling Ryan SP about to fight back, his right hand dug into Ryan's neck and ripped it out with his head, flooded it with his blue SP,while also throwing it into the sky in the process. The head exploded out of SP clashes mid–air.

His left hand crushed the heart in its fist and in the process of withdrawing his hands, imploded Ryan body wirh SP, also blowing it apart.

[ Higher level kill – 3 levels up – +150XP ]

"A small price to pay for the XP gotten" Saquin smirked as a blazing fist hit him in the face,

Boom!

The resulting explosion throwing him into the forest with a burnt smirking face.
