Saint Seiya: The Multiverse Libra Gold Saint

Chapter 63: SS 63: Stirrings in the North and the Sea

In the far north of the earth, in Asgard, the land of the Norse gods:

"It seems Athena truly perished alongside Hades and the Twin Gods." Said Hilda, the current guardian of Polaris, wielding her scepter atop a vast ice plain.

"Her soul has fallen into slumber."

"This Holy War ended faster than expected." She remarked.

"It's surprising."

"No movement from the Sea Realm either... quite unexpected."

Siegfried, the Dubhe Star's Double-Headed Dragon and Hilda's strongest guard, gazed toward the Sea Realm.

As the mightiest of Asgard's resident God Warriors... excluding those directly serving Odin... his strength was unmatched.

"Indeed, Poseidon's silence is odd." Hilda said softly.

"It's been years."

"The Sea King Poseidon hasn't stirred for three Holy Wars."

"Is Athena's seal truly that strong?"

Asgard and the Sanctuary were nominal allies, guarding the earth together.

But Hilda knew the truth: the Sanctuary was the enemy of all gods.

Athena was too powerful, capable of facing Hades, Poseidon, and countless evil gods alone.

Her Golden Saints were peerless on earth.

Even Asgard dared not challenge the Sanctuary.

Records of the previous Holy War were preserved, and this one had ended even faster.

Though Athena's soul slumbered, Hilda knew that if she reincarnated and found the Sanctuary fallen, it would spell disaster for the gods.

Athena, the war goddess of the heavens, was a name that resounded with unmatched weight.

"Someone's coming…"

Siegfried swiftly positioned himself before Hilda, his eyes locked on the horizon.

"A Sea General?"

He stared at the figure clad in golden Scales, astonished.

"Are they planning to attack the Sanctuary while Athena's absent?"

Thoughts raced through his mind.

"First meeting, Queen of Asgard." Said Kanon, the Sea Dragon General, addressing Hilda.

"With Poseidon unawakened, you dare set foot on land?"

"Are you trying to spark a new Holy War while Athena is absent?"

Hilda, the Queen of Asgard, narrowed her eyes at Kanon, the Sea Dragon General.

The Holy War's primary target was always Hades, whose goal was to plunge the earth into darkness, using the Great Eclipse to eradicate all life, leaving not even grass or trees.

Next was Poseidon, who sought to swallow the world with the seas.

While not as genocidal, it would leave humanity with no refuge.

This was why Asgard and the Sanctuary could勉强 be considered battle allies.

Other evil gods were dealt with case by case.

"Lord Poseidon awoke long ago." Kanon said.

"He simply had no interest in this Holy War."

"But we've noticed a shift in its trajectory."

"The chaos caused by the Hydra earlier damaged Hades' reincarnation."

"He was utterly defeated in this war."

"The Sanctuary now holds staggering power."

"This will disrupt the balance in the next Holy War."

"The Sanctuary is too strong."

Kanon fixed his gaze on Hilda.

As a ruler of her own domain, her perspective was broad enough to grasp his meaning.

"The Sanctuary, too strong?"

Siegfried's eyes flickered at the words.

"What exactly are you getting at?" Hilda demanded sharply.

Kanon smirked.

"Queen of Asgard, the Holy War's balance must not be broken."

"If the Sanctuary gains dominance, the earth will fall under its stable rule for ages."

"If Athena uncovers the secrets hidden in the earth, even Asgard will become her vassal."

His visit was to persuade Asgard to ally with the Sea Realm... Poseidon's intent.

Though still sealed in the urn, Poseidon had regained some clarity.

The Sanctuary could win the Holy War, but not so effortlessly.

Poseidon wanted its forces weakened, a task the Sea Realm couldn't achieve alone.

Kanon had come to sway Asgard.

"So what?" Hilda retorted.

"It's better than being consumed by Hades or the seas."

Her alliance with Athena was stable.

Without Odin's direct command, Asgard wouldn't turn against the Sanctuary.

Weakening the Sanctuary's forces? That was none of their concern.

"Is that so?" Kanon said, unsurprised.

"I expected as much."

"Sorento!"

Woowoo

The clear notes of a flute rang out, forming a barrier that enveloped the four.

Siegfried and Hilda clutched their heads, wracked by sudden pain.

"Queen of Asgard, this is Lord Poseidon's will." Kanon said.

A ring was slipped onto Hilda's finger... the Nibelungen Ring.

"Sea Generals!"

"Odin's Sword!"

Siegfried, resisting Sorento's flute, struck back.

His power erupted, shattering the ice plain before him.

"Not bad for Asgard's Double-Headed Dragon!" Kanon exclaimed.

"Strength like that ranks among the earth's finest."

Kanon and Sorento retreated swiftly, but the Nibelungen Ring was already on Hilda's finger.

"Damn you!" Siegfried roared, furious that the queen was attacked under his watch.

"Siegfried, stop." Kanon warned.

"Unless you want her to die here."

He waved his hand, and the ring glowed red.

"Agh!"

Hilda screamed, consumed by agony.

"Stop!" Siegfried shouted, eyes bloodshot.

"What do you want?"

Kanon's smile was cold.

"The Sea Realm's intent is clear: weaken the Sanctuary's forces."

"The Sanctuary can win the Holy War, but not too easily."

"This generation's Sanctuary is too strong."

Siegfried clenched his fists, incredulous.

"Have you been underwater so long your brains are waterlogged?"

"Do you even know how many powerhouses the Sanctuary has?"

"The former Pope Itea, Aquarius Krest, and the current Libra Golden Saint, Kaiser."

"All are Eighth Sense masters."

"Kaiser, blessed with Athena's divine blood, fought the God of Death and emerged unscathed."

"The other Golden Saints are all at the late to peak Seventh Sense."

"The Aries Gold Cloth has a new master."

"The Sanctuary boasts seven active Golden Saints, plus Itea and Krest."

"How do you plan to weaken them? With words?"

"Even with Asgard's help, our odds are less than ten percent!"

Siegfried laughed, exasperated.

To weaken the Sanctuary without gathering intelligence?

Three known Eighth Sense masters, with Kaiser having defeated the Hydra.

Even with Athena's soul in slumber, the Sanctuary's divine artifacts and talismans, infused with her blood, could easily suppress second-tier gods.

"You don't need to worry about that." Kanon said.

"Do as we say if you want your queen to live."

"And don't count on the Sanctuary for help."

"This ring was forged by Lord Poseidon himself."

"Only a god can remove it."

Kanon smirked.

Sorento remained silent, watching Siegfried.

"Madmen! The Sea Realm is full of lunatics!" Siegfried laughed in rage.

"When the time comes, the queen will inform you of our move." Kanon said.

"Defy us, and she dies."

With that, the Sea Generals vanished from the ice plain.

"Damn it!"

Siegfried felt the barrier dissolve around them.

Siegfried knew the two had truly left.

"Your Majesty…"

He lifted Hilda, his eyes filled with hesitation.

He was unsure whether seeking the Sanctuary's aid was wise.

With Athena's soul in slumber, the Sanctuary lacked a god's presence.

If the Nibelungen Ring truly required a god to remove, sending Hilda there would be her death sentence.

"Damn it, we can't let this spread yet." Siegfried decided, choosing to conceal the incident from Asgard's people for now.

The Sea Realm's intentions were unclear, and the Sanctuary's strength was unprecedented.

Beyond a god, Siegfried couldn't imagine who could help the Sea Realm balance the Sanctuary's power.

The Seven Sea Generals?

Not to boast, but while they were strong... mid-Seventh Sense at best... Siegfried was confident he could defeat them all one-on-one.

"This is trouble."

The situation had grown thorny.

Clashing with the Sanctuary would mean breaking the earth's alliance.

Asgard would stand alone, caught between Athena and Hades... a dire predicament.

"Damn you, Kanon!"

Siegfried cursed under his breath.

After much deliberation, he decided to inform the Sanctuary.

It might mitigate casualties if conflict arose.

Carrying Hilda to her chambers, Siegfried located the divine artifact for contacting the Sanctuary.

Hum~

A golden Cosmo flickered faintly.

A message shot from the artifact, speeding toward the distant Sanctuary.

At the Sanctuary's Star Hill:

Humhumhum~

Golden light pulsed steadily.

"What's that?"

Former Pope Itea was surprised.

A message from Asgard.

He and Krest now resided at Star Hill, with the Pope's Hall entrusted to Sisyphus.

"A message from Asgard?"

"Has something happened in the Sea Realm?"

Krest recognized the artifact, used exclusively for communication with Asgard.

"As expected, trouble." Itea said, reading Siegfried's message with a grave expression.

"Kanon, the Sea Dragon?"

"Controlling the Queen of Asgard?"

"Trying to balance the Sanctuary's strength?"

"Poseidon hasn't even awakened."

"What gives them such confidence?"

"Could the Sea Realm have allied with evil gods?" Krest mused, frowning.

Poseidon's power was formidable.

In the Mythological Era, he and Athena had mutually destroyed each other.

Though absent from the last three Holy Wars, this news caught the Sanctuary off guard.

"If it's just second-tier gods, there's no need for concern." Itea said.

"With the Sanctuary's current strength, we can handle them."

He relayed the message to the Pope's Hall.

In the Sea Realm:

"Lord Poseidon, we've returned." The Seven Sea Generals announced, gathered at Poseidon's sealed urn.

"We've successfully controlled the Queen of Asgard." Kanon reported.

"If Siegfried wants her to live, he'll have to cooperate."

"But, Lord Poseidon, the Sanctuary's current strength…"

Kanon trailed off.

From the white urn, Poseidon's majestic voice resonated.

"No need for concern."

"The Sanctuary's power has grown too great, alarming many gods."

"I've received messages from some, planning to unite against the Sanctuary."

"This Holy War, the Sanctuary won too easily, preserving too much strength."

"Evil gods are growing restless."

"Our allies aren't just Asgard."

"Controlling their queen isn't to make them fight the Sanctuary."

"It's to keep them neutral when we strike."

"After you left, I sensed fluctuations in Athena's divine artifacts."

"The Sanctuary knows we're preparing to act."

Kanon and Sorento's expressions shifted.

They hadn't expected Siegfried to contact the Sanctuary so swiftly.

"Wait patiently." Poseidon said.

"Our allies will arrive."

"This earth won't remain Athena's domain forever."

"It's time for a new master."

His voice faded, suppressed again by Athena's seal on the urn.

Poseidon could break free if he chose, but without a suitable vessel, his reincarnated form would be weakened.

In the Saint Seiya era, Poseidon, released midway by Kanon and possessing Julian Solo, was manipulated and never fully awakened.

This was one reason he avoided direct action.

There was no need.

Maintaining the status quo sufficed.

After eons of Holy Wars, Poseidon was weary.

He wasn't warlike by nature.

As long as Hades didn't rule the earth, he was content.

Elsewhere, responding to Poseidon's call, evil gods stirred.

Hiss… hiss…

On an unnamed island deep in the ocean, a giant serpent slithered.

"Is this my chance for revenge?"

Medusa's eyes brimmed with bloody tears.

Once a pure priestess serving Athena, she was violated by Poseidon on a stormy night.

Athena, without discerning the truth, cursed her into this monstrous form.

The injustice fueled her hatred for Athena.

Now, with the Holy War ended, her opportunity had come.

With no god present in the Sanctuary, Medusa saw her chance.

Coupled with Poseidon's message, her eyes burned with vengeful hatred.

Ten thousand meters below the sea, a colossal beast roared.

The Kraken, a mythical ocean overlord, had become Poseidon's pet, imbued with traces of divinity.

Its strength was formidable.

"Well, well." a voice mused.

"I didn't expect the earth to be so lively."

Eris, the goddess of discord, descended upon the land, her gaze fixed on the Sanctuary.

Confirming that the Holy War between the Sanctuary and Hades had ended, with Athena truly in slumber, the restless gods could no longer sit idle.

Even if only for two hundred years, ruling the earth for that time was enticing.

They, too, sought the secrets hidden within the earth... secrets that had fueled the Holy War since the Mythological Era.
