Chapter 53: Apologie Re-upload
It was another day in Beacon, as Oscar was seating with his Team and Team JNPR, he heard footsteps as he saw Cardine, as Oscar had something ready he went to Jaune
Jaune looked at him, if Cardine was here to make trouble he was ready to fight. "What do you wants Cardin".
Cardin spoke with a bit of shaking voice. "I just wanted to apologise".
Jaune just Blinked. "What?".
As the whole room was just a mic drop, as Cardin looked at all of them.
Cardin then spoke explaining him self. "What happened in the Forever fall, will it had impact not only on you, so yeah".
As he just left the table, he then apologised to Velvet who was with team CFVY as he went back to his own table
Ruby just spoke. "Did that just happened".
The entire room was still in stunned silence as Cardin's unexpected apology echoed in their minds. Jaune, still trying to process the turn of events, blinked a few more times, his hand almost twitching to ask if he was dreaming.
Oscar, having seen Cardin's shift in demeanor from the first encounter, gave a slight nod. "Well, that's… unexpected."
Pyrrha, always the mediator, looked over to Jaune with a reassuring smile. "People do change, Jaune. Maybe this is his way of making up for past mistakes."
Jaune let out a deep breath, rubbing the back of his neck, still unsure. "I mean, I never thought I'd hear those words from him, let alone in public. But hey, if he's trying to make amends, that's a step forward."
Ruby, still wide-eyed, added, "Maybe we'll even get a Cardin 2.0. One that isn't so… ahem, aggressive."
Yang smirked, clearly enjoying the moment. "Yeah, imagine if we could train him to be a decent human being instead of a walking headache."
Cardin, now back at his table, sat down with a look of contemplation, as though the weight of his apology was sinking in. It wasn't easy, especially with everything that had happened between them, but maybe it was a start.
As the tension in the room slowly eased, Oscar leaned back in his chair, watching the interaction. This might be a pivotal moment for Cardin, but the real question was—would his actions follow through with his words? Only time would tell.
"Maybe he's not such a lost cause after all," Oscar mused aloud, mostly to himself.
Jaune, still processing, shrugged. "I guess I'll wait and see. But if he ever pulls something like that again…" His fist clenched, but he didn't finish the threat. The atmosphere in the room shifted from confusion to cautious optimism.
"Well," Ruby said with a bright smile, "at least it's one less person to worry about being a pain in the neck."
"True," Pyrrha replied, looking over at Jaune, "But let's stay cautious, okay? People don't always change overnight."
"Yeah, you're right," Jaune said, still unsure, but nodding slowly. "But for now... thanks, Cardin."
The room slowly returned to its usual chatter, but there was an air of curiosity surrounding Cardin's apology. Would he keep his word? Or would his actions soon show that old habits die hard?
Oscar knew the answer would come soon enough. He was willing to bet that Cardin's journey of redemption had only just begun.
Oscar then just spoke. "Maybe today we have a relaxing day".
"You know I wonder why Faunus are even allows in the school".
Oscar then looked at Blake as she also heard that, as he thought. "Or no fuck that".
The group saw someone had said, and the same guy said another thing. "I mens why allow this second grades into this school for hunter".
Blake gut up as she looked at him. "What do you mean by that".
The Guy looked at her as he spoke. "Yeah you heard me, I am just saying what they all spy sent by the white fang, only thing Faunus do is lie".
Blake was getting more angry. "Oh really".
Yang slammed her fist. "Care to repeats that".
His partner spoke as well. "He is right, I haven't seen a single Good Faunus, them being allows in Beacon is noting but a joke, this is a Human school"
Another one spoke. "Yeah I am from Atlest and we know where too put them, in the dirt".
On this sparked something, as Blake pulled out Gamble Shroud. "What did you say"
Seeing the escalation situation Team CFVY got up, but then what Weiss said made they worse.
Weiss didn't know what side to take. "I mens the majority are bad but they are good ones".
Oscar just looked at her with a face that said are you for real.
Blake looked at her own teammate. "What did you said".
Weiss didn't know what just came out as she continued. "I am just saying the white fang, and the other mini groups".
Velvet then spoke. "That is not the whole Population".
As then Oscar summoned Crimson Fang from his Inventory which no one saw, as he fired it up. "Enough".
Everyone stopped and went back to there eating.
2 hours had passed, as in the dorm room Blake and Weiss was having a heated argument of what she said in the Cafitaria.
Weiss then spoke. "It is because of bleeding hearts like you that trh white fangs are not gone".
Blake just snapped. "Oh yeah why do you hate them then, why do you Hate the Faunus".
Weiss got up as she looked at as she yalled. "Why because I am Victim". The group goes silent as she spokes. "Wanna know why I hate the white fang, why I don't like the Faunus, they have been in war with my family for years, war as in Actual Bloodshed, my grandfather company had a target planted on the back for the longest I can remembe, ever Sense I was a I watched friend's desiper, board member kidnapped, family executed, everyday my father would come home and that would make for a bad childhood, I didn't even know my own mother properly because she send me to my aunt". She then slammed her hand on the bookshelf. "You wanna know why I despise the Faunus, because they are buch liers, criminal and Murdere".
Blake finally clacck as she spoke. "Maybe we are just tired of being pushed around".
It then slowly down on everyone what just happened, as they looked at Her as with eyes heavily Blake runned out the dorm, as Oscar left after her.
Weiss looked at him as she spoke, forgetting her shock for a few seconds. "Wait how are you processing this so fast".
Oscar stopped and looked at her as he just sighed. "I already knew".
As he left, he actived Shadow Vail as he chased after Blake, with that for Blake she was in edge of Beacon Terrace as the nigh falls, she then takes of her ribbon as her Cat ears in full display, she looked at Beacon Academy as she runned away.
Back in team ROWBY everyone was too shocked as they try and processed what juts happened, Yang and Ruby wants too go too get after Blake, as for Weiss she didn't know what too say, in a different life she might have want too go to administrative office to report her, but not in this one she gotten close to the girls and will things were bit a different she remembers her mother word's but then she remembers what Oscar said
Weiss looked at them. "How did he know she was Faunus".
Yang blinked as she spoke. "Yeah, how did Oscar know".
Non of them knew about the Gamer system, so they had no idea it was because of the system.
Ruby then spoke as she looked at him. "I mean it not like he accidentally caught her revealing her".
Yang then spoke. "Ears?, I mean Blake is a bit like cat, but that might be me just being me".
The atmosphere in the dorm remained tense. Weiss sat down on her bed, her hands clenched together as her mind replayed everything that had just happened. She had been so caught up in her own anger that she never realized how much her words had hurt Blake.
Yang, still visibly frustrated, ran a hand through her hair. "This is a mess… I knew Blake was sensitive about the Faunus thing, but I didn't think Weiss would—" she stopped, looking at Weiss, who flinched slightly. "Look, I get that you've been through some awful stuff, but what you said—"
"I know," Weiss cut in, her voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't mean to say it like that. It just… it just all came out."
Ruby, always the peacemaker, sighed. "We can talk about this later. Right now, we need to find Blake before she does something reckless."
Meanwhile, Oscar moved quickly through the halls, following Blake's trail using Shadow Veil to stay hidden. He knew this was a delicate situation. If he pushed too hard, she might completely shut down, but if he said nothing, she could disappear entirely.
As he reached the edge of Beacon's terrace, he spotted her standing alone, her cat ears fully visible under the moonlight. She had removed her ribbon, letting her true self breathe for the first time in a long time.
Oscar stepped forward, careful with his words. "Blake… I know you're hurting, but running away won't fix anything."
Blake didn't turn around, but her ears twitched slightly, showing she had heard him. "And what would you know about it, Oscar? About what it feels like to be treated like you don't belong?"
Oscar took another step forward. "I don't. Not in the way you do. But I know what it's like to feel out of place, to have something forced on you that you never asked for."
Blake finally turned, her golden eyes meeting his. "That's not the same."
"No, it's not," Oscar admitted. "But that doesn't mean I don't want to help. You have people who care about you, Blake. If you leave now, you'll just be proving those guys right."
Blake clenched her fists. "It's not that simple."
"It never is," Oscar said gently. "But that's why you don't have to do it alone."
For a long moment, there was silence. The night wind blew between them, carrying with it the weight of unspoken pain. Finally, Blake let out a deep breath. "…I just need time."
Oscar nodded. "Then take it. But don't push away the people who want to stand by you."
Blake hesitated before slowly nodding. "Thanks, Oscar."
As they stood there, the sounds of hurried footsteps came from behind them. Ruby, Yang, and Weiss had finally caught up. Weiss looked like she wanted to say something, but the words got caught in her throat.
Blake turned toward them, her expression unreadable. "…I think I need some air. Alone."
Yang crossed her arms but nodded. "Alright. But don't think for a second that we're letting this slide. We're talking when you're ready."
Blake gave a small nod before walking away into the night. The rest of the group watched her go before turning to Oscar.
"You found her," Ruby said, relief in her voice. "Thanks."
Oscar simply nodded. "She just needed someone to listen."
Weiss, still standing in place, finally whispered, "I… I need to think." Without waiting for a response, she turned and walked back toward the dorms.
Yang sighed. "This is gonna take some time to fix."
"Yeah," Oscar agreed. "But at least now, we can start."
Later that day in rooftop, as there was only Oscar, as Oscar was on the edge walking, as Blake looked at him.
Blake looked at Oscar as she spoke. "So how did you um.... Knew I was Faunus, I heard what you said when I ran out".
Oscar just sigehd as she spoke mentally. "Hey system can I show you too Blake".
Ding!
[Yes, but the next daily are going to be hard, as this is your penalty]
Oscar landed as he looked at her, as he spoke. "Don't be shocked".
Blake wonder what Oscar ment as then he shows him his system, his stats his everything, as eh spoke. "This is how, it my system and it called a gamer system, it is basically a Video game menu and... Blake are you ok".
If anyone can she Blake mind now, they would see that she has an Error.ExE moment, as she was having a reality crash this Manu was too much like Video games.
Blake stood there, frozen, her golden eyes darting between the floating menu in front of her and Oscar's calm expression. Her brain was trying—desperately—to process what she was looking at, but it was failing spectacularly.
"You… have a game system?" she finally managed to say, her voice slightly higher than usual.
Oscar nodded. "Yeah, it's basically like a video game interface. I can see my stats, skills, and even upgrade abilities over time."
Blake blinked several times, trying to ground herself in reality. "That's… not possible."
Oscar smirked. "And yet, here we are."
She rubbed her temples, feeling a migraine coming on. "Okay, let's assume I believe you. How does this explain you knowing I was a Faunus?"
Oscar flipped through the system and pointed to one of his skills. Observation.
"It lets me see details about people, including race, aura levels, and sometimes even hidden traits," he explained. "I knew you were a Faunus from the moment I first used it on you, but I didn't say anything because, well… it's your secret to tell."
Blake's ears twitched. "So you just… knew this entire time?"
"Yeah," Oscar admitted. "And I never cared. You're still Blake, and that's all that matters."
Blake stared at him for a moment before sighing. "That's… oddly reassuring."
Oscar chuckled. "I try."
She glanced back at the system screen, still floating in front of her. "This is insane. Stats? Abilities? Daily Quests? What even is your life?"
"A strange mix of RPG mechanics and actual reality," Oscar said with a shrug. "Honestly, I've just been rolling with it."
Blake crossed her arms. "And you're telling me this because…?"
"Because I trust you," Oscar said simply. "You trusted me with your secret. Now I'm trusting you with mine."
Blake was silent for a moment before a small smile appeared on her face. "Thanks, Oscar."
"Anytime," he replied.
Blake's mind was still spinning, but she appreciated the honesty. She didn't fully understand this gamer system of his, but one thing was clear—Oscar wasn't normal. Then again, neither was she.
Maybe that was why they got along so well.
Blake just looked at him as she spoke. "Quick Question, are we in a Video game".
Oscar just looked at as he spoke. "Um what?".
Blake gestured at the floating system screen. "Think about it. You have stats, abilities, and even daily quests. That sounds exactly like something out of a video game."
Oscar scratched the back of his head. "I mean… yeah, I get why you'd think that. But as far as I know, this is still real life."
Blake narrowed her eyes. "And how do you know that? What if this is all some elaborate simulation? What if we're just NPCs in someone else's game?"
Oscar blinked. "Okay, wow. That escalated quickly."
Blake crossed her arms. "I knew something was off about my life. Everything follows weirdly specific story arcs. We fight themed enemies. There's an actual school for training hunters, and somehow, the teachers are okay with students constantly getting into life-threatening situations."
Oscar opened his mouth to argue, but then paused. "…Okay, yeah, that does sound a little scripted."
Blake's ears flicked. "And now you show up with a literal video game system? What if you're the main character and we're all just side quests in your story?"
Oscar raised his hands in defense. "Hey, if I am the main character, no one told me. I didn't exactly get a tutorial explaining what the hell is going on."
Blake narrowed her eyes further. "…That's exactly what a protagonist would say."
Oscar groaned. "Blake, I promise, this isn't some weird meta-narrative where I'm secretly controlling everything."
She crossed her arms and tapped her foot. "Fine. But if I start seeing 'Quest Complete' pop-ups after conversations, I'm blaming you."
Oscar sighed. "Fair enough."
