RWBY: Moon Reflection

Chapter 13: Tales Of The Brother

The sun dipped low in the sky as the vale airship made its way toward the Kingdom of Mistral. Crimson sat in the spacious cabin reserved for the orchestra members, surrounded by instruments carefully packed for travel. His flute rested in a case beside him, a personal favorite among the many instruments he had learned to play over the years. The hum of the airship was a steady background to the quiet chatter of his fellow musicians.

This journey to Mistral marked a significant milestone for the orchestra. They were to perform at the prestigious Haven Academy, a place renowned for its appreciation of arts and culture. For Crimson, it was both a thrilling new experience and a firm step in his new pursuit. His only regret is that this is the year Yang will leave for Beacon Academy and he won't be there to see her leave.

Meanwhile, unknown to Crimson back in Vale, Ruby Rose, his twin sister, was having a far less tranquil experience. A simple visit to a dust shop to view the latest weapon magazine edition had turned into a chaotic encounter with a known criminal, Roman Torchwick. The fight had drawn the attention of none other than Professor Ozpin, Beacon Academy's headmaster. After witnessing Ruby's potential, he offered her an unprecedented opportunity: to skip two years of schooling and join Beacon Academy immediately. Though surprised, Ruby eagerly accepted, her excitement for the future overwhelming any doubts.

Yang, as supportive as ever, was overjoyed at her sister's achievement. Not long after, Team RWBY was formed: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang—a diverse group of talents and personalities united under one roof. Moving into their dorm was a whirlwind of activity, the girls buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead.

The first weekend at Beacon brought an unexpected surprise. A package arrived for Ruby and Yang, its sender unknown until Ruby opened it to find a neatly written letter inside. She read it aloud, her voice filled with delight:

"Dear Ruby and Yang,

Congratulations on your acceptance into Beacon and the formation of your team! I'm incredibly proud of both of you. Enclosed are notes I originally prepared for Yang to help her navigate the material of the first year at Beacon. Now that both of you are here, I hope they'll be useful to you too.

Remember, I'm always rooting for you.

With love,

Crimson."

The sisters eagerly dug into the package, revealing beautifully bound notebooks filled with detailed notes on multiple topics such as history and Grimm behaviors study. The handwriting was immaculate, every word crafted with precision and care.

Weiss, curious, peered into one of the notebooks. "Who wrote this? The penmanship is exquisite, and the content is surprisingly thorough. Whoever this is must be highly intellectual individual and well-versed in calligraphy"

Ruby beamed with pride. "It's from my twin brother, Crimson!"

Weiss blinked, surprised. "You have a twin brother? And he wrote all of this?"

Yang nodded, a fond smile on her face. "Yeah, he is the most amazing person I know and the best brother in the world. He has always been there for us. When Mom died, he was 4 years old, despite his age he practically held our family together. He took care of us, taught himself all our school material so he could tutor us and help us keep up, he also helped us in our combat training and spars. And let me tell you, this is just the tip of the iceberg, there is nothing he can't do. If it weren't for him, we probably wouldn't be here at Beacon."

Blake, who had been quietly listening, tilted her head in intrigue. "He sounds like an incredible person. Why isn't he here with you?"

Ruby hesitated for a moment, her expression a mix of admiration and wistfulness. "He decided not to become a Huntsman. Instead, he joined an orchestra. Music is his passion."

Weiss raised an eyebrow, her skepticism evident. "Let me get this straight. Your twin, who sounds like a rare prodigy, that helped you enter one of the most prestigious academies in the world, chose music over becoming a Huntsman? Forgive me, but that seems... unlikely."

Yang chuckled. "I know it's hard to believe, but that's just Crimson. He's always been different, he is in a league of his own. And trust me, he's just as talented in music as he is in everything else."

Blake's ears under the ribbon twitched slightly, her interest piqued. "He must have a lot of discipline to balance so many skills."

Ruby nodded enthusiastically. "He does! He's the reason I'm so good with Crescent Rose. He used to spar with me all the time and helped me figure out how to use my scythe efficiently. He is the best, no one can compare with him"

Weiss, though still doubtful of such a person, couldn't deny the warmth and pride evident in Ruby and Yang's words. The notebook in her hands was proof of Crimson's dedication and skill, and she found herself curious about the man behind it.

Another month had passed, and life at Beacon Academy was in full swing. Team RWBY had settled into a rhythm, balancing classes, training, and their blossoming friendships. During this time, Ruby and Yang continued to share stories about their brother, Crimson. Tales of his talent, skills, and selfless dedication painted him as a near-mythical figure, someone larger than life.

However, no one was convinced.

Weiss, ever the skeptic, had doubted the sisters' claims. "Someone Ruby's age that talented? I find that highly improbable," she remarked one evening, flipping through one of Crimson's detailed notebooks.

Blake, who was also borrowing a notebook at the time, nodded in agreement. "It's not that we don't believe you, but the way you describe him makes him sound... too perfect."

Despite their doubts, both girls had to admit that Crimson's notes were invaluable. They made their life much easier and gave team RWBY an edge in their classes. Over time, the notebooks became something of a secret weapon for the team, allowing them to stay ahead of their peers.

Today's class was a test of their skills: a sparring match between Team RWBY and Team JNPR in Glynda Goodwitch's combat class. The headmistress stood with her usual stern demeanor, overseeing the match with hawk-like vigilance.

The battle was fierce, each team showcasing their strengths. Yang's fiery punches clashed against Nora's hammer, Blake's agility kept Ren on his toes, and Ruby's scythe danced in a whirlwind against Jaune's shield. Weiss strategically supported her teammates with Glyphs, but despite their efforts, Team JNPR emerged victorious.

Pyrrha Nikos, the "Invincible Girl," was the last one standing, her spear and shield gleaming under the arena lights as she helped her teammates back to their feet.

"Excellent work, Team JNPR," Glynda praised, though her expression remained as stern as ever. "And Team RWBY, you've shown improvement. Learn from this and continue to grow."

Later that day during lunch, the two teams shared a table, recounting the match. Weiss, still nursing her pride, commented, "It's almost unfair having Pyrrha on your team. She practically carried you all."

Nora grinned mischievously. "Sounds like someone's a little salty! Face it, Weiss, Pyrrha's the ace up our sleeve. No one can beat her!"

Pyrrha shifted uncomfortably in her seat. "I'm not that special," she said softly, her humility genuine.

Ruby, however, wasn't about to let that slide. "Oh, yeah? My brother could totally take Pyrrha in a one-on-one fight and win!"

Yang leaned back with a smirk, crossing her arms. "She's only called the Invincible Girl because she's never fought Crimson. He would wipe the floor with her"

The table fell silent for a moment, then erupted into laughter.

"Your brother again?" Nora teased. "You've been hyping him up for weeks! What's next? He can take on an entire pack of Nevermores with a toothpick?"

"It's true!" Ruby protested.

Weiss rolled her eyes. "Ruby, we've heard about your brother endlessly. But extraordinary as he might be, he could not possibly best someone of Pyrrha's caliber."

Blake chimed in, her tone measured but curious. "You've told us a lot about him, but it's hard to picture someone so skilled who chose music over combat."

Even Pyrrha couldn't hide her intrigue. She regarded Ruby and Yang with interest. "If he's as talented as you say, I'd like to meet him. Someone you both admire that much must be remarkable."

The conversation grew heated, with Ruby and Yang passionately defending their brother's prowess while the rest of the table remained skeptical. The commotion soon caught the attention of Glynda Goodwitch, who was entering the cafeteria alongside Ozpin.

"Enough!" Glynda's authoritative voice cut through the noise, silencing the group. "This is not how aspiring Huntsmen and Huntresses should conduct themselves."

Ozpin, however, seemed more amused than annoyed. Adjusting his glasses, he addressed the table. "What seems to be the source of this lively debate?"

Before anyone could respond, Ruby's Scroll pinged with a new message. She quickly checked it, her face lighting up with excitement. "It's from Crimson!" she squealed, practically bouncing in her seat.

Yang leaned over her shoulder to read the message, grinning. "Well, would you look at that? He's coming to Vale for a week!"

The news drew curious glances from everyone at the table, including Pyrrha and Blake. Even Weiss, despite her skepticism, couldn't hide her interest.

Ozpin raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "Crimson, you say? Your brother?"

Ruby nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah!"

Ozpin chuckled softly. "That's intriguing. I'd very much like to meet him in person, Miss Rose. Perhaps you could help arrange that?"

Standing beside him, Glynda wasn't surprised by his interest. Her expression turned thoughtful as if she, too, was curious about the young man who had sparked so much discussion.
