Chapter 6: Family and Schemes
Weiss sighed and wiped the sweat from her brow as she finished another training routine. She sheathed her rapier, Myrtenaster, into the holster on her hip and grabbed water from the bench near her in the Schnee mansion's yard. Unconsciously, she glanced at a particular bench and sighed.
'It's been three years.'
She'd grown up a lot from the little girl whose family did their best to distract her from how awful her father was. Now, she was fourteen and devoted herself to training to become a powerful huntsman.
Compared to their family situation from back then, it could almost be said that everything was perfect now. Her mother didn't drink anymore, her sister no longer had to hold the weight of their father's expectations on her back at all times, and she didn't have to deal with Jacques' indifference. Everything was perfect, except for one important thing.
She continued to stare at the bench he used to lounge on while Winter trained her, a book always in his hand. Weiss could still hear his antiquated way of talking, his words fresh in her mind despite the time that had passed. The one aching wound left in the Schnee family after Jacques' passing was her missing older brother.
The memories from the morning Jacques had been found were ones she would never forget. They were etched into her mind, the sheer emotional turmoil she was left with leaving its mark. She could remember holding Jack tightly as she fell asleep, his voice calming her as he read her a story before bed. She'd always reveled in the sense of comfort she felt with her older brother. There was never a time when she was scared as long as he was around because she knew he'd protect her.
Then, she'd woken up that morning with Jack gone and her mother and sister both rushing into her room in a flurry. She was disoriented, unable to comprehend what was going on around her. It was only later, after Willow had swept her up in her arms with tears streaming down her face that she got the sense something was wrong.
That day was the day they found Jacques dead in his study and Jack nowhere to be found. Willow put every contact, and every bit of money she could into trying to locate the missing Jack. Few tears were shed for her dead husband, instead, she was solely focused on locating her missing child.
Those times were the hardest, the trio of Schnee women finding comfort in each other as they ended up all sleeping in the same room for many months to come. There was always that fear that they'd wake up and another one of them would be gone. Weiss knew that Jack had been sleeping in her room, and yet she had been left alone while only he had been taken. Even while he was missing, it felt like her brother had protected her.
Now that Jack wasn't with her anymore, she'd decided she had to step up and protect her family in his stead. Her light training had turned into a single-minded passion to get stronger, to be better. She wouldn't let anyone take her family from her again, and when they found Jack, she hadn't given up hope he was alive, she'd personally tear through whoever had taken him.
Weiss stood up and made her way into the mansion, the sound of her heels echoing in the large hallway. She walked into her mother's study, her mother and Winter both sitting behind desks next to each other as they looked through some report or another. With Winter now an adult she'd become an integral part of the company as she worked side-by-side with their mother.
When Weiss entered the room, both women looked up and graced her with a smile.
"How was your training today?" Winter asked her.
"I'm not where I need to be," Weiss replied, giving the same answer she always did. "I need to be better."
"Just don't push yourself too hard," Willow chimed in, a soft sigh escaping her as she looked at Weiss. This was a conversation that played out in different ways every day. Weiss knew her mother and sister thought she was pushing herself too hard, but she couldn't be satisfied with mediocrity. Only the best could bring her brother home.
"I won't," Weiss lied. She could see her mother and sister exchange a glance and pretended not to see it. They were not as optimistic as she was about Jack's survival, although they tried their best to encourage her she knew they'd both begun to give up hope. "Ready for lunch?"
"We should be just about done in a minute."
Weiss sat down on a couch in the office as she waited for the two to finish whatever they were working on. Eventually, the three made their way out of the office and into the dining room to eat a meal that had been prepared by the servants. The scene of the three Schnee women eating around the table was picturesque, with smiles that hadn't ever been present back when Jacques had been alive. Despite that, one extra chair had a place set, although both the chair and plate were noticeably empty.
----
Beatrice and Jack walked towards the table that Jack had reserved for them. He pulled her chair out and allowed her to sit down, Beatrice saying a polite "thank you." Jack moved over to the seat across from her and sat down, two menus emerging from his pocket as he passed one to her.
"Now my lady, any preferences on drink or would you prefer I recommend one?"
Jack's voice had a bewitching tone as he spoke, an experienced relaxation evident in his demeanor.
"Oh, aren't you a little young to be recommending alcohol?" Beatrice questioned.
"I assure you, despite only being eighteen I've developed quite a wide palate in my short time of age." Jack's lie slipped easily from his lips. As far as anyone he knew here was aware, he was eighteen, which was both the legal drinking age and the age to be considered an adult in Remnant. It helped to obfuscate his identity as well since Jack Schnee would only be sixteen.
"Hmm, well I suppose I'll put that to the test then. I'll have whatever you recommend." Jack flagged down a waitress he was familiar with and had her go back and grab a particular bottle of wine.
Beatrice and Jack engaged in small talk until the bottle was brought to their table. With practiced ease, Jack filled two glasses and set one gently down in front of Beatrice. "Hopefully it's to your tastes, my lady."
Beatrice delicately lifted the wine glass to her lips and took a light sip, allowing the wine to rest in her mouth for a brief moment before she swallowed. A light smile appeared on her beautiful face, one could easily mistake her for a runway model. "It seems you do indeed know your stuff."
"I aim to please," Jack replied, bowing his head lightly.
The rest of their time was spent conversing, none of the topics being all that interesting but a comfortable atmosphere settled over the table. Jack quickly realized that Beatrice was ensuring she didn't make it obvious she knew of his idea, not even hinting at the idea or probing at all and instead just developing a rapport with him.
Jack found himself enjoying the refined conversation, even as he watched Beatrice's emotions with his Soul Eye. Throughout the entire conversation, the two prevalent emotions were ambition and interest. He highly doubted that interest was romantic, so more than likely it was professional.
Soon their allotted time was up and Jack stood and helped Beatrice to her feet. "It's been a pleasure to dine with you Lady Beatrice. Can I expect a repeat appearance?" The question wasn't unusual for those who worked in the building. It was best to elicit a promise of a return, as establishing a consistence clientele of regulars was the best way to make good tips.
"How much longer is your shift? Perhaps we can get to know each other better in a more...private setting."
The suggestive tone in Beatrice's voice contrasted sharply with her true emotions. It was certainly possible she found Jack attractive, he was well aware that he was well above-average in this new life, however, Beatrice was clearly angling for something in particular with this offer. Whatever it may be, Jack was rather interested to see what she would do.
"I only have two more clients for the day. If it suits you, I can be free in a few hours."
Beatrice had a sultry smile on her face as she replied. "Excellent, I'll give you my address and scroll number."
Jack received the information and saved it and Beatrice then took her leave. A coworker of his came up to him, his face amused. "It's rare that you'll accept an offer like that Jack."
Offers for more clandestine meetings weren't uncommon in their line of work. The store owner turned a blind eye to it, as the arrangements were never paid. Prostitution was illegal in Vale, and the host club was a high-end one that paid well already. Any "extracurricular" activities were purely at the behest of those who wanted to, and most were perfectly happy to hook up with wealthy, attractive women.
"She's a rare woman, that one," Jack replied, and his coworker nodded in agreement, although their meanings were certainly different.
Jack finished out the rest of his shift and made his way home to get changed. He changed out of his work uniform into another of his suits. The more formal attire was something he was most at home wearing, and the multiple folds and pockets worked well to hide whatever he may want to carry on his person.
'Now the question is how I want to play this evening.'
He checked his scroll and found he had a few messages from Neo. She was just informing her about his day and asked how he was, so he gave a brief response while neglecting to mention his past and upcoming encounters with Lady Beat.
He realized his hair was growing long as it had been some time since he'd cut it. He settled for tying it back into a small ponytail and made his way out of the building and strolled down the street to the address Beatrice had given him.
Jack had been giving the entire situation some thought, and it was obvious that everything was connected in some way. Beatrice had somehow known of his conversation with Neo, despite not being present. At the same time, the twins Neo wanted dead were involved in something with that club, and Beatrice came to his place of work just to set this entire thing up. It was too much at once to be a coincidence, so he would be doing his best to clear up some of the confusion tonight.
Jack made sure to buy a bouquet of flowers on his way, never one to neglect proper etiquette. Once he reached the apartment, he was buzzed up to the third floor. It was a high-end apartment building, every unit being large enough to be called a suite. He came upon the correct door and knocked lightly and there was some shuffling from within before the door open.
Jack was never one to be swayed by beauty, but he could easily admit that Beatrice was beautiful. Her hair was tied up and she wore a thin nightie that hardly served to conceal her figure. It was tied loosely, and it seemed as if one shift would cause it to come undone.
"It seems I'm rather overdressed," Jack commented as he handed the flowers to the woman.
"I'm sure we can rectify that," Beatrice tittered as she set the flowers down in a nearby vase and led him into the apartment. Jack set his jacket on a coat hook and took off his shoes before following Beatrice deeper into the apartment.
She led him into the living room before she turned around and leaned close to him. Beatrice was tall, easily six feet tall. Despite that, Jack was still a little taller, but not enough that she had to tilt her head up to look him in the eye.
Beatrice dragged her hand down his chest while maintaining eye contact with him. "It's rare to find such a...charming gentleman. I'm rather busy most of the time, but you wouldn't deny a girl a moment of relaxation, would you?"
A polite smile was on Jack's face as he wrapped his arm around her and pulled closer, her chest flush against his. "Of course not, young lady." The last two words were whispered in her ear, his tone sultry.
At the same time, Jack could feel her hands roaming around his body. One brushed past his ass, but despite physically seeming into the encounter, Jack was paying particular attention to what she was doing, which meant he noticed when her hand slipped lightly into his pocket and pilfered his phone.
He let her do it, not giving away that he was aware of her actions. It was perhaps a test to see just how good he was. It was best that Jack give the image of someone well-versed in killing, he was clearly and experienced murderer as she'd discovered from the alleyway, but one that was young and easily swayed by women.
Killing her now was an option, but without being truly aware of the scope of the situation, it was ill-advised. Alongside that, despite how relaxed Beatrice seemed, Jack's Soul Eye allowed him to clearly see her aura. She was strong and her body was tensed, ready to react if he attempted to attack her. She was well aware he was a serial killer and wouldn't drop her guard around him.
Thus, the best choice was to play into her expectations. He was a young man in the prime of his youth being offered a beautiful women. He'd meet her expectations, all while keeping a careful eye on what she was doing.
She dragged the hand that was on his chest down to the buckle of his pants, the action designed to draw his attention from her other hand which tucked his phone into the pocket of her robe.
Beatrice then looked up and kissed him, pulling his head towards her to deepen the kiss while one of her hands worked his pants buckle. The buckle came undone, while her other arm wrapped around heck and pulled her bother tight against him.
"Follow me," Beatrice whispered as she released him and grabbed his hand to drag him towards the bedroom. Jack followed her as she opened the bedroom door and ushered him inside. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her set his phone into a specific alcove in the wall, although it was concealed in such a way that if he hadn't paid keen attention he would've missed it.
Beatrice seemed to be wanting to ensure he didn't notice that, though, as her finger pulled the tie of her robe loose and it dropped to the ground, revealing the black lingerie she was wearing and her well-endowed figure.
She lightly pushed his chest so that he fell back onto the bed, Jack putting on an expression that gave the impression he was entranced by her. He was certainly attracted to the woman, but he would never let that sway his actions.
Even as she sashayed forward, her hands pulling his pants down, his Soul Eye was locked onto the wall she'd set his phone in. Much like Aura, Dust was obvious to his eye as well and he could see Dust powering some mechanism in the wall. It seemed to be doing something to his phone, most likely some kind of tracking or monitoring software.
"Now now, my dear, it's my job to properly spoil you." Jack lifted Beatrice's body with ease and flipped her over, setting her down on the bed on her back as he vested himself of his shirt and pulled his pants fully off his legs. Clad in only his boxers, his fingers moved along Beatrice's skin.
She was confident, she'd secure his phone while he seemed wholly unaware. At this point, she would relax somewhat although she wouldn't completely lower her guard. This was the time when he needed to take control of the situation and not allow her to set the rhythm.
Jack glanced around the room and took stock of what was available to him. Then, he trailed kisses along Beatrice's body until his head was between her legs and slipped her underwear off her. Her lower half bared to him, and his face moved between her legs as sounds of pleasure began to echo in the room.
It was obvious Beatrice enjoyed being in power, in control, as her hands grasped his hair tightly. Throughout the entire counter, Jack made sure to play to her expectations and desires. He worked her over until she reached completion before he raised his head.
No words were exchanged as Jack stood up again and slipped his boxers off, while Beatrice unclipped her bra and flung it to the side. From there, they entered the throws of passion, and Jack kept a careful stock of her emotions throughout as he waited for the right moment.
Beatrice liked to control the tempo, so Jack allowed her to do so throughout the beginning. He waited until she got her fix on control, so to her what he did next would simply feel like a young man feeling the need to try to fix his pride. He flipped her over, leaving her face down in the bed as he moved behind her. At the moment he began, he leaned down over her and whispered in ear.
"My turn."
With his face so close to hers, she couldn't see that his other arm had moved to the nightstand where her own phone sat. He fiddled with it while continuing with Beatrice, his body positioned in such a way that out of the corner of his eye, he could see the screen. Nothing obvious was present on her phone, but one contact stuck out. A "Lil' Miss" which, when he checked the messages, had an image of him from the night he met Neo within.
The photo was taken from lower to the ground, and it took Jack a minute to figure out it was around the chest area of Neo. Thinking back to Neo's attire that night, he remembered that past the illusion of an ordinary woman, she was wearing her modified school uniform with a pin around where this photo would have been taken.
The messages within weren't clear, written in a code, but the image gave him a good idea of how Beatrice had discovered his identity, but that opened up an even larger web. What were Lil' Miss and Lady Beat doing monitoring the students at the school through the pins? That school contained daughters of many influential families, so this was much larger than he originally thought.
He locked Beatrice's phone and set it back down silently as he continued to pleasure her until he finished on her back. He pulled back while Beatrice glanced up at him and rolled her eyes, despite the light pants that escaped her belying her true enjoyment.
"There's paper towels in the kitchen, if you'd please."
Jack obliged and stood up, not bothering to get dressed as he walked out of the room to grab the paper towels, his Soul Eye allowing him to track Beatrice through the wall by her aura signature. She got up and stumbled a few steps and got her legs under her before she made her way to the alcove she'd set his phone in and removed it before slipping it back into his discarded pants.
When Jack returned, she was back in the position he'd left her in. He cared for her and she looked up at him, a sultry grin on her face. They were both now dressed again, although for Beatrice that simply meant she'd put her lingerie and robe back on.
"I do hope you enjoyed yourself."
"The most important part, my lady, is that you got what you wanted," Jack replied.
Beatrice smiled, although that smile held a different kind of satisfaction. "I'd say I did."
They spoke for a short time more before Jack bid her farewell and lifted, placing a kiss on her hand as he bowed to her.
"It was a pleasure."
As Jack walked back to his apartment, he checked his phone. There was nothing obviously different about it, but it was obvious she'd set up some way of tracking his activity. He'd have to get a new phone while keeping this one to bait Beatrice and whoever was working with her.
'And now I know about the pins as well, so I'll need to plan this all properly. Killing the twins shouldn't be hard, but now that it seems a larger organization has targeted me, I'll have to take action properly.'
Beatrice and Lil' Miss may consider themselves in control, but they had yet to see who was truly hunting whom.

Author's Note:
Don't totally know how I feel about this chapter, but I think I mostly accomplished what I wanted to. Jack is a young man again, but I hate when stories turn characters into horndogs who can't control themselves around women. At the same time, he's not asexual and will enjoy himself, while still keeping his wits about him.
So, Jack has learned more about the situation he's found himself in, while those attempting to manipulate him think they've got one over on him. This arc will continue for a bit, developing both Jack and Neo and basically will cover all of RWBY: Roman Holiday before a time skip to canon.
As far as sex goes in this story, it will happen but this is probably the most I'll describe it. The only reason I didn't fade to black was because the actions were plot-relevant. Jack will only have a single actual pairing in this story, but it doesn't mean he won't hook up with people before that pairing.
I like engagement, so here's a very important poll. Is Neo Best Girl?
1. Yes
2. Abso-fucking-lutely
