Chapter 7: Nicholas I reaction
"The rebels:
Casualties - 15,428
Captured - 27,631
Mildly injured - 36,129
Seriously Injured - 5,489
1st Division:
Casualties - 2,792
Mildly Injured - 5,014
Seriously injured - 1,237"
Astounding.
Such results are very rare only possible against uncivillized indigineous populations.
Alexander is satisfied, with this achievement his father will definetly grant him the permission to increase the number of divisions, instead of only having 1.
Next, its time to take out the stragellers and bring peace to the land.
-St.Petersburg-
"WHAT?!
Incredible, absolutely incredible.
Even the best of imperial russia army cannot achieve such results."
To be honest, Nicholas I didn't bave much expectations for this division, he only agreed because it would be a good lesson for his 12 year old son.
Such results were not anticipated, he even had some of the imperial russian army on standby, waiting for the report of his sons failure, so that they can rush in and defeat the rebels.
But with his sons victory, he MIGHT consider reforming the army.
Right now, he sent an order for his son to come back to St.petersburg
-Alexander II-
Having entered his fathers office? Work room?
and His father hugs him?
'Wait, what is happening'
"I'm proud of you son.
You've exceeded all expectations.
I've heard that you went to the battlefield yourself?
You are just 12 years old, and its too dangerous, don't do that again alright?"
"Hhm"
'Proud? I can't remember the last time someone has been proud of me, how long ago was it...'
Letting go of his son, Nicholas continues.
"The general you recruited, Dimitry.
He is a good one, great choice.
As rulers we must keep an eye out for talent."
"Happy to make you proud... father."
"Now, you need to catch up on your studies.
So no more avoiding them got it?"
"Yes"
"Good, dimissed"
-1836-
"Father, We must sponsor more research into railways, right now building them is very expensive and takes a lot of effort, but even now, the costs are worth it.
With the improvement in railway technology we will be able to build faster and more cheaply.
Imagine a vast interconnected railway network in the russian empire, from St.petersburg to moscow, all the way to vladivostock all being connected."
We will be able to put so many men on the field, since transporting supplies would be a lot easier.
This isn't the first time Alexander Is trying to get his father to sponsor the railway research he established.
He has tried to do so countless times before.
And this time, to succed he actually bought the support of some of the military advisors to support his proposal, and to put a bit more pressure on his dear old dad.
Not only that, he has also been acting as the "Ideal" crown prince.
Never complaining and always excelling in his studies.
His demeanor has undergone a dramatic change from 6 years ago.
"Fine.
I'm willing to sponsor your research."
'Lets gooooo!'
"But."
'Oh'
"The railways built as a result from your research shall only be used for military purposes only, and commercially only for the very wealthy.
God knows what would happpen if those peasents managed to use those railways to organize, it would undermine the stability of the empire."
"Thanks father, i'll be sure to use those funds wisely."
Looking at his sons happy face Nicholas is at a loss for words.
No matter how hard he tries to hammer down the idea of conservatism and autocracy it doesn't seem to get into his sons head.
And he doesn't understand why, Alexander has performed excellantly in his studies, but for some bloody reason, refuses to learn from his father, being extremely stubborn.
Alas, thats the energy of youth.
"If thats all, you are dismissed."
And as always, Alexander II is once again guided to his roo-Nah, he doesn't have a guide anymore, since he is old enough to look after himself, anyways.
-Alexanders office? Work room?-
The sunlight, casting a warm glow on the furniture in the room.
"Katerina, I managed to secure the required funds by your estimates when will we be able to start the research?"
"Your highness, we have recruited the best in the field of railway engineering, with over 30 people in total, by my estimates we will be able to start next week."
For those wondering, Katerina is a talented scientist Alexander found while looking for people to lead the project.
She graduated from the imperial moscow university with excellent grades not only that she also has great leadership capabilities.
So Alexander recruited her.
"Good, remember time is of the essence."
After Katerina leaves the office Alexander Finally relaxes.
Maintining a proper demeanor infront of others is tiring.
As he changes clothes and falls unto his bed, he Alexander can't help but think how much more there is still to be done.
He simply can't afford to be lax, it was very time consuming to find and recruit those talented scientists.
The russian empire is so vast that without railways there is simply no way to develop the empire.
Railways are an emerging industry and in its early stage, so he can only try and speed up its development.
The sooner he can start the mass construction of railways the better.
And just like that Alexander II drifts off to sleep.
