Running A Cemetery in North America

Chapter 147: Sheep's Eye Tree

Even Smith himself didn't know why there was an ancient castle in the Gold Mine Town.

Cautiously making their way to the outside of the castle, fortunately, they didn't encounter any Blood Race or Bloodline.

"Be careful, my magical artifact is not with me now, and my strength is not what it used to be. Stay here and cover me. I'll go in alone to take a look. Otherwise, if danger really arises, I'm afraid I won't be able to protect you."

Sun Yan hid with Smith in a secluded corner and then spoke to him.

Smith also knew that, given his current level of faith in God, he couldn't draw on much of the power of the True Words, and not even having a Bible by his side made it even more difficult to exert exorcism strength.

Staying here without being a burden to Sun Yan was a better choice.

"I understand, you must be careful." Smith nodded.

Sun Yan immediately climbed up along the outer wall of the castle, reaching a window over three meters high, and then slowly climbed inside.

The interior of the entire castle was very dim, relying solely on the candelabra hanging on the walls for illumination.

Sun Yan knew this was because most of the Blood Race could not face sunlight; under the sun, they would face severe life-threatening risks.

According to Elise, only Blood Race of Prince Level could ignore the influence of sunlight.

As for how to become a Prince Level Blood Race, Elise herself was not very clear.

Stepping on the soft carpet, Sun Yan carefully moved along the wall.

Along the way, portraits painted in oil painting style were hanging on the corridor walls, both men and women, all with the appearance of white people wearing curly wigs and having rosy lips.

They were dressed in luxurious and elegant clothes, like nobles from medieval Europe.

It is worth noting that these people all had sharp fangs in their mouths, looking like ancestors of the Blood Race.

Creak!

The sound of a door opening suddenly came from the room ahead, startling Sun Yan, who hurriedly pressed himself against the wall, hiding his body in the shadows.

Just then, he saw a white woman carrying a tray come out of the room, leaving without looking back.

After her figure disappeared at the end of the corridor, Sun Yan then walked over, turned the doorknob, and entered.

He was completely unfamiliar with the layout of this castle. Wandering aimlessly like a headless fly inside could easily lead to trouble.

It was better to find someone to ask about the situation first, to not be passively disadvantaged.

As soon as Sun Yan walked into the room, an angry voice sounded.

"I won't eat, I already said I won't eat. If you dare disturb me again, I'll kill you!"

On hearing this voice, Sun Yan was momentarily taken aback: "Elise?"

The voice instantly grew quiet.

Sun Yan walked over and saw Elise lying on a gilded bed in the room, her hands and feet bound.

She was wearing a pure white long dress, her hair was disheveled, and there were still many bandaged wounds on her body.

"Jackson?! You're still alive!"

Seeing Sun Yan appear, Elise immediately cried with joy: "I thought you'd all been blown to bits."

"I thought so too."

Sun Yan quickly went to her side, untied all the ropes on Elise, and helped her up: "How did you get locked up here? Have you seen Sosia?"

Elise shook her head: "No, when I woke up, the Blood Race had already brought me back."

"Aren't you part of the Blood Race? Why did they tie you up?"

"I heard that recently the castle seems to be holding some kind of ritual. The Morolick Clan worried that my presence might affect the smooth progress of this ritual, considering that, in their understanding, I was already dead."

Hearing Elise's explanation, Sun Yan frowned: "A ritual? That doesn't sound good. We need to hurry. My magical artifact was probably taken by those Blood Race. We must quickly find my artifact and Sosia."

After breaking free from the ropes, Elise and Sun Yan left the room together.

Since Elise was presumed dead before, the Morolick Clan was still active in the city, so after they moved to this Gold Mine Town, Elise did not know much more than Sun Yan.

The two could only wander like headless flies, inspecting various areas in the castle, hoping to make some significant discoveries.

Soon, the two reached the third floor from the second floor. From deep within the corridor, faint whispers like someone chanting scriptures could be heard.

Sun Yan and Elise exchanged a glance, then immediately tiptoed toward that direction.

...

In the dim stone chamber, a table covered in thick bloodstains lay in the circular room.

At that moment, a trembling blonde woman was lying on top of it, her eyes looked like a lamb's, fearfully observing her surroundings, her eyes full of pleading.

Not far from the table, two men in embroidered robes held a goblet, enjoying the blood-red wine inside.

"Enzoro, do you think this ritual will succeed? Mother Goddess Ailanda has sacrificed who knows how many of our clan to summon the Sheep's Eye Tree. If this continues to fail, our Morolick Clan won't die at the hands of the Exorcist Association, but rather be destroyed for a tree that only exists in legend."

"All this is worth it, Buffy. The Blood Race lineage of the Morolick Clan can no longer keep up with the powers of this era. You've seen those Evil God Council members; the power they wield has far surpassed our bloodline."
