Runeterra: Begging for Help in a Parallel Universe!

Chapter 15: A Father's Redemption!

Link clicked on the letter, praying silently.

"Please, not another useless reply like the last one!"

As soon as he opened the message, a line of text appeared:

**[First, accept my praise and recognition for your mastery of the technology.

After receiving your letter, I conducted several tests on myself, including hallucinogens, mushroom spores, pollutants—everything I could think of. I found no trace of external influence.

I have great confidence in my own technology, but this is the first time I've encountered a situation where my knowledge cannot answer my question.

Since my technology could not identify any issues, I will make the boldest guess from a scientist's perspective—this is indeed a cry for help from another timeline.

Child, since you have reached out to me, an existence from another world, you must be in trouble.

I've heard of Silco, a pioneer who fought back for my hometown, Zaun, and died during the Night of Ashes.

It is said that even now, young people in my hometown commemorate him.

As for Jinx, I'm afraid I have no memory of that name, as I left my homeland too early.

I've said a lot without introducing myself.

I am Dr. Singed, Singed LeVic.

I currently work in the Noxian Alchemical Weaponry Department, researching weapons for these war-hungry fanatics.

My proudest achievement was a compound that burned the lands of Ionia, killing the spirits of nature there.

Heh, don't be afraid, child.

This "glorious" achievement hasn't brought me any comfort; it's only left me with a deep emptiness.

No matter how much I immerse myself in science, I cannot save my daughter, Orianna LeVic.

I am a successful scientist, but a failure as a father.

I can use compounds to make life wither and dead wood bloom, but I cannot free my child from the grasp of death.

I've fought, I've raged, I've mourned, but all that was just the whimper of a defeated dog.

In the pursuit of truth, failure is just failure—there are no excuses.

I don't know if I exist in your world, or if Singed LeVic exists in yours.

But if you can help me find traces of him, or confirm whether my daughter, Orianna LeVic, exists in your world, I would be willing to reward you.

Better yet, let me see her again.]**

[You have received Singed LeVic's gift: The Alchemical Science Notebook (Part 1)]

A book documenting alchemical knowledge appeared in the attachment. Link picked it up and began flipping through it. His eyes lit up.

"This is just what I needed!" Link thought. "I've been worrying about how to improve my physical strength to match my exoskeleton, and now I receive a letter from another timeline's Singed!"

"Though..." Link stared at the notebook, deep in thought. "This Singed has a completely different life story than the one in my timeline."

"He's more like the old version of the mad scientist, but with some traits of the current Singed."

"Well, whatever… I'll figure that out later. Let's just reply for now."

Link set the notebook aside and began writing a reply.

**[Thank you for your letter, Dr. LeVic.

And thank you for sharing your knowledge with me; honestly, it's been very helpful!

Maybe I should call you 'Master' (laughs).

As for the information about Singed LeVic from my timeline, I can provide that to you now.

The Singed LeVic from my world also suffered the loss of his daughter and views death as a terrible affliction, desperately searching for a cure.

To that end, he developed a substance called 'Twilight' and used it to study the laws of nature, exploring the limits of biology.

In my world, Singed even built a cradle for his daughter to preserve her body, racing against time to find a way to bring her back.

Perhaps we can work together.

I could act as a bridge, helping you contact the Singed LeVic in my world to save Orianna LeVic.

That might bring you some comfort and encouragement.

Also, I will try to get a photograph of Orianna LeVic from my timeline, though I hope Singed will allow me to do so.

Finally, I send you my highest respect and thank you again for your generosity in sharing your knowledge.]**

Link read over the letter again before sending it off.

Once done, he sat back down, picked up the Alchemical Science Notebook, and continued reading.

Alchemical science was very similar to chemistry from his past life, using different formulas to create various chemical reactions and craft the compounds he wanted.

Body-enhancement serums, explosives, high-efficiency fuel, powerful adhesives, coolants...

If you dare to experiment, there's always a compound to fulfill your needs.

This notebook contained numerous alchemical formulas and compound recipes, detailing the advantages and drawbacks of each one, along with clear explanations of the principles behind them.

More importantly, it recorded the thought process of a true master in the field of alchemical science.

If Link could grasp this mindset, he could master alchemical science in no time.

"The three major scientific systems of Piltover... I've already mastered two. Only Hextech is left." Link closed the notebook for a moment. "Based on the events of Arcane, the creation of Hextech wasn't so much due to Jayce, but rather the work of the almost all-powerful mage, Viktor."

"Viktor traversed timelines, seeking ways to change himself and Piltover's fate."

"Then, he chose Jayce."

"Jayce didn't disappoint him, leading to the successful birth of Hextech."

"Still..." Link sighed. "In the pursuit of greatness, people often forget their origins, cast aside their ideals, and let fame and praise cloud their vision."

"Well, it's not time for Hextech yet; I'll focus on the present for now."

As Link was about to continue reading, another reply came in.

He opened it while the notebook rested on his lap.

**[Master, such a wonderful title.

I haven't heard a compliment like that in years; most of the time, I'm called a butcher, an executioner, a demon, etc.

Heh—

Thank you for sharing your information; hearing that another version of me in a different world is still fighting for his daughter brings me great comfort, but also curses this damned fate.

Even in different timelines, my beloved Orianna still suffers from death's grip.

So I deeply beg you, Link Stark.

Please change Orianna LeVic's fate and free her from the cursed destiny that binds her.

As for me, or the other me, it doesn't matter what happens.

Regarding the Twilight substance you mentioned, it was just my initial work.

Though I don't know how far the version of me in your timeline has taken this research, I'm happy to share my findings and progress with you.

I will attach them in the next message.

Lastly, I hope you can contact the Singed from your timeline and give him my research notes on overcoming death.

But it's better to copy them by hand before handing them over, to be safe!

Finally, I wish you success and that you never lose your way on the path to truth.]**

[You have received Singed LeVic's gift: The Book of Twilight, Resurrection Plan Experiment Manual.]

Two thick books landed in Link's hands, making his wrist sink under the weight.

"What a heavy load!" Link grinned, staring at the two massive books. "Copying all of this by hand to gain Singed's trust and help won't be easy."

"Eh, I guess I'll just make a typewriter for now!"
