"Miss Ruth, about this matter…." The soldier who was guarding Ruth felt that the situation was not very good.

Even though Ruth is not that bad, but she definitely couldn't defend the entire City J Base on her own. Moreover, Ruth is not exactly a citizen of Continent Z and the soldiers didn't feel right for asking her to defend City J Base with everything she got.

But without these returnees, it would be impossible for them to deal with these rank 7 magic beasts.

Ruth sighed and asked, "Has someone gone to the border?"

She had heard about the existence of the crack between Continent Z and Continent W. It should be the crack that should have been for her because the number of magic beasts coming from that crack was almost nonexistent.

It seemed that there were many people who came to that place and blocked the magic beasts that wanted to come out.

So far, the situation was relatively stable.

Mostly because there were no rank 7 magic beasts coming out of that crack.

At least, that was how it is for the time being.

Ruth didn't know if the situation will change, though.

"Miss Riya has been dispatched to the north. You don't have to worry, Miss Ruth," the soldier quickly replied.

Riya was picked up by the helicopter some time ago and was currently on her way to the border. There were many people who monitored this matter, hoping that they could send Riya instantly to the border.

Unfortunately, Riya hadn't set up a teleportation formation yet.

So this was nothing more than wishful thinking.

It was not know how many people regretted not allowing Riya to set up teleportation formation back then. There were only a limited number of places that Riya could come instantly to help.

But at the same time, they would not need about the possibility of Riya coming over to threaten them.

Though, if Riya were to know what they were thinking, she would say that they were thinking too much. She has no interest to threaten others and it would take too much of her time.

What was the point of threatening others anyway?

She's not a bandit!

Unfortunately, Riya was not present when the higher ups discussed this matter and chose not to build the teleportation formation back then.

"That's good." Ruth smiled faintly when she heard that.

She looked forward and saw a group of rank 7 magic beasts coming over and quickly readied her arrows once more. The arrows formed by mana and it completely dependent on Ruth's mana.

Swish! Jleb! Jleb!

With Ruth holding on the fort on City J Base, these rank 7 magic beasts didn't have any chance to get closer in the slightest bit.

The soldiers heaved a sigh of relief but Ruth was not that calm.

She had been fighting for hours and even though she replenished her mana through eating these magic beasts' roasted heart and meat, it was definitely far from enough. Right now, she felt her head aching and her heart screaming silently.

'I have long reached my limit…'

Ruth knew her condition very well.

If she insisted on going on, there was a chance that she might hurt her own foundation and might not be able to advance to rank 7.

That is unacceptable for any returnee.

For them, it didn't matter if they were slightly injured when helping others but when it touched their foundation… it was a big no.

'Why did Dina have to leave right now?'

Ruth sat down in annoyance and forcefully stuffed the meat into her mouth. The soldiers were helping her to roast these rank 7 magic beasts' heart because she told them that she needed it to replenish mana. The magic beast's meat was also shared by other magicians nearby so that they could help killing the magic beasts.

For this matter, Ruth leave it be.

She was not that stingy.

Besides, she did need all the help that she could get.

The sound of gunshots continued as the soldiers shot these magic beasts without caring about their consumption. With the development of the bases, there were already many factories producing more bullets and ammunition for them to fight.

The situation was not that good either as there were too many magic beasts.

Thankfully, the bases never stopped their production. The only problem was that the raw materials had become scarce but there was nothing that they could do about it.

All continents needed more bullets and so on.

"Miss Ruth, there are more rank 7 magic beasts approaching," the soldier reminded.

Ruth frowned and then shook her head. "My mana is not enough to kill them."

For her to deal with the rank 7 magic beasts, she needed quite a large amount of mana to make the necessary arrows. Her spirit has been tense and Ruth could sense that she was approaching rank 6 peak too, but there was still a gap between rank 6 and rank 7.

She couldn't deal with these magic beasts arbitrarily yet.

"Then we will hold them back first."

Without Dina present, they could only rely on Ruth to kill these rank 7 magic beasts. Even though so, it didn't mean that the others couldn't do anything.

As long as the firepower is strong enough and they hit the weak point of the magic beast, it was not impossible for them to kill the rank 7 magic beasts.

"Fire!"

Countless magic beasts fell down, but their target, the rank 7 magic beasts were still standing intact and continued to approach.

Some of them nimbly dodged the bullets and some others simply charged forward without caring about these bullets. None of these attacks could pierce through their defense.

"Use the special gun!"

"Yes!"

The research institute had developed further improvement from the gun blueprint that Riya handed over. By now, there were many variety that spread all over Continent Z.

For this matter, Riya simply leave it be.
